FATE TWISTED BY LOVE

CHAPTER 58

Priya stood behind the pillar and was observing Sameer and Naina. She had been sad from the last few days as Sameer was not coming to the NGO but what angered her more was Naina's absence too. She had noticed that there was definitely something going on between the two. Though they did not talk with each other, there was some chemistry between them which Priya did not like at all.

Priya had asked few teachers about Sameer and Naina, but no one had any idea about it. She had even asked Mr Iyer. Though he knew what had happened and where they were, he remained quiet. It was not his story to tell. After Naina had asked him about Sameer's hotel, he had searched his history and had found a strong one. He now knew that Naina was Sameer's wife. He got to know through a video about some party where Sameer had announced Naina as his wife and was happy to see that. He was just curious to know why none of them acted as a couple here and acknowledged their marital relationship.

Naina and Sameer did not meet that day as they both were busy with back-to-back classes. When she left towards the bungalow, she felt his presence behind her, but she did not turn. He too silently followed her and they reached their destination in the next fifteen minutes. Naniji was waiting for them and had prepared tea.

Naina was surprised to see that Sameer did not deny the tea and drank it without any fuss. From when had he started drinking tea? And why was he not asking for his favourite coffee? She remembered the words of Ramdhari who had told her that Sameer had stopped drinking coffee and had clearly told him that he would drink coffee only if it is made by her.

Naina realized that from last few days, she was giving him coffee, he never asked for it. Infact, he was not asking for anything. Whatever she gave him, he ate it without causing any trouble. He had changed so much. The Sameer Maheshwari who always drank coffee had now settled with tea. The Sameer Maheshwari who always wanted a proper meal had started eating a simple meal. The Sameer Maheshwari who lived in a mansion had started living in a small bedroom without air conditioning. Though there is no need of air conditioning in the cold climate of Shimla, she thought.

Naina noticed many changes in him but did not point it out to him. Sameer who was a ruthless businessman had now become a famous singer who was down to earth and mixed with all the people around. He never spent extra hours in his grandfather's NGO but now he was teaching music to the kids in the NGO here. She knew the reason behind this drastic change, yet she could not forgive him. How could she? His accusations and his lack of trust was something that was still fresh in her mind. How could she forget that and forgive him?

Naniji pinched Naina's elbow which broke her thought process and she yelped. "Jiske baare mein itna soch rahi hai, wohh toh chala gaya apne kamre mein. Tu ab apne sapnon se baahar aaja, chaai thandi ho gayi hai.", Naniji teased. It was then Naina noticed that Sameer had left for his room and her tea had turned cold.

In the next few days, Sameer and Naina talked only when it was necessary. Even he didn't try to coax her for forgiving him. Naina's colleague, Aarav, came to drop her few times after the office which did not go unnoticed by Sameer and Priya. Though Sameer felt jealous, he controlled himself and remained calm. But how could Priya let this go. She had a perfect plan in place to degrade Naina in front of everyone and especially, in the eyes of Sameer.

One day, when Naina came with Aarav, Priya called her, "Arey Naina... tum apne friend se hamara introduction nahi karwaaogi?" Sameer who had just arrived stopped momentarily hearing Priya's voice but then carried on walking towards Mr Iyer's cabin. This made Priya a little anxious but she had something major to do, so she did not call him.

Naina introduced him as her office colleague keeping the introduction short. Aarav was about to leave when Priya called him out, "Arey Aarav... thodi der ruk jao. Chalo main tumhe sab dusre logon se milvaati hun." Naina found it a little weird but ignored it. She bid her goodbye to him and left towards the common room which was vacant as everyone was busy in the hall having their lunch.

Priya introduced Aarav to all the teachers and left him to talk to them. As Aarav turned to leave, Priya again called out, "Arey Aarav... tum jaa rahe ho? Tumhe naa Naina bulaa rahi hai. Kuch kaam yaad aa gaya usse. Chalo main tumhe common room tak chod aati hun." She led him towards the common room where Naina was preparing for her next class unknown to the storm that was about to hit her.

Priya stopped outside the common room and pointed inside, "Naina andar tumhara wait kar rahi hai." As soon as Aarav entered the room, he called out to Naina, who had gone to freshen up in the washroom before her class.

Naina came out of the washroom at the precise moment and was shocked to see Aarav there. She asked, "Tum yahaan kya kar rahe ho Aarav? Tum gaye nahi ab tak?" He looked at her confusion and asked, "Tumne hi toh bulaaya tha naa mujhe, kuch kaam tha naa tumhe?"

Naina was confused, when had she called him and why? She spoke, "Main tumhe kyun bulaaungi Aarav? Mujhe koi kaam nahi hai tumse." Before they could understand what was happening, Priya had closed the door from outside which got locked instantly.

Naina and Aarav looked at the door and then realized what had happened. Naina immediately ran towards the door and tried to pull it open which was useless. Aarav too tried but did not succeed either. The lock on the door was not working properly from the last few days and would open only with the help of the key.

Naina banged the door loudly for some help, but no one was around except Priya. She cursed and said in anger, "Iss darwaaze ka lock kharaab hai Aarav. Ab isse sirf baahar se khol sakte hai, wohh bhi chaabhi se, jo Mr Iyer ke paas hai, isliye yeh darwaaza hamesha open rehta hai."

Turning to him, she asked, "Tumhe kisne kahaa ki maine tumhe bulaaya hai?" He was sweating by now and mumbled, "Wohh... wohh... Priya ne kahaa ki tumne mujhe bulaaya hai." Naina closed her eyes and prayed for some miracle to happen. Both of them tried to pull the door, but it was of no use. Fifteen minutes passed by, but they couldn't open the door. They shouted several times, but that too was unheard.

Priya who was standing outside that door, smirked evilly, "Ab aaya naa oonth pahaad ke neeche. Bohot shareef banti thi naa sab ke saamne. Aaj sab dekhenge tumhara yeh roop. Sameer sirf mera hai, tumhe toh main kabhi hamare beech nahi aane dungi Naina. Ab darwaaza Sameer ke saamne khulega aur jab wohh tumhe aise kisi aur ke saath dekhegaa, toh uss bechaare ka dil hi toot jaayega. Par uski chinta karne ki zarurat nahi hai Naina, main hun naa... Main mere Sameer ko acche se sambhaal lungi... fir Sameer sirf mera..."

When Sameer and Mr Iyer came out of the cabin, there was some commotion in front of the common room. They walked faster and reached the place quickly. Priya was standing there with other teachers who were looking at the closed door of the common room. Mr Iyer asked, "Yahaan bhid kyun lagaa rakhi hai? Kya ho raha hai yahaan?"

Priya looked at Sameer first and then replied, "Sir... wohh... wohh... Naina apne boyfriend ke saath andar hai akeli aur darwaaza bhi band kar diya hai usne." The moment Sameer heard it, he exclaimed, "What nonsense? Kya bakwaas kar rahi ho tum?"

Priya replied calmly, "Main koi bakwaas nahi kar rahi Sameer. Jo sach hai wohi keh rahi hun. Agar yakeen naa ho toh khud darwaaza kholkar dekh lo." She turned to Mr Iyer, "Sir... aap khud hi darwaaza kholkar dekh lijiye. Sach apne aap saamne aa jaayega." Mr Iyer called a peon and asked him to bring keys from his cabin. Sameer waited patiently till the peon returned and opened the door.

As soon as the door opened, the sight that greeted them shocked everyone. As the door had opened suddenly, Naina who was trying to open it, lost her balance and was about to fall when Aarav had held her. At the precise moment, the door opened widely and everyone saw them in each other's arms.

Sameer stood rooted to his place whereas Mr Iyer looked at Naina and Aarav. Mr Iyer and Priya along with the other teachers entered the common room. Sameer was still standing at the door and was looking at Naina.

