“Meri shaadi ko business deal banane ki koshish mat kijiye maa. Aap ne soch bhi kaise liya ki main iske liye maan jaunga?” Abir cried out as he could not believe when Meenu and Kunal told him or rather begged him to let them go to Maheshwaris and talk about his and mishti’s alliance.
“Come on bhai, we are not asking you to kidnap her or marry her at gunpoint, right?” Kunal tried to convince him.
“Oh, so you mean, I should wait for that to happen? I can trust Maa to do that.”
“ABIR” Meenu couldn’t take it any longer. Why was he so stubborn? “Tum shayad bhul rahe ho, but it was you who told Kunal that the earring wali ladki was his Bhabhi right? It was you who jumped in front of holika fire and caught her earring. And it was you who has her photos in you room. Tum usse already pasand karte ho Abir! We are just asking for us to name this affection in a better way. What’s wrong in that? We are not forcing anyone. Aur agar iss rishte ke judne se, if it helps our business, what is the harm in it?” Of course, meenu had heard Abir say that those earrings belonged to Mishti and she also found her photos in his room. She had dismissed it then but situation was different now. Mishti was not only Abir’s fantasy but she was meenu's need as well.

That week was overwhelming for mishti. To begin with, meeting her grandfather, then accepting his reasons for staying away from her for so long to recently reciprocating his affection. She finally gave him a small place in her heart. And talking about heart, a recent encounter with a certain gypsy named abir rajvansh also seemed to have affected her heart. His advice “Give time to yourself as much as to that person for a new bond to be built” could have seemed ordinary to someone but for her, it was a valuable piece. It is what made her give time to let her grandfather form a bond with her. She even went with him to help him locate a housing property around Rajkot.
So, when weekend was approaching, mishti made plans of taking lots of rest, eating badi ma ke hath ke paranthe and samose, and not meeting anyone else apart from her family in Maheshwari sadan.
But when was the last time plans worked anyway? So, when they were enjoying their Friday special Rajasthani dinner that evening, telephone rang. Varsha was the one to answer it. It was Meenakshi Rajvansh on the line. She wanted to check if it was Ok for her family to visit the next day and discuss the talks that initiated on Holi. Varsha being overjoyed, quickly checked with BM and BP and said yes. They all had already come to terms with kuhu being married first.
So there went mishti’s plans for a relaxed weekend with no outsiders!!

Next day, Maheshwari sadan was ready as if it was a festival day. Rajvansh family was expected to arrive around breakfast time so they made sure everything was ready. “the food is enough for everyone to have lunch” mishti rolled her eyes looking at preparations. She also felt amused at Kuhu and kuhu’s excitement for this supposed wedding. Mishti could not relate to it. For her,so many things were taking a front seat right now. So shaadi had to take a backseat. And thank god, BM and BP did not pressurize her for that. “I mean comeon, I am just 21 for crying out loud!” she thought.

