This is a grieving post, if I may, for all the could have been's. For all the things we wanted to see and often thought, it should have been this. And now we have lost that chance.
All good bye’s are hard but some of them sting the most;especially those which forced on the two involved parties by a third one. And, now that we are almost there at the end, the most dreaded one, despite the recent negativity in the show; it has left us heartbroken. In less than 2 weeks we will not have few things to look forward to, no more waiting for new episodes to load on Hotstar, no more live updates discussion, no more spoilers and us waiting impatiently for them to turn out true or false and for many of us, no more any reason to log in to IF for a long time!
Its time to say “mehefil mein teri hum na rahe jo gum toh nahi hai. Kisse hamari nazdikiyon ke kam toh nahi hai. Kitni dafa subah ko apni tere aangan me baithe humne sham kiya”. ❤️
And while we are there, let’s summarize what all we had and what we could have had and what will be lost forever!
1. MishBir: First and foremost Mishbir! They have become such an important integral part of the day that I look forward to seeing them onscreen every day, no matter what. (e.g.I have an exam next week and I am still here, writing this). And now we are losing the chance to see Mishti and Abir onscreen 6 days a week (irrespective of the screen time) and will most likely never see them again.
2. Marrital bliss: We have seen them progress from friends to soul mates and beautifully so. We saw him courting her with his shayaris, we saw her fighting the world to be with him and we saw them glow in marital bliss. But now we are losing a chance to see what happened then? Their story unfold post marriage, their lighthearted fights, some serious issues, face offs with some difficult characters in their home, maybe misunderstandings between them for a while but still managing to find their ways back to each other.
3. The Rajvanshs: We saw Naanu, ketki, mamu, parul maasi and even jugnu bhaiyya always rooting for mishbir. But we lost a chance to see their own individual subplots and mishbir helping them in their lives.
4. Naanu being coolest parnaanu : We had naanu being the first one to see sparks between mishbir and fieriest supporter of them. But now we lost a chance to see naanu’s happiness when he learns he will be a great-grandfather (parnaanu), we lost chance to see him pampering them personally and then the baby, the happiness on his face.
5. Meenu’s face off with Karishma (mishti's mom): Many of were waiting for this. Some powerhouse actor in Karishma's role and then mishbir and Meenu's face off with her. Uff this would have been alag level aag scenario. So many possibilities were here to explore, but it is just could have been
6. MishBir’s work: We saw Abir being passionate about his work, NGO, apps and so was Mishti’s passion for social work. But we lost a chance to see what happened after they got married. Did they have any hiccups in their professions? Any ‘Abhiman’ type moments, where she was more successful than him? Or did they face any financial losses, got bankrupt (favorite track of many itv shows) and had to ask help from Maheshwaris but ego clashes did not let them? Or Mishbir joining family business?
7. MishBir’s baby: And finally something that was only shown in dream sequences. Their baby! 😳We lost a chance to see mishbir expanding their family and the infinite happiness that possible new life would bring to RJV and Maheshwaris. The baby being aankhon ka taara, them handling new parenthood, their own bonds changing with that new member and so much more.
All the ‘could have been’s’. The list can go on. Nannu's return, Ketki's marriage etc. Could have easily provided 6 months worth of story without dragging. Brings tears to my eyes, by just thinking about it and realizing what we have lost! Don't know who's bigger loser here, us, actors or CVs.
Probably, with time, we will forget about this pain of an abrupt closure, pain of something so special being snatched away from all of us, pain of losing something when neither actors nor audience were ready for it. But this one is going to sting for a long time!
P.S. On the off screen side we also lost a chance to see this show getting so many awards that they deserved, and a proper dignified farewell the least it deserved at this point.
P.P.S Of course this is a TV show and it had to end one day. The issue is not that it is ending, issue is HOW it is ending and that’s why the mourning!
Sorry for the long post. Could not help it.