Naina left Aarav's hand and straightened herself. Before Mr Iyer could say anything, Priya started, "Naina... yeh kya tareeka hai apne boyfriend ke saath akele rehne ka? Tumhe pataa hai naa ki yeh ek NGO hai, jahaan bacche rehte hai, yahaan yeh sab nahi chalta. Ab apne boyfriend ke saath aiyaashi hi karni thi toh kahin hotel mein room book kar leti. Yahaan aise iss common room mein tumhe yeh sab karte sharam nahi aayi?"

Naina and Aarav stood frozen as they heard Priya's accusations. Priya turned to the others and My Iyer, "Sir... main toh pehle se hi kehti thi ki yeh Naina acchi ladki nahi hai. Bas shakal se shareef dikhti hai. Iski bholi bhaali shakal dekhkar kaun kahega ki iske mann mein kya kya chal raha hai."

Naina caught Sameer's eye and that broke her stupor. She came forward and held Priya's shoulder. "Kya bakwaas kar rahi ho Priya? Bolne se pehle kuch toh soch liya karo, kya keh rahi ho." Priya shrugged her hand and shouted, "Tum jaisi ladki ko toh doob ke mar jaana chahiye, jo aisi pavitra jagah mein bhi aise gande kaam karti ho."

Naina looked at Mr Iyer and said, "Sir... aap meri baat suniye. Yahaan aisa kuch nahi hua jaise Priya bataa rahi hai. Aarav toh mere bhai jaisa hai. Wohh bagal waale guest house mein rehta hai, isliye mujhe kabhi kabhi NGO chodne aa jaaya karta hai." Turning to Priya, she said, "Tumne hi toh Aarav ko yahaan bheja tha naa yeh kehkar ki mujhe usse koi important kaam hai. Aur wohh tum hi thi naa jisne yeh darwaaza baahar se band kiya tha?"

Priya turned to Mr Iyer, "Dekha Sir... Kitni aasaani se baat palat di. Ab toh Aarav bhi yahi kahega aakhir apni girlfriend ki reputation jo bachaani hai." She clapped loudly, "Waahhh... Naina... waahhh... jab chori pakdi gayi toh mera jhootha naam le rahi ho. Yahaan sab jaante hai ki Aarav tumhe NGO chodne aata hai, sabne dekha hai tum dono ko saath. Ab jab tumhara kaarnama pakda gaya toh bhai banaa diya bechaare ko. Waahhh Naina... waahhh... maan gayi tumhe..."

Naina turned around to see everyone's disgusted gaze towards her. No one was believing her. Her eyes teared up instantly as she met the ones that she was longing for. Naina spoke locking her gaze with him, "Main... Main sach bol rahi hun..." Priya spoke from beside her, "Itna sab dekhne ke baad koi tumhari baat nahi maanega Naina."

The voice that she was craving to hear amidst all, spoke finally, "Main Naina ki baat maanta hun, kyunki wohh sach keh rahi hai." All the eyes turned to Sameer who was looking only at his love. He entered the room and stood beside Naina, "Main poore vishwaas ke saath keh sakta hun ki Naina sach bol rahi hai. Agar usne kahaa ki Aarav uska bhai hai, toh wohh Naina ka bhai hai. Main Naina ki har baat par yakeen karta hun."

Sameer looked at Priya and said, "Naina shakal se jitni shareef dikhti hai naa, uska dil usse bhi jyaada saaf hai. Naina ko ek kamre mein kisi ladke ke saath band karke yeh toh saabit nahi hota ki wohh dono girlfriend boyfriend hai. Mujhe Naina par poora bharosa hai. I trust her. Naina ne aisa kuch nahi kiya jiske liye itna bada tamasha kiya jaa raha hai."

Priya had not expected Sameer to support Naina which was ruining her plan. She tried again, "Sameer... tum bohot seedhe saadhe ho. Naina ne do aansoon ka bahaa diye, tum uski baat par trust karne lage? Arey tum aisi ladkiyon ko nahi jaante Sameer, jo shakal se bholi bhaali dikhti hai, par hoti nahi. Inhe bas logon ka faayda uthaana aata hai. Aisi ladkiyaan sirf..."

Sameer shouted, "Bas... ek aur shabd agar tumne Naina ke khilaaf bola naa toh mujhse bura koi nahi hoga. Waise toh main ladkiyon ki bohot respect karta hun, par agar tumne kuch bhi galat bola Naina ke liye, toh main bhool jaaunga ki tum ek ladki ho. Main jitna shaanti se baat karne ki koshish kar raha hun, tumhari baatein mujhe utna hi gussa dilaa rahi hai Priya. Toh Naina ke khilaaf kuch bhi bolne se pehle zara soch samajh kar bolna. Samjhi..."

Priya was baffled. Why was he siding with Naina even after seeing her in Aarav's arms? Why was he trusting her? Why was he standing next to Naina and not her? Her blood boiled and she continued despite Sameer's threat. "Pataa nahi iss Naina ne kyaa jaadu kiya hai sab ladkon par, pehle Aarav aur ab Sameer bhi ussiki tarafdaari kar raha hai."

Sameer couldn't take anymore and took a step ahead in Priya's direction. Suddenly he felt someone's touch and turned to see Naina holding his arm to stop him. Naina had sensed that he was ready for a battle with that stupid girl. She knew Sameer's anger and what he was capable of.

Sameer covered her hand and blinked his eyes. Naina let go of his hand and he stood in front of Priya. Folding his hands, he asked "Accha... toh tum yeh kehna chaahti ho ki tum jo keh rahi ho wohh sach hai, aur jo Naina aur Aarav keh rahe hai wohh jhooth?" Priya smiled, "Haannn... Bilkul... main sach bol rahi hun Sameer."

Sameer looked at Mr Iyer and said, "Sir... mujhe yahaan baahar ka CCTV footage dekhna hai. Security waalon se kahiye ki hume wohh thodi der pehle waala footage check karna hai. Fir doodh ka doodh aur paani ka paani ho jaayega. Kaun sach bol raha hai aur kaun jhooth wohh abhi sabke saamne aa jaayega."

Now it was Priya's turn to stutter, "Main... main keh rahi hun naa ki main sach keh rahi hun. Main... main yahaan kitne saalon se kaam kar rahi hun, toh main... main jhooth kyun bolungi?" Sameer noticed her body language and instantly turned to Mr Iyer who was also silently observing the whole drama.

Mr Iyer spoke, "Tum sahi keh rahe ho Sameer. CCTV footage se abhi sach sabke saamne aa jaayega. Aur haannn... jo bhi sach ho. Jisne bhi yeh kiya hai, usse sazaa bhi milegi aur sazaa yeh hogi ki usse yeh NGO hamesha hamesha ke liye chodna hoga. Aaj yaa toh Priya yaa fir Naina, dono mein se koi na koi toh terminate hoga."

Naina wiped her tears and looked at Sameer who again stood beside her. Aarav too stood beside her and said, "Naina... fikar mat karo abhi sab sach saamne aa jaayega." Naina smiled weakly at him and turned to look at Priya who stood shocked with the sudden turn of events. How could she stop all this? If they checked the CCTV footage, it would clearly show that she was the one who brought Aarav to the common room and she was the one who had closed the door from outside.

Taking her one final chance, Priya said, "Sir... waise jahaan tak mujhe pataa hai yahaan koi CCTV cameras nahi hai, fir aap kis CCTV ki baat kar rahe hai?" She thought they were bluffing and continued her bravado. But she was wrong as the next sentence of Mr Iyer blew her mind.

