I don't know why Indian soaps has a tendency to turn a strong, independent woman into charity case. As if a woman can't be successful or get her respect back without a man backing it up. But then again, if Poorvi becomes successful on her own, then Arjun becomes useless and not worth forgiving. We can't have the hero turn useless like he has been so far.
I mean think about it. He never prevented his family from causing Poorvi or his family distress, thus remained favourite in his family's eyes. But he helped Poorvi and consoled her behind his family's back when the trouble happened already and told her what He knew, thus earning her love and trust too. That's what I call having your cake and eat it too. He really knows how to be popular everywhere.
On the other hand, first Poorvi had to hide Arjun's obsession from her friend, Gauri because he was crass enough to first date and lie to one girl and then falling in love with her best friend and going after her on the same day he broke up with the first one. Then Poorvi. fell in love and continuously lied to her family for him until her conscience could not permit it any longer knowing that she will be called to task when the truth is revealed and may be her family even won't trust her again.
She really needed a crash course from Arjun how to juggle multiple priorities while keeping oneself out of firing range. I mean cvs call Arjun was fanaa in love? What did he lose except his love? Even that was his own decision.
He only gained approvals from everywhere - his family's approval by getting them loan free and also easy access to cash and power, Bhanupratap's undying gratitude by marrying his daughter, a beautiful woman obsessed with him, yet under his power, one night and next morning stand with the woman he was obsessed with and not to mention without any stain or effect on his or his family's reputation.
What did Poorvi lose? Her trust on love, her family's trust on her, her friend turned her enemy, her self-respect and dignity and most of all her family's reputation.
It's useless to even compare Nisha and Arjun. She could have done what Arjun is doing. Forget her revenge against this family. But she decided that she is not only going to make Watan's life hell but also bring her in-laws down. Arjun can only go as far as whine in Tanu's ear, but has no guts to destroy his family and Bhanupratap for using money and power to harm Poorvi and his family as well as separate him from his love.
So who do you think became fanaa in love? If Poorvi never takes revenge, then Arjun's life will continue without even a hitch. So until Poorvi decides to take revenge, Arjun is not at all fanaa in love... And even then he has maintained a witness in the form of Nisha to tell Poorvi how great Arjun is. I'm sorry if this doesn't make my little heart feel sorry for him.
