Chapter 6:
It was a Friday morning. Armaan got up first and started getting ready for the office, while on the other side, Abhira was snoozing her alarm. Armaan could hear the noise of the latest Punjabi songs, followed by some nice English songs. Apart from the music in her room, the living room home theatre was also blasting the same music.
Abhira had synced everything to help her wake up.Armaan knew Abhira loved music, but this was getting out of hand. He smiled, thinking of how Ms. Stationery ki Dukhan used to create havoc in his room as well. Now, he thought to intervene as the noise was painful to his ears. He went and switched off the music in the living room and then went to Abhira’s room to wake her up. Finding the door closed, he knocked and called her name.Abhira couldn't hear him as she was getting ready with her music and shower routine. After her shower, she came out, dressed, and started doing her makeup while dancing and singing along to the music.
With a bell ring, Armaan opened the door for Asha. Asha wished him good morning and looked for Abhira, to which Armaan replied, "Woh tayaar ho rahi hai." Asha smiled and said, "Yeh to roz ka hai, Bhaiya."Asha started making breakfast, and Abhira joined them. They quickly finished their breakfast. As usual, Abhira took her sipper with black coffee, which was new since Abhira never liked black coffee; it was always Armaan’s thing.They reached the office, and Abhira was on a call as usual, exchanging basic greetings with Armaan.
As Abhira stepped out of the lift, she loudly greeted everyone with, "Rise and SHINE, people! Rise and Shine!"The way to Abhira's cabin was noisy as she took a complete 30 minutes meeting and greeting everyone. We all know Armaan is by nature very introverted, and here we had Abhira, who was not only extroverted but bright and shiny. Armaan knew how she was, but here he saw how she had built a whole world for herself. She was a very independent, happy-go-lucky girl, and Armaan was happy to see her like this. Her infectious smile always brought a smile to his face.With all of this, they reached Abhira’s cabin, discussed a few things, and then Abhira headed out for her meeting, asking Armaan to meet her later.
Since Armaan was also a workaholic, he never realized the time, and it was already 8:30 PM. He did have Mayur and the juniors come for a meeting to discuss the case, as Abhira knew the case was in good hands. As James came in and greeted Armaan, telling him it was 8:30 PM, Armaan realized Abhira was not around. He saw his phone, which had a text from Abhira saying she would meet him at home. He smiled and got a taxi to reach home.As he reached home, he rang the doorbell expecting Abhira to open the door.
But to his shock, the door was opened by a guy. As he entered, he saw a lot of people roaming around the house. There were beer bottles and whiskey bottles on the dining table, and some music was coming from the balcony. He realized it was live music. The guy who opened the door asked, " bhai, kisko chahiye?"
Armaan, trying to understand what was happening, could only reply, "Abhira," in a confused state. The guy pointed him to the balcony.As he approached the balcony, he could hear Abhira singing. He was shocked and surprised as she sang like a professional singer. He knew she could sing, having heard her sing bhajans, but this was the first time he was listening to her sing like this. Abhira was singing "Tere Mere" from Chef by Neeti Mohan.Armaan was mesmerized by her voice.
When Abhira saw Armaan, she stopped singing and came over to him. The whole gang was disappointed as everyone was enjoying the singing. Abhira introduced Armaan to everyone. There were a few friends on the guitar, drums, and beatbox.
Armaan could only recognize Sara and Fatima. He noticed there were also people who had come as friends of friends. Abhira told him about their regular musical nights.
Abhira had a slightly apologetic look, knowing he was tired, but to their surprise, Armaan was enjoying the change. He met a variety of people who were either lawyers, bankers, or running a salon. What they all had in common was a passion for music and enjoyment.
The only thing that worried him was Abhira’s safety, as there were friends of friends she hadn’t met, and they were coming to her house, along with drinks. However, he could see how everyone was being protective towards each other. Some had childhood friendships, and they accepted Abhira as one of their own.
The night went by with their jamming sessions. Armaan also joined them after changing and could see everyone starting a relaxing weekend.As everybody left by 1:30 AM, Armaan saw Abhira cleaning the house, which was strange as she was usually more laid-back. But she did all the cleaning, and Armaan helped her as he was always a pro.They both talked about their day. Since Abhira was also tired, they ended up talking on the couch and eating Abhira’s favorite noodles.
They spoke about the case, Abhira’s travel, and how Armaan got a new lead. Armaan was surprised and happy to see Abhira’s growth as a lawyer and how she carried herself. In his heart, he was so thankful to God for where Abhira was and how she was surprising him.
He knew all these qualities of hers, but he could now see the extent to which she had developed.They both retired to bed by 4:00 AM.