Mr Iyer said, "Tumne kabhi aas paas dhyaan hi nahi diya Priya. Dhyaan deti toh dekh paati ki NGO mein total dus CCTV cameras hai. Khair chodo... Main abhi security ke paas jaakar footage dekh aata hun. Ab tumne itna bada ilzaam lagaaya hai Naina par, toh proof bhi solid hona chahiye naa?"

Mr Iyer connected his mobile to the CCTV footages and then showed everyone who was lying all this time. All the teachers were shocked to see that Priya was the one who had left Aarav at the common room and closed the door. Priya shivered as all the eyes landed on her.

Naina walked to her, "Kyun kiya tumne aisa Priya? Kyun mujhe sabke saamne yun neecha dikhaana chaahti thi? Kya milta yeh sab karke tumhe Priya? Tum toh khudko meri dost kehti thi naa? Fir yeh sab kyun? Bolo Priya... Kyun kiya tumne yeh sab mere saath", Naina yelled.

Priya looked at her in hatred and said, "Kyunki main tumse nafrat karti hun Naina... because I hate you... Jab se tum aayi ho, koi meri taraf dekhta hi nahi. Jisse dekho bas tumhare hi gungaan karte rehta hai, tumhare hi aage peeche rehta hai. Pehli baar mujhe koi ladka accha lagaa aur wohh... wohh bhi sirf tumhe attention deta hai. Jab dekho tab Sameer ki nazrein sirf tumhe dhoodti hai. Thode din pehle bhi tum dono ek saath chutti par gaye the naa? Mera dil kitna jalaa yeh sirf main hi jaanti hun. Tumne... tumne mujhse mera Sameer chinn liya, toh... toh main aise kaise tumhe chod deti huh? Hisaab toh barabar karna tha naa? Isliye... isliye maine yeh sab kiya. Maine kitna try kiya pehle bhi par tab bhi koi meri baat nahi sunte the. Aaj Aarav dikha toh mujhe mauka mil gaya tumhe sabak sikhaane ka. Par iss Sameer ne usspar bhi paani fir diya..."

Pushing Naina away, Priya walked towards Sameer who had already stepped towards Naina to save her fall. Seeing that, Priya shouted, "Sameer... Kya hai huh Naina mein itna jo mujh mein nahi hai? Kyun tumhe sirf Naina dikhaayi deti hai aur main nahi? Kyun tumhe Naina ki har baat par vishwaas hai aur mujh par nahi? Bolo Sameer... kya kami hai mujh mein jo tum meri taraf pyaar se dekhte hi nahi."

Sameer passed by her and pulled Naina by her side. Wrapping his arm around Naina's waist, he declared, "Kyunki Naina meri wife hai Ms Priya Patel. Tum agar mujhe acche se jaanti toh tumhe yeh baat pehle hi pataa chal jaati ki Naina meri kya lagti hai. So, Ms Smarty Pants... tumne kabhi mere baare mein kuch pataa lagaane ki koshish nahi ki? Kuch mahino pehle maine saari duniya ke saamne Naina ko apni biwi announce kiya tha. Tumne wohh video nahi dekha? Infact hamari photo bhi aayi thi newspaper mein."

Turning to Mr Iyer, Sameer continued, "Aapne wohh video Priya ko nahi dikhaaya?" Mr Iyer came forward and showed the video of that party where Sameer had announced his marriage to the whole world. This shocked everyone as no one had any idea about this apart from Mr Iyer.

Sameer turned towards everyone and said aloud, "Aaj ke baad kisine bhi Naina ki baare mein koi bhi galat yaa faaltu baat ki, toh uska saamna iss Sameer Maheshwari se hoga. Jiski shuruwaat aaj se abhi se hoti hai." Turning to Priya, he said, "Ms Priya Patel... tumne sirf abhi tak The Singer Sameer Maheshwari ko dekha tha, jo shaant rehta tha, par aaj tum The Real Sameer Maheshwari ko dekhogi jiske baare mein sunna tumhe accha nahi lagega. Kya keh rahi thi tum Naina ke baare mein? Agar abhi main apna mooh kholunga naa tumhari taareef mein, toh kisiko mooh dikhaane laayak nahi rahogi tum. Bataaun sabko ki tum roz raat kaunsi kaunsi hotel mein jaati ho, kiske saath hoti ho? Kya kahaa tha tumne abhi, pehli baar mujhe koi ladka pasand aaya tha. Really Priya? Koi aur line nahi mili bolne ko?"

Naina tugged his arm and whispered, "Bas kijiye Sameer..." He met her misty gaze and smiled, "Aaj nahi Naina... aaj nahi... Isne aaj wohh karne ki koshish ki hai jo aaj tak main soch bhi nahi sakta tha. Aise kaise koi bhi ladki tum par aisa ghatiya ilzaam lagaa sakti hai? Aur main usse chod dun, yeh nahi ho sakta Naina. Isse Mr Iyer jo sazaa dena chaahe wohh de sakte hai, par main bhi isse aisi sazaa dunga jo isse zindagi bhar yaad rahegi. Kisi bhi ladki ke saath aisa karne se pehle ek baar hum dono ko yaad kar legi."

Wiping her tears, he said, "Naina... usne tum par itna ghatiya ilzaam lagaaya aur tum isse aise hi jaane dogi? Agar aaj jaane diya naa Naina toh yeh kal kisi aur ladki ke saath bhi aisa hi karegi. Yeh tumhe sabak sikhaane chali thi naa? Ab iski baari." He moved his arm from her waist and left her.

Blinking his eyes at Naina, he assured her that he was there with her no matter what. Naina wiped her cheeks again and stood in front of Priya who just gave her a blank look. Glancing once at Sameer, Naina mustered all the courage and slapped Priya hard, twice. The sound of her slaps that resonated in the common room stunned everyone to silence.

Priya could not react at all and stood motionless. As she realized what had happened, Priya tried to slap Naina but Naina caught hold of her hand and twisted it, letting out her anger for the first time ever. She screamed, "How dare you Priya? Itna sab hone ke baad bhi tumhare chehre par kisi bhi tarah ka koi guilt nahi hai. You are not sorry for what you did? Tumne mera character par ungli uthaayi Priya. Kal kisi aur ke saath bhi yahi karogi tum, kyun? Main ab bhi chaahun toh Sameer ko rok sakti hun, par ab nahi rokungi. Kyunki tum uske laayak nahi ho."

Naina left her hand while Sameer came and stood beside her. Mr Iyer spoke, "Ms Priya Patel... jaise maine pehle kahaa tha ki jisne bhi yeh ghatiya harkar ki hogi usse iss NGO se nikaala jaayega. So, after seeing all the proofs, you are fired from this NGO. You can leave now."

Sameer added, "Rukiye Mr Iyer. Aapne toh sazaa de di, ab meri baari hai." Within few minutes, the police arrived and Sameer filed a complaint against Priya. Naina and Aarav gave their statements and Priya was arrested. "Main... main tum dono ko chodungi nahi Sameer... Naina... main... main..." The lady police officer dragged her away from there before she could complete her sentence.

The others apologized to Naina for not trusting her while Sameer chatted with Aarav. Mr Iyer blessed the couple and left towards his cabin and the other teachers too got back to their classes. Naina and Sameer sat on the bench in the garden after Aarav left. They both sat there in silence for a long time. They had missed their classes. How can she concentrate on the kids when she was too wounded herself. Sameer understood her melancholy and stayed beside her.

After a while Sameer said, "Naina... wohh sorry... maine sabke saamne hamara rishta bina tumhe pooche bataa diya. Par main kya karta, wohh Priya tumhare baare mein itni bakwaas kiye jaa rahi thi ki main... main wohh sab sehh nahi paaya. I am sorry..." Naina turned to him and pulled her dupatta away from her neck.

