Asked why his boys team protested during the ZND finale, he said: "It was obvious that we were not happy with the judges and it's not just about the finale. Since the very beginning judges were lacking somewhere in their judgment."
He said, "and on the finale night paani sar ke oopar nikal gaya. They way they judged the face-off round was bad. And my team was ready to reply to the judges. But some how I manage to stop them. If we would have confronted the judges on the show the scene would have been worse than what people saw."
Ali adds, "you know I took it as a bad phase that our side went through - why even Sachin Tendulker being world's no one batsman gets trapped by the wrong pronouncement of umpires. And the same happened with our team in the ZND finale."
Asked how he felt now, he said: "I have no regrets now; whatever my team did, I am happy with the effort. And that's what makes me feel good as captain."
Commenting on Bhakhtiyar's performance in the finale, he said: "I think what he performed was better than the other, in spite of his being unwell. But unfortunately he lost. That's why we could not keep our cool further and protested against the judges in the finale, instead of performing."