Rajvansh family arrived with everyone at the toe, including that house help of theirs, Jugnu bhaiyya. Mishti found it funny but they welcomed everyone nevertheless. She was also looking for Abir but was surprised to see him not in his usual chirpy demeanor but rather he looked a little awkward and grumpy. He did not even look at her or give a courtesy smile. And God knows why, that affected her.
Finally, after 10-15 minutes when some initial casual talking was done and food and drinks were served, Meenakshi came to the main point.
“Vishambhar ji, Rajshri ji, aapka pariwar bohot accha hai. The kind of love, values and progressiveness your family has, it is something we also stand for. Aur aapke baccho mein bhi yahi sanskar honge, mujhe yakeen hain.”
“Shukriya Meenakshi Ji. Yeh to sab Balgopal ka ashirwaad hai. Aur hamare bacche khud bhi itne kabil hi humein humesha abhiman karne ka mauka dete hain” BP always felt proud whenever someone praised his family and his kids.
“Bilkul sahi kaha aapne Vishambhar ji. Aur main chahti hoon ki humein bhi in dono pe aise hi abhiman karne ka mauka mile. Jaise aapke ghar mein in dono ki wajah se raunak hain, hamare ghar bhi aaye” she finally said it.
“Dono ke matlab? Hum kuch samjhe nahi Meenakshi ji. Aap kiski baat kar rahi hain? Kuhu ki hi na?” not just BP, everyone was confused at that. Mishti who was looking at Meenu, glanced at Abir, who finally seemed to acknowledge her. But that lasted for just a brief moment.
Meenu looked at nanu, whom she had already convinced for this. In fact, he was overjoyed at her idea. Least he knew her real intentions!
“Actually, Vishambhar ji humein aapki dono betiyan bohot pasand ayi. Iss liye, hum chahte hain ki kuhu aur kunal ke sath sath, kyun na hum mishti aur abir ka bhi rishta jod de? Waise toh mera bada beta abir mere sath business mein nahi hain but he has made a name for himself through his NGO. And I am aware of mishti’s liking in social work too. And I feel they are perfect for each other.”
To say Maheshwari family was surprised was an understatement. And mishti? Well, let’s just settle for “she was stumped!” She did not hear anything after “Mishti aur abir ka rishta”. Was this a joke? Was she dreaming? What made that Meenakshi lady think she was ready for marriage? And Abir? Did he do this? Did he like her and so asked his family to talk about them? Jesus Christ! She never felt so betrayed before! That day, when they met at the lakeside, was that why he kept giving her those intent glances and she dismissed them as nothing?
“Ek minute Maa, iss sabke pehle mujhe mishti se akele mein baat karni hain. Agar aap log thik samjhe to. Please” Hearing abir’s voice broke her reverie. This was surprising for meenu too but she nodded approvingly at his way. BP and BM seemed taken aback. But they thought this will give them a chance to discuss about mishti’s father and grandfather situation with Rajvanshs. So, they also said ok.

“Tumne soch bhi kaise liya Abir?” As soon as they stepped outside, into the beautiful garden that adorned Maheshwari sadan, Mishti spoke.
“What do you mean? You are not that bad to not deem worthy of marriage you know” teasing her seemed so natural to him that he didn’t even remember the tense moment they were having.
“Shut up Abir. Main abhi shaadi ke liye ready nahi hoon.” She was in no mood of jokes!
“Haan aur main bhi!”
“What do you mean?” If he was not ready, why was his mother talking about them anyway?
“Dekho mishti, I will not lie to you. It is true that I think that I like you. But I did not talk about us to my mom, let alone think about it. There is a big difference in liking someone and marrying someone, I know. But this idea was proposed by my mom and nanko. And I thought, it was not a very bad idea you know. But trust me, no pressure on you.” He decided to come clean. But that was Abir. As honest as one can be. And so next thing was about their businesses that he wanted to talk about, even if that was not something why he was interested in her, it was something why his mom was. Not that he was going to hide it.
“Ye nanko kaun hain?” Mishti asked, completely sidepassing his confession.
“Seriously, is that what you caught from that entire speech? Anyway, that’s Kunal, I call him nanko.” he was irritated and little disappointed too.
He was about to talk about the business angle his mom had in this but just then Shaurya came, calling them inside. So he thought it was not appropriate to talk with her alone for so long like that. “Maybe later. And maybe IF she says yes”. He thought.

Their families were looking at them or rather staring at them as they made an entry. Were they expected to give an answer right away?
“Jaise humne kaha Meenakshi ji, humein sochne ke liye thoda aur time chahiye.” BP spoke. And mishti thanked her lucky stars for infinite times for blessing her with bade papa. She definitely needed time. On the other hand, Abir’s heart sank as he was afraid that in his mom’s quest for business deal, he would lose a friend as well in mishti, let alone a life partner. “Please partner, meri help kar do” he prayed