Sameer's heart skipped few beats as the nuptial chain came in his view. Naina had been wearing that chain even now? His eyes teared up and met her misty ones. She parted her hair in the middle and the vermilion came into view. No words came out of Sameer's mouth as he sat there tongue-tied after watching his wife... yes... his wife...

Naina lowered her eyes and looked away, "Aapko sorry kehne ki zarurat nahi hai. Aapki jagah agar main hoti toh main bhi yahi karti." Sameer mustered some courage and asked, "Kab se?" She knew what he was referring to. She replied, "Maine kabhi yeh mangalsutra utaara hi nahi. Aur yeh sindoor bhi roz lagaati hun, bas thoda sa.. taaki sabko naa dikhe."

Sameer sighed in relief as her words registered. She had never removed her nuptial chain and had always applied the vermilion. All this silenced him and made him feel more guilty. Even after his harsh behaviour, she had still treated him as her husband. This gave him solace and his hope that she would forgive him soon, intensified.

That night when Naina rested on her bed, she thought, "Aaj jo bhi hua wohh accha nahi hua. Maine kabhi sapne mein bhi nahi socha tha ki Priya aisa kuch kar sakti hai mere saath. Kisine mujhpar vishwaas nahi kiya, sivaay... sivaay Sameer ke. Mujhe lagaa nahi tha ki wohh mujhpar itna bharosa karenge wohh bhi sabke saamne."

Closing her eyes, she let her tears flow. "Kaash aapne yeh bharosa tab kiya hota jab karna chahiye tha. Toh... toh... shaayad aaj hum saath hote, khush hote ek saath." Her heart had melted seeing his trust on her today. He had stood by her side when no one believed her. He had given her strength to teach a lesson to that girl. She could have never done it on her own and slapped Priya.

She shivered as she recalled how Sameer had wrapped his arm around her waist and proclaimed her as his wife in front of everyone in NGO. She smiled amidst her tears. The skin still tingled as she remembered his touch again.

In the other room, Sameer too recalled all the happenings of that day. He knew that his trust on Naina today had melted her heart a little. But still, his heart somewhere knew that it wasn't going to be easy to gain her forgiveness. This was just the first step. Ruffling his hair, he said, "Chal Sameer... abhi bohot kuch karna hai. Naina itni aasaani se tere saath Ahmedabad waapis nahi jaayegi. Aaj tune bharosa dikhaaya hai Naina par, ab pyaar jataane ki baari. Naina... tumne mujhe issi ghar mein rakhkar mujhe tumhare kareeb rehne ka ek bohot accha mauka de diya. Mrs Naina Sameer Maheshwari... ab tumhe mere charms se kaun bachaayega?"

FATE TWISTED BY LOVE

CHAPTER 59

The next morning Naniji had to leave for Delhi as her sister was not well. Sameer was happy that he would get to spend some alone time with his wife while Naina was conscious about the whole thing. The sudden departure of Naniji was a boon for Sameer as he got a chance to woo his wife.

It was the weekend and Naina did not have to go to her office that day. They had to leave for the NGO in the afternoon though. Sameer was already waiting for Naina at the dining table, when he heard her scream. He ran towards her room and stopped in his tracks as the scene in front of him made him go numb. Naina was lying flat in the washroom and was screaming in pain. Another shriek from her and he ran towards her.

Looking at her tearstained face, Sameer stuttered, "Na... Naina... yeh... yeh kya hua? Tum... tum yahaan aise kaise gir gayi?" Meeting his misty gaze, she said, "Wohhh... wohh... zameen gili thi aur mera... mera pair slip ho gaya."

Sameer asked, "Tum... tumhe kahaan lagi hai Naina? Tumhe kahaan dard ho raha hai? Tum... tum uth sakti ho?" She replied, "Mere right haath bohot dard kar raha hai..." Sameer asked again, "Kya tum uth sakti ho?" She tried to get up on her own but slipped again. He did not think twice before picking her up in a bridal style and walked towards her bed. He picked up her phone and searched for the doctor's number. The doctor arrived in the next ten minutes while Naina kept crying in pain. Sameer's heart thudded loudly and he kept pacing around the room while waiting for the doctor's review.

Once the doctor checked Naina, he said, "Sameer... Naina has sprained her right arm aur back mein bhi pain hai. Isse ab do se teen din sirf aaram karna hoga, koi kaam nahi karegi Naina. Agar uss haath par jyaada zor diya, toh sujan aur badh jaayegi aur pain bhi. Main iske right arm ko sling lagaa raha hun aur medicines de rahaa hun. I would advise her to rest completely. Ice pack use karna, thoda relief milega. Aur thode exercises bataa raha hun wohh kal se shuru karna. Her arm will be good in a couple of days."

Turning to her, the doctor continued, "Naina... Jaise maine abhi kahaa tumhe bilkul bhi kaam nahi karna hai. Agar jaldi thik hona hai toh rest karo. Thik hai... ab main chalta hun. Kal waapis aaunga." Sameer paid him the fees and led him to the door.

He asked in concern, "Doctor... Naina jaldi thik toh ho jaayegi naa? Usse jyaada dard toh nahi hoga naa?" The doctor looked at his worried face and smiled, "Do not worry young man, she will be fine in the next two to three days. Just let her rest." Patting his shoulder, the doctor left.

When Sameer entered her room, he saw Naina still resting on the bed. Without making any noise, he left towards the kitchen to make tea for her. After fifteen minutes, he entered her room again holding a tray. He kept it on the side-table and looked at her tearstained face.

Sameer did not want to wake her up but had to do it. Both of them had not eaten anything since morning and she had to take her dose of medicine now. Touching her left arm, he shook her a little. He called out softly, "Naina... Naina... utho... dekho main hamare liye naashta laaya hun."

Naina had already made his favourite aloo parathas early in the morning which Sameer had now brought for their breakfast. She had packed few for Naniji too. Naina opened her eyes slowly and tried to get up, but she could not do it on her own. Sameer saw her efforts to get up for a while and knew that she would never ask for his help.

Sameer resisted for a while and then took charge. He spoke, "Main... main help kar deta hun." Naina was not prepared for his touch again and said, "Main... main khud uth jaaungi Sameer." He gave her a stern look, "Haannn... dekh raha hun, kaise khud uth rahi ho." Before she could stop him, he sat beside her and helped her to get up. She inhaled his fragrance and closed her eyes again. She had missed him and now because of her sprained arm, she had to depend on him which was going to be a torture itself.

Sameer made her sit on the bed and adjusted the pillow behind her back. Their proximity in the bungalow and her room made her nervous and excited at the same time. He placed the tray on the bed between them and asked, "Chalo... pehle naashta karlo, fir medicines bhi leni hai naa?"

As Naina brought her left hand to break a piece of aloo paratha, Sameer held her hand. "Left haath se khaane ki zarurat nahi hai Naina. Agar tumhe problem naa ho, toh main... main khilaa dun?" She was not sure if she should allow him to do so, yet she nodded giving in to her heart.

Sameer fed her one paratha and she picked up the tea cup with her left hand. He raised his eyebrows at her and she replied, "Ab iss haath se cup toh uthaa sakti hun main." He wanted to laugh out at the way she had pouted while saying that, but controlled it. Once they were done with their meal, he gave her the medicines and sat beside her. As Naina put the medicine in her mouth, he held the glass near her mouth. She drank water and swallowed the tablet. All the while she held his gaze steadily.

Sameer picked up the cups and the tray. "Ab tum aaram karo... Main... main aata hun baad mein." She just nodded again. Before she could turn around to keep the pillow properly, he again sat next to her and helped her to sleep on the bed comfortably. Pulling the curtains close, he walked out of her room to let her rest. Sameer called up Mr Iyer and informed him about Naina's condition. He also told him that they both won't be able to come to the NGO till she recovered.

