This week's Ask A Star is the effervescent Mandy (Muskaan Mihani) of the Sony daily Ye Meri Life Hai. She answers questions sent in by hitList readers… Do you feel sidelined by Pooja's character in Ye Meri Life Hai. You are, after all, playing second fiddle to Pooja in the show? — Lata Not at all. Mandy has an important track in the show. She is also extremely popular. I am essaying a character which I totally enjoy doing, so why should I harbour any such feelings of being sidelined? How is your relationship with the rest of the Ye Meri Life Hai team members —-Pooja, Rohit and Ashmit? —- Nimisha Kapadia We are friends. We shoot almost every day for several hours together. I watch your show regularly over here in Dubai and my sister and mother are great fans of Ye Meri Life Hai. I recently read somewhere that you were the initial choice for Pooja's role. Wasn't it difficult then playing Mandy, and not the role you had screen tested for? — Tasneem Sadriwalla, Dubai Yes, I had screen tested for Pooja's role but at the last minute I found myself doing Mandy's character. Initially, I was extremely unhappy and cried about it, but over time I overcame it. I think Pooja and you make great on-screen pals. Do you both share an equally good relationship off-screen as well? — Kayana Yes, we are friends even off-screen. How do you define Mandy in one word? — Nikhil Jethwa Mandy is lovable. Do you always wear salwar kameez as in the show or wear both western and traditional outfits? — Afnan Anwar Off-screen, I wear both western and Indian wear. I am most comfortable in jeans. How similar are you to your character Mandy in Ye Meri Life Hai? — Muniza Zaidi I am quite similar. Like Mandy I am v ery bubbly, love to talk and am full of life even off-screen. When your friend KS (Kuldeep Singh) was in the show, there was never a dull moment with Mandy and KS. Whatever happened to the KS character? There is no hasi mazak left now in the serial. — Puransingh Banga KS and Mandy would fight like cats and dogs in the show. We were like two small school kids who fought over everything and yet could not do without each other.
There were plenty of light moments when KS and Mandy were around. The track of KS, I guess, is over. Are you planning to do films? — Mohsina Shaikh Yes, I am. My contract expires this month with Sony, so I can take on new assignments. You were supposed to feature in the Zee show Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa? — Nikita Shah Yes, I was supposed to enter the show this month, after my contract with Sony expired. But before that the show was pulled off the air. Now, I am looking at other serial offers. |
