Have you always been particular about fitness or only after getting into acting? I have been particular about maintaining a fit body right since my college day. So that makes it almost two decades of fitness now (laughs). |
Suggest some exercises that are simple and not time consuming? I will suggest lunges, sit-ups, dips, pushups and free hand squats which are basic exercises that can be done at home. They are not time consuming either. |
Now that you are doing Yeh Ishq Haaye do you manage to find time to exercise daily? If a person gives priority to fitness he will always manage to find the time to exercise. The body may say no but you have to push yourself to exercise for at least an hour a day. If I am working I try to hit the gym at least four days a week. Otherwise I work out for six days a week. |
What does your diet consist of and which foods do you avoid? I avoid junk food, cold drinks and alcohol. I prefer homemade food. I try to maintain a balance of 60% proteins and 40% carbohydrates. If I am trying to look leaner I shift the balance to 70% proteins and 30% carbohydrates. What I normally do is diet for 10 days and avoid rice and bread. I then indulge myself in one meal comprising of my favourite food on the 11th day. |
How can one avoid making exercise seem monotonous? These days gyms offer packages with different forms of exercise. I have various forms of exercise in my gym with experts coming in to train us. Actually it depends on what you are looking for. You can go cycling, swimming or play a sport. The idea is to keep changing your routine. This acts like a shock therapy for the body and the body reacts faster. There is something called muscle memory and the muscles stop responding to similar exercise after a period of time. So it is important to keep changing your form of workout. |
Share some fitness tips that you believe in? Eat well and eat healthy. Eat everything but in moderation, nothing in excess. Besides that, just be happy and chill. |
Which are your problem areas and how did you tackle them? I am a lean guy and have high metabolism so I have never had a problem with weight. I had thin legs so I had to tone them to look muscular. I have observed that most Indian's have fantastic upper bodies but neglect the lower body. It is important to have good legs as well so work on it. |
Share a memorable compliment that you have received for your toned body? There are many compliments that I have received including some lusty and unprintable ones (laughs). However the best one would be one that came from my daughter, she said "Dad you are very sexy and my daddy strongest". |