Naina woke up after few hours and got up herself as the pain was not much. She walked to the washroom and freshened up. Glancing around her room once, she made her way downstairs. She had searched for Sameer in his room, but he was not around.

As she descended the stairs, her eyes searched for him. She heard some noises coming from the kitchen and made her way towards it. She stopped in her tracks watching The Sameer Maheshwari trying to cook.

Sameer turned at that instant as he sensed her presence. Naina widened her eyes and entered the kitchen, "Yeh aap... aap kya kar rahe hai?" He looked around the platform where he had created a mess of everything. He was trying to make dal rice for them but it seemed that he could not do it even after watching several videos on the YouTube. He was so busy with making the dal that he had forgotten about rice and had burnt it.

Naina controlled her laughter but failed and burst out laughing. Sameer stood awkwardly looking at her but was happy to see her laughing heartily at his expense. He could mess up the kitchen everyday if she would laugh this happily all the time. He wanted to be the reason for her smile and her happiness now and was feeling content after hearing her voice of laughter after so many days. He had missed watching her laugh this way. From the time he had arrived in Shimla, he had hardly seen her smiling, so this laughter was a balm over his guilty heart. He so wanted to take her in his arms and pamper her, sooth all her pain and hurt, but he could not do it for now.

Naina stopped laughing when she felt him approaching her. Her heart missed few beats as he stood close enough to her. Sameer took her face between his palms and wiped the corner of her eyes. He was happy wiping this wetness as this was the result of her hearty laughter.

Even after wiping the tears, he did not move his hands away. He asked huskily, "Bohot hasi aa rahi hai? Kyun?" She bit her lower lip to supress her laughter once again which distracted her husband as his eyes lowered to her pink luscious lips. The moment froze as she shivered watching the intensity of his gaze on her lips.

Sameer reluctantly moved his gaze from her lips and looked in her eyes. Their sweet bubble broke as the cooker whistled loudly and they moved away. She again looked around the kitchen platform and giggled. "Waise... aap kya banaa rahe hai?" He deliberately turned away and replied, "Main hamare liye dal rice banaa raha tha."

Naina waited for a few minutes till she heard the five whistles of the cooker. "Ab cooker utaar lijiye. Dal gal gayi hogi. Ab sirf tadka lagaana hai." Sameer followed her instructions and opened the lid of the cooker to check if the dal was properly boiled. Naina guided him through the rest of the recipe and he followed it quietly and made the rice again.

When Sameer served the dal rice for them, he was not sure if he had made it properly. He first tasted a spoonful of it himself and thought it was edible enough to eat. Again, he fed his wife and she did not resist it this time. She was surprised to see that Sameer was making efforts for the things he never did in his life so far. She was speechless watching him do that. No one had ever done this for her. She had learnt that Sameer was unpredictable these days. Though she had laughed heartily seeing the mess in the kitchen, she was touched watching his efforts.

Once done with their meal, Sameer picked their plates and cleaned the dining table. Naina had just taken a step towards the kitchen, when she heard his voice, "Naina... khabardaar... tumne sunaa naa doctor ne kya kahaa tha? Tumhe koi kaam nahi karna hai, bas aaram karna hai. Agar tum kitchen ki taraf mudi naa toh, toh... mujhse bura koi nahi hoga. Main... main sab saaf kar dunga. Tum chup chaap yahaan baitho. Main... main pehle tumhe medicines de deta hun."

Sameer rushed upstairs to her room and brought the medicines. She swallowed the tablets silently and watched her husband cleaning the kitchen counter. She felt bad that he had to do all the chores by himself. For the next couple of days, she could only guide him, till the sling on her arm was removed.

The flashbacks of the morning came rushing to her mind. She had been thinking about him only when she had slipped near the bathroom door. She had finished washing her clothes and then had forgotten to clean the bathroom. She had not told Sameer that the floor was slippery as she had forgotten to clean the soapy water from the floor. Her mind was full of his thoughts since last evening after they had returned from the NGO. His presence around her was affecting her more since last few days.

Sameer taking a stand for her in front of those unknown people in the NGO had blown her mind. Though she had gone quiet after the episode last day, her heart and mind were again battling amongst themselves. Her heart was already softening towards him while her mind was still alerting her to be careful.

Sameer returned after cleaning the kitchen and rinsing the vessels too. Naina was surprised to see that he had actually cleaned it very well, she had not expected that. She had noticed that the floor too seemed freshly cleaned. She asked curiously, "Sameer... aapne... aapne farsh bhi saaf kiya hai kya?" He rubbed his neck nervously and nodded, "Haan... wohh... tum so rahi thi toh, toh socha ki thodi ghar ki saaf safai kar deta hun." Naina gaped at him open mouthed. "Aapne... aapne kyun kiya? Main... main kar deti naa?"

Sameer folded his hands over his chest and asked, "Kaise karti tum?" She again shut her mouth and turned away from him. He approached her slowly and held her left elbow. When she turned, he saw her misty eyes. He had already anticipated that she must be crying. "Kyun ro rahi ho tum? Maine... maine kuch galat kar diya kya?"

Naina met his worried gaze and shook her head, "Nahi... wohh aapko meri wajah se yeh sab kaam karne pad rahe hai. Agar main subah thoda dhyaan deti toh girti nahi, aur yeh chot nahi lagti mujhe. I am sorry Sameer... aapko yeh sab kaam karna pad raha hai." Sameer wanted to take her in a hug so badly but controlled his urge.

"Naina... tumhe buraa lagaane ki zarurat nahi hai aur sorry kyun bol rahi ho? Tum jaanbujhkar toh nahi giri thi naa? Sach kahun toh mujhe yeh sab kaam karke mazaa aa raha hai. Aur yeh sab kaam sirf tum hi kyun karogi? Aage se main... main tumhe sab kaam karne mein help karunga. Ghar ka kaam sirf ladkiyon ne hi karna chahiye, yeh kaunsi kitaab mein likha hai? Infact, mujhe lagta hai ki sabko ghar ke kaam aana hi chahiye aur mil jhulkar karne chahiye. Maine jo kaam aajtak nahi kiye, wohh main ab se karunga. Aaj jab maine yeh sab kaam kiye tab samajh aaya ki kitna mushkil hai sab karna. Tum ladkiyaan kaise sab kaam ek saath kar lete ho? Ghar ka kaam aur office, dono saath mein sambhaalna kitna mushkil hai, wohh main ab samajh gaya hun. Isliye, aaj se sab kaam hum dono milkar karenge. Bas abhi ke yeh teen din tum mujhe sikhaa dena, kya kya aur kaise sab karna hai. Thik hai..."

Naina could only stare at her husband after hearing his words. Was he for real? He wanted to share the household chores with her? How could he do it? She had not seen this in any of the households till now. The Sameer Maheshwari was ready to learn the daily chores and help her. This actually came as a shock for her.

She stuttered, "Yeh... yeh aap kya bol rahe hai Sameer? Mere rehte hue aap... aap kaise kaam kar sakte hai? Abhi toh majboori hai, isliye aapko sab karna pad raha hai aur Naniji bhi nahi hai yahaan, par jab main thik ho jaaungi toh aap koi kaam nahi karenge. Kabhi kisi ladke ko ghar ke kaam karte hue dekha hai?"