After some time Kuhu and Varsha came to talk to her.
“Dekh Mishti, tujhe hum sabne humesha apni maana hain. Aur Maa and bauji ne toh apni beti. Akshara jaisa balki use zyada pyar karte hain tujhse. Toh kya tu aaj iss ghar ke liye kuch nahi karegi?” Varsha started.
“Mishti, I know ki hum real sisters nahi hain but tu fir bhi mujhe apni behen samjhti hain right? If you say no to Abir’s proposal, it may not affect you. But I already like Kunal. Aur tumhare mana karne se mere aur kunal ke rishte mein koi problem” Kuhu also added. She did not want anything to come in her way to be with Kunal.
“KUHU!” Badi ma’s raised voice startled them. Mishti, who was silently listening to all the talks, looked to that direction and saw BM and BP at the door. Of course, she was not the girl to get emotionally blackmailed, her BM and BP raised her better. But still she did not stop Varsha and kuhu from stating their points of view.
“Aap dono kaisi baatein kar rahe hain?” came BP’s stern question.
“Tum dono jao abhi yaha se, humein mishti se akele mein baat karni hai” BM asked them to leave.
Once Varsha and Kuhu left, badi ma and bade papa took a seat on each side besides her, on the bed. Mishti immediately leaned on BP’s shoulder.
“Dekhiye beta, hum aapse jhooth nahi kahenge. Abir ka rishta jitna surprising hain utna hi accha bhi hain. Hum use zyada jaante toh nahi but itna keh sakte hain ki ladka bura nahi laga”
“Jee, bilkul sahi kaha aapne. Aur fir kabhi na kabhi toh yeh din ana hi hain na. Aur ghar pariwar bhi kitna achha hain” BM agreed
“Mujhe waqt chahiye bade papa.” came her reply. She knew this was not a usual demand but somewhere she believed her parents would understand. Also, maybe it was about time she got into the wedding business and saw what was the fuss all about? After turning down so many guys that approached her in college and a couple of casual dates here n there, maybe testing the waters with Abir wasn’t a bad idea?
“Haan beta, aap aram se soch lijiye aur kal ya parso tak bataiye” he didn’t see any issue in her ask.
“Nahi bade papa, mujhe abir ko samajhne ke liye, iss rishte ko acchese jan ne ke liye waqt chahiye and woh 1-2 din mein nahi hoga. I want to know ki main ready hoon bhi ki nahi. Aap dono ko pata hai na ki maine abhi abhi ek rishte ko apni life me jagah di hain toh ab itni jaldi ek aur naye rishte ke liye main jaldbazi nahi chahti. I know ki aap dono hamesha mere achhhe ke liye hi sochoge but I also want to be sure that I want this. And for that I need time. Maybe a few weeks or a couple of months? Kya mujhe yeh waqt mil sakta hai bade papa?” her words were as honest as they could be.

Precap – Abir outside Maheshwari sadan since last 45 minutes but there was still no sign of Ms Agarwal.
And there she came. Looking as elegant and charming as ever, taking his breath away!
She snapped her fingers in front of his eyes to break his trance.

Phew. That was a LONG chapter! But I wanted to get their courtship started so it was necessary. Also, I am thinking to show Kunal as Meenu’s real son here and Parul as just a friend who was given shelter by meenu. Abir’s dad is not a fraud either, he just left and won’t come back. Abir has made his peace with that.

So Abir likes Mishti/ is attracted to her but he hates how Meenu is putting forward the proposal just to advance RJV business
He wishes he could have progressed naturally with Mishti from friendship to love.
Mishti is also attracted to/likes her gypsy friend but is stunned by the sudden proposal from his family
Why did Mishti ignore/sidestep his words that he likes her and just ask who’s Nanko? Is she awkward with him because she’s attracted to him? Or just considers him a good friend?
Glad that Mishti asked for time and her understanding foster parents agreed heartily
Now who will propose marital courtship? Mishti or Abir? Or both? I think both 😆 because they think alike 😳
Kuhu and Varsha selfish as usual only thinking about Kuhu’s welfare, if Mishti rejects Abir’s Rishta that might affect KuKu marriage talks 😵
That was funny, Abir thinks his mom is quite capable of kidnapping Mishti or get her married to him at gunpoint 🤣 Abir knows his Mafia mom too well 😈

Also surprisingly I didn't find kuhu's concern wrong in the story and it made sense ...mishti's no will affect meenu and in turn she will torture kuhu in a different way 🤣 it's a catch 22 situation 😆
Waiting the courtship to begin ...😃 Abir has already made peace with his dad's story...so I don't think there is any personal story to abir and he can fully concentrate on courtship and romance 😆
