What is a Power couple?
A couple who work together towards the same goal (may not use the same way or tactics) as each other's back up.
There is an underrated, often unnoticed perfect power couple in this show.
Arjun and Poorvi? Hell no. They never worked together towards the same goal. Usually one comes up with an idea and the other executes/follows.
Arjun and Tanu? Nope. Usually, Tanu makes trouble and Arjun goes to fix it.
Neelima and her husband? No. Same equation as Arjun/Poorvi.
Then who? Arjun's parents.
I know you guys are thinking that I've gone mad. But here me out.
I have been observing them and finally I figured them out. I tell you Arjun's parents have the perfect example of Passive- Aggressive tactics. One parent threaten, blackmail, intimidate and the other cries, coddles and emotionally manipulates.
When Watan and his father threaten Nisha and forcefully gets her married, she pacifies a seething Nisha saying, "I am like your mother" and asks her to adjust. So that she doesn't make waves that upsets her way of life.
Whereas Arjun's father bad mouths Poorvi and threaten her family, Arjun's mother always praises her and shows herself as an ally.
But is she an ally to anyone other than her husband?
She imparts crucial information at a very right time. Remember when she told Arjun that his father attempted murder on Poorvi's parents? She waited until his father had a (fake) heart attack. Now who will fight with someone sick?
This is a woman who never likes to change the status quo. She wants everything to remain the same. That's why she was so concerned when she learned that Arjun fell in love with a strong woman like Poorvi because she knew Poorvi won't put up with the status quo. For that reason, once Arjun's uncle accused her once that, "You were so busy following your husband's orders that you forgot to be a mother." And I think he was bang on.
Arjun can never go against his family because every time his temper boils, his mother is there to hug, pet, praise Poorvi and remind him what a great decision he made.
This lady never lets him doubt his decision by constantly reminding him why he took that decision even though his aim to keep Poorvi happy and smiling went down the drain.
I mean I don't blame her. She has no life outside her husband and family. So it's in her best interest to maintain the status quo.
CVs should have paid more attention to this character. I think it has shades of grey.