Sameer held her shoulders and made her sit on the couch. He sat down near her knees and replied, "Mujhe yahi soch toh badalni hai Naina. Tum shaayad jaanti nahi ho, par jo students foreign jaate hai apne studies ke liye, unhe bhi yeh sab kaam sikhne padte hai, khud karne padte hai. Haannn... maanta hun ki house help use kar sakte hai, par jiska budget usse house help rakhne ko allow naa kare, unhe toh yeh sab khud hi karna padta hai. Agar hostel mein rehte ho, fir bhi kitne din tak baahar ka khana khaayenge. Ghar ka khaana ghar ka khaana hota hai aur ghar ka kaam karne mein kaunsi sharam? Hamare ghar mein bhi toh Ramdhari hi sab kaam karta hai naa? Sach kahun Naina, toh mujhe kabhi mauka nahi mila yeh sab karne ka, par ab jab mujhe yeh mauka mil raha hai toh main bhi sikhna chaahta hun. Meri nazar mein ladka aur ladki equal hai, toh kaam bhi milkar hi karna chahiye fir wohhh baahar ka kaam ho yaa ghar ka."

Naina just kept staring at the handsome man who was sitting near her knees. How could she be so lucky to have him as her life partner? And she stilled. What did she say? Her life partner? Had she forgiven him already? Her heart and mind battled again. Sameer saw the changing expressions on her face and knew that she was fighting herself yet again.

He got up and forwarded his hand towards her, "Ab room mein chalein?" That broke her trance and she held his hand. They walked back to her room together and he made her sit on the bed. He came downstairs and brought the ice packs.

Naina continued looking at him as he moved her dupatta away from her arm. He pushed the cloth away from her arm and held the ice pack where it was swollen. Naina shivered with his touch which was felt by Sameer too, but he did not react. Without moving his gaze from her arm, he asked, "Thand lag rahi hai?"

Naina lowered her eyes, "Ummm... haannn..." Sameer kept the ice pack on the bedside table and switched on the heater in her room. He knew that she had not shivered because of the ice pack. She was affected by his closeness which he did not regret at all. He continued placing the ice pack on her arm for another few minutes.

Naina was feeling sleepy due to the effect of the medicines and Sameer knew it instantly. He made her lie down on the bed and covered her with the thick blanket. The climate was chilly and so, he let the heater on. He sat down on the chair beside her bed and continued staring at her sleeping form.

His mind wandered, "Accha hua main yahin ghar mein tha, jab Naina subah giri. Agar main Naniji ko chodne bus station jaata toh pataa nahi Naina kaise khudko sambhaal paati. Pataa nahi, Naina kab mujhe poore dil se maaf karegi? Main... main koshish toh kar raha hun badalne ki aur meri koshish rang bhi laa rahi hai. Maine Naina ki aankhon mein aaj bhi mere liye pyaar dekha hai aur main jaanta hun ki wohh din dur nahi jab Naina mujhe sach mein maaf kar degi. Uska chehra padh sakta hun aur jaanta hun ki uska dil meri taraf jhook raha hai, par uska dimaag uska saath nahi de raha. Bohot jald Naina ka dil aur dimaag sirf ek hi naam bolega... Sameer... Sameer... Sameer... bas uss din ka mujhe besabri se intezaar rahega." With these thoughts, he too drifted to an uncomfortable sleep on the chair itself.

Naina opened her eyes after an hour or so and saw Sameer sleeping on the chair next to her bed. She stared at him and her eyes misted instantly. She herself did not know why her eyes watered. But she could feel her racing heartbeats. She remembered how he had helped her since morning and taken good care of her.

She got up slowly as still her arm and back were hurting. She sat on her bed in front of him and looked at his face closely. This was the perfect chance for her to watch him without any disturbance, she definitely could not do this when he was awake. Her finger itched to touch his silky hair that were falling on his forehead.

Unable to resist herself, her fingers brushed his hair away. Now, she can watch his face more clearly. She stared at him for a few more minutes. "Jaanta hun main bohot handsome hun, par ab zara mujhe ghoorna band karo, mujhe sharam aa rahi hai.", Sameer teased her without opening his eyes which shocked Naina. He was awake?

"Aap... aap jaag rahe hai?" Sameer opened his eyes and met her gaze. He saw the red tinge rising on her cheeks as he had caught her red-handed. He nodded, "Main toh bohot time se jaag raha hun. Bhala iss chair par kaise neend aa sakti hai?" He watched her arm and asked, "Ab bhi dukh raha hai?" She nodded, "Haann... thoda thoda dard hai abhi. Par subah se kamm hai."

Sameer wanted to tease her more for gawking at him but he resisted, he did not want to make her uncomfortable. He got up and forwarded his hand towards her. She looked at him and said, "Main... main khud chal sakti hun." He stared at her for a few seconds and then started walking towards the door, "Tum fresh ho jao Naina. Main chaai banaakar laata hun." He said without turning back and ran to his room to freshen up himself.

As Sameer was preparing tea for them, Naina stood behind him. "Aapne chaai banaana kab sikha?" He turned the gas off and poured the tea in two cups. "Mujhe Nanu ne chaai banaana sikhaaya hai. Jab bhi kahin outstation jaata toh khud banaa leta, kyunki mujhe wahaan ki banaayi hun chaai yaa coffee pasand hi nahi aati thi."

Naina asked, "Aap toh hamesha se coffee peete hai naa? Fir yeh chaai kyun pee rahe hai?" Sameer made her sit at the dining table and kept the tea cup in front of her along with a plate full of biscuits. He sat next to her and replied meeting her curious gaze, "Coffee mujhe sirf kisi khaas ke haathon se banaayi hui pasand hai, isliye main abhi filhaal apne haathon se bani iss chaai se kaam chala raha hun."

Naina flushed as his words registered and looked away. They had their tea in silence, both busy in their own thoughts. When Sameer asked her what she would like to have for dinner, she replied after a small pause, "Ummm... Kya hum aaj pizza order kar sakte hai? Mujhe... mujhe bohot mann kar raha hai pizza khaane ka."

Sameer knew that she was not a fan of junk food, so why she wanted to eat pizza tonight? And then as if something struck his mind and it dawned on him. She did not want him to cook and so, she was asking him to order pizza. He squinted his eyes and asked, "Tumhe kabse pizza khaane ka mann hone lagaa? Jahaan tak mujhe yaad hai tumhe yeh sab khaana pasand hi nahi hai, fir aaj achanak pizza khaane ka maan kyun ho raha hai tumhara?"

Naina gulped the rest of the tea and replied after thinking for a while, "Wohh... bas... aaj khaane ka mann kar raha hai, toh kar raha hai." She could not think of any appropriate reply. Sameer closed his eyes and took few deep breaths. "Naina... main jaanta hun ki tum nahi chaahti ki main kitchen mein koi kaam karun. Par iss samay baahar ka khaana khaana is not good for your health. Main jaanta hun ki main tumhari tarah accha khaana nahi banaa sakunga, par try toh kar sakta hun naa? Jaisa bhi ho, ghar ka banaa hoga."

Naina knew she was caught and did not fight him further. She said, "Thik hai... par main bhi yahin kitchen mein rahungi aapke paas, aapke saath." Sameer relented, "Thik hai. Waise bhi tumhare bina main khaana kaise banaa paaunga? Tum sirf mujhe guide karogi yahaan baithkar." She agreed and finally, the cooking class started.

Sameer's eyes watered as he started cutting onions while Naina looked at him sympathetically. As all ingredients were ready, she told him the whole procedure and he followed it sincerely. He made Dal khichdi for them and also fried some papads. While doing so, a drop of hot oil burnt his hand and he yelped.

Naina was beside him in a second, "Kya hua Sameer? Maine kahaa tha naa ki papad talne ki zarurat nahi hai. Main keh rahi ni naa kabse ki tel garam hai, zara dhyaan se papad daalna, par aap meri koi baat sunte hi nahi hai kuch." Sameer looked at her amused as she continued her rants and kept scolding him. She led him to the sink and kept his hand under running water.

While Naina was searching for something in the drawer, Sameer asked, "Kya dhoond rahi ho kabse?" Without turning to him, she replied, "Main... antiseptic cream dhoond rahi hun." And continued talking to herself, "Yaahin toh rakhi thi maine, ab kyun nahi mil rahi? Achaanak kahaan gaayab ho gayi?"

Sameer stood behind her and replied, "Uski zarurat nahi hai Naina, bas halki si chot hai, thik ho jaayegi. Tum... tum yeh sab chodo aur chalo khaana khaa lete hai." He held her hand again and pulled her towards the dining table. He again fed her the meal and gave her the medicines. He knew that something was wrong as he saw her touching her head again and again.

"Naina... tum thik toh ho naa? Bohot sardard ho raha hai kya? Main doctor ko bulaa dun?" She looked at him stunned as how he came to know about her pain. As if he could read her thoughts, he replied, "Tum kabse apne sar ko dabaaye jaa rahi ho. Toh lagaa ki shaayad tumhe headache ho raha hai."

Naina looked away and replied, "Haannn... wohhh shaam se hi halka halka headache ho raha hai." Sameer cleaned the dining table and their dishes quickly and led her to her room. As she was about to lie down on the bed, he stopped her. "Ruko Naina... main abhi aaya." He rushed to her washroom and she gaped at his retreating figure, "Yeh mere washroom mein kyun gaye?"

Sameer came back in a couple of minutes with a bottle of hair oil. He sat next to her, "Main abhi tumhare baal mein tel lagaa deta hun, fir dekhna kaise ek jhatke mein hi tumhara headache gaayab ho jaayega." Before Naina could stop him, he had already pulled the hairband open and her long hair cascaded down.

Sameer knew that she won't allow him to do this and so, before she could say anything, he had pulled her hairband. How could he miss this chance to touch her silky soft hair? Sameer sat behind her and opened the bottle. He took some hair oil in his palms and rubbed them together.

The moment his palms touched her scalp, she shuddered. How could she escape this? Her heart took over her mind this time and she closed her eyes, feeling his fingers brushing her hair every now and then. She reminisced the days when she used to give him a hair massage. She had wanted him to do the same someday to her too and when it was happening, she could not believe it. His touch was breaking her resistance power slowly and she feared to lose it this time.

Sameer was on cloud nine though. His dream to be close to her and applying hair oil to her hair made him happy. This is what he had wanted to do from a long time when Naina was staying with him in the Maheshwari Mansion. He had wanted to touch and feel her hair many times, but had resisted. But today, he had got that chance and he was not going to miss it for anything. Whenever he had headache, Naina used to oil his hair and now, he was doing it for her.

Once he applied hair oil to all her hair, he picked up the comb and started combing her hair. Naina stilled as he started combing and then tying her hair in a braid. The first thing that came to her mind was how came he knew to make a braid? Sameer though could not see her face, replied, "Ummm... maine kuch time pehle YouTube par videos dekhe the ki kaise baal bandhte hai, isliye yeh braid pehli baar try kar raha hun." He took few attempts to tie it properly and he finally succeeded on his fourth try.

Naina's eyes misted knowing very well that he was trying to help her and win back her love. She would never forget this day in her life as she had seen different shades of Sameer Maheshwari today. The rude and arrogant person was long forgotten and this new Sameer Maheshwari was a totally different person. What had not changed even now was his care for her and she was happy about it.

Once he was done, he spoke softly, "Ummm... ho gaya." He himself looked at the braid and thought, "Not bad..." Naina just touched her hair with her left hand and was sure that it was fine. Though it was a little loose, she did not say anything. His efforts were enough to shut her mouth. He asked, "Thik hai naa? Ab jaisa bhi banaa hai, tumhare paas aur koi option nahi hai." She turned to face him and smiled, "Thank you... main dekh toh nahi sakti par dekhe bina bhi keh sakti hun ki accha hi banaaya hai."

Sameer again walked towards her washroom to keep the bottle away and came back with a small bottle of balm. He made her rest on the bed and rubbed her forehead with the balm softly. Her eyes misted automatically and she closed her eyes instantly. Naina did not want him to see that his actions were breaking the walls that she had built since the day she left Ahmedabad. She did not know when she drifted to a peaceful sleep after so many days.

Sameer watched her serene face which reflected her pure heart and soul. He desperately wanted her to forgive him and accept their relationship. And he was sure that he was already half forgiven, or else she would not have allowed him to stay at the same bungalow. He just had to show his love, trust and care towards her and she would be his forever soon.

As he was about to get up, he felt a tug and was stunned to see that she had held his hand unconsciously in her sleep. He wanted to go back to his room but he could not. How could he leave her alone when she was so much in pain? Closing his eyes, he made a decision and stayed back in her room.

He again sat on the chair and continued watching her. After few minutes, his mobile rang and he knew who would call him this late. He picked up the call and talked to Preeti for the next few minutes softly. He could not leave the room as his hand was still in Naina's hold. He told Preeti about her best friend's condition and she panicked. He told her that he was taking care of her best friend and she would recover in the next couple of days.

The next morning, when Naina opened her eyes, she found Sameer sleeping uncomfortably on the chair again. The chair was quite close to her bed. Her heart pained watching him sleeping this way. Then she noticed that she had held his hand and understood that it was her who had stopped him from leaving her room.

Naina slowly loosened her hold and tried to get up. Her little movement woke him up too. He looked around and remembered that he had fallen asleep in her room last night. He looked at her with sleepy eyes and asked, "Tum... tum thik ho? Abhi bhi dard ho raha hai kya?"

"Abhi bas thoda thoda dard hai, par main thik hun ab." He nodded and asked again, "Tumhe... tumhe koi bhi help chahiye ho toh mujhe bulaa lena, main... main baahar hi hun." She agreed and went to get ready for the day. Sameer too went back to his room to freshen up.

It was over an hour that Naina had not come out of her room which made Sameer a little worried. The tea was already prepared along with some sandwiches. He paced outside his room. "Main pehle knock karta hun, shaayad Naina ready ho rahi ho. Agar koi jawaab nahi aaya toh main darwaaza kholkar andar chala jaata hun. Haannn... yahi thik hai."

Sameer knocked on the door twice but there was no reply. He again tapped the door but still no answer. He finally gave in to his decision and opened the door hesitantly. When he entered, he saw the entire room was quiet and empty as well. Naina was not there in her room. He walked towards the washroom and knocked, "Naina... Naina... tum... tum andar ho naa?"

"Ummm... Sameer... main... main thodi der mein baahar aa jaaungi... aap... aap jaaiye yahaan se." As he heard her panicked voice, he knew something was wrong. He tried again, "Dekho Naina... agar koi problem hai toh mujhe batao, main... main help kar dunga. Tumhari aawaaz sunnkar lagta hai ki zaroor koi problem hai. Bolo Naina... Kya hua hai?"

Naina was mortified. How could she tell him that she was unable to pull the zip of her dress? With so much difficulty she had worn that dress. She knew that this problem was going to arise, but she could not wear the other dresses too. This zip one was the one dress that she could pull on her body easily with a sprained arm.

Sameer spoke loudly this time breaking her thoughts, "Naina... baahar aao. Kya problem hai? Tumhe sling pehenne mein koi problem hai kya? Tum jaldi baahar aao, main tumhe waapis sling pehna dunga." Naina was not sure that what to do now and how to face him. His voice boomed again, "Naina... agar tum do minute mein baahar nahi aayi toh main... main darwaaza tod dunga. Aur tum jaanti ho ki main yeh sach mein kar sakta hun."

Naina had no choice left now. With slow steps, she opened the door and met his worried gaze. Sameer watched her as she stood at the entrance of the washroom uncomfortably. What shocked him more was the way the towel was wrapped around her shoulder.

"Kya hua hai Naina? Yeh... yeh towel kyun lapeta hai tumne? Dekho Naina... jaldi bolo kya baat hai." She closed her eyes for a minute. When she opened her eyes, she saw how tensed Sameer was. He was waiting for her reply.

She started hesitantly, "Sameer... wohh... wohhh... Main mere dress... dress ki zip... zip band nahi kar paa rahi hun." He looked at her stunned. He now understood her problem and looked at her dress again. His eyes stayed at her face for a few moments and he asked, "Main... main band kar dun."

Naina's face heated as she heard his question. How could she allow him to do that? But did she have any other option. Who else would help her in this situation right now, even Naniji was not here?s She contemplated for a few minutes while Sameer kept looking at her changing expressions.

He said, "Main... main aankhen band rakhunga Naina... let me help you. Kab tak hum dono yahaan aise hi khade rahenge?" She knew he meant his words. When he said, he would close his eyes, then he would. And who was she lying to? She trusted him despite whatever happened in their past.

Making up her mind, she met his gaze. "Thik hai, par... par aapko aankhen band karne ki zarurat nahi hai." These words made his heart race rapidly. Everything went in a slow motion in front of his eyes as she turned her back to him. Before she could take off the towel, he placed her hand on hers and stopped her.

Naina did not know what he was doing. But then, she felt his touch and she shuddered. He pulled the zip up slowly under the towel and ignited each and every cell of her body. He too shivered with this new intimacy between them. He had never done this before. They could clearly hear their erratic heartbeats in that silent room.

Once the zip was done with, Naina pulled the towel away. He helped her to wear the sling again and then quietly left for breakfast. They had their meal in silence. Both of them did not know how to start the conversation again. It was very much awkward for Naina to meet his gaze. Whatever happened in her room a while ago replayed in her mind on a loop. Even now, her skin tingled where he had touched her.

Sameer got a call from Abhimanyu while Naina called up Preeti and talked to her. When they were discussing something about Preeti's café, Naina heard some voice coming from the terrace. She continued talking to her best friend and walked towards the terrace slowly.

She stood at the entrance and saw Sameer arranging the strings of his guitar. She knew that Sameer had not posted any video since he had started staying in this bungalow. Sameer adjusted the camera too and took his place on a bean bag that was kept at the terrace.

As he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, he inhaled her fragrance. His eyes moved towards the entrance and he started singing,

Neele Neele Ambar Par, Chand Jab Aaye...

Pyaar Barsaaye, Humko Tarsaaye...

Aisa Koi Saathi Ho, Aisa Koi Premi Ho...

Pyaas Dil Ki Bujha Jaaye...

Neele Neele Ambar Par, Chand Jab Aaye...

Pyaar Barsaaye, Humko Tarsaaye...

Oonche Oonche Parvat Jab Choomte Hain Ambar Ko...

Pyaasa Pyaasa Ambar Jab Choomta Hai Sagar Ko...

Pyaar Se Kasne Ko, Baahon Mein Basne Ko...

Dil Mera Lalchaaye, Koi Toh Aa Jaaye...

Aisa Koi Saathi Ho, Aisa Koi Premi Ho...

Pyaas Dil Ki Bujha Jaaye...

Neele Neele Ambar Par, Chand Jab Aaye...

Pyaar Barsaaye, Humko Tarsaaye...

Thande Thande Jhonke Jab Baalon Ko Sehlaayein...

Tapti Tapti Kirne Jab Gaalon Ko Chhoo Jaayein...

Saanson Ki Garmi Ko, Haathon Ki Narmi Ko...

Mera Mann Tarsaaye, Koi Toh Choo Jaaye...

Aisa Koi Saathi Ho, Aisa Koi Premi Ho...

Pyaas Dil Ki Bujha Jaaye...

Neele Neele Ambar Par, Chand Jab Aaye...

Pyaar Barsaaye, Humko Tarsaaye...

Chham Chham Karta Saavan Boondon Ke baan Chalaaye...

Satrangi Barsaaton Mein Jab Tan Mann Bheega Jaaye...

Pyaar Mein Nahaane Ko, Doob Hi Jaane Ko...

Dil Mera Tadpaye, Khwaab Jagaa Jaaye...

Aisa Koi Saathi Ho, Aisa Koi Premi Ho...

Pyaas Dil Ki Bujha Jaaye...

Neele Neele Ambar Par, Chand Jab Aaye...

Pyaar Barsaaye, Humko Tarsaaye...

Sameer sang the whole song looking at her while Naina stood at the entrance mesmerised. She was so lost in listening to his wonderful voice that she had forgotten that Preeti was still on the call. She too had heard Sameer's song and was impressed with it. She knew that her best friend had probably forgotten all about her and was busy gawking at her husband. She disconnected the call from her end and decided to talk to her best friend about him later.

Sameer kept the guitar away and stopped the video recording. Picking up all the things, he walked towards her. Naina was still standing at the entrance and had not moved an inch. Sameer clicked his fingers in front of her eyes and asked huskily, "Kaisa lagaa gaana?" She looked away red-faced and replied, "Accha tha..."

Sameer smiled looking at her flushed state and thought to let it go for now. She had been standing at the door for a while now and needed to rest. They walked back to the living room and the rest of the day passed with Sameer taking care of his wife.

That night when Naina went to bed, she spoke, "Sameer... main... main ab thik hun... aap aapke kamre mein sone jaa sakte hai." Though he did not want to leave her alone, he agreed half-heartedly. That night both did not sleep a wink. Both were restless for some reason.

It was Monday the next day and Naina had to go to her office. Sameer tried to convince her to rest for a day more, but she refused. He agreed reluctantly on one condition that he would drop her to the office and pick her up too. Naina too agreed and they left towards her office. Sameer met Aarav and told him to look after her. He could not stay around her in the office and make her uncomfortable. Bidding goodbye to them, he left towards the NGO.

The next few days, Sameer took care of Naina and was beside her all the time. The sling was removed and she was fine now, yet she did not stop Sameer from dropping her to office and picking her up. Everyone knew by now that they were married and no one dared to talk behind their backs. Naniji was not back yet, she called them every day and kept in touch.

It was another weekend when the doorbell rang early in the morning. When Naina opened the door, she screamed in happiness looking at the couple standing in front of her. "Preeti... Pandit... tum dono... yahaan kaise???"

Her scream was enough to wake up the entire neighbourhood. Sameer came running downstairs and was shocked to find his best friend and his wife's best friend at the door. Preeti hugged Naina tightly while Pandit and Sameer hugged and patted each other's backs. Sameer and Naina were happy to have their best friends in Shimla.

While Naina took Preeti to her room, Sameer pulled Pandit in his. When they met for breakfast after an hour or so, Naina went to make coffee for them while the others remained seated in the living room.

Sameer turned to Preeti and asked, "Kaisi ho Preeti?" She shifted next to him and hugged him. "Main tum dono ko dekhne ke baad ab ekdum mazze mein hun. Tum batao baat kahaan tak pohonchi?" He looked towards the kitchen and replied, "Naina ne ab tak lafzon mein kahaa nahi hai ki usne mujhe maaf kar diya, par uski aankhon mein wohi pyaar, wohi izzat, sab dekh sakta hun main. Bas zubaan par abhi tak wohh baat nahi aayi. Hum dono ke beech sab pehle jaisa ho toh gaya hai, par baat wahin hai jahaan pehle thi. Naina ne mujhe ab tak maaf nahi kiya hai."

Sameer'e eyes misted and Preeti wiped them away, "Fikar not... main ab aa gayi hun naa, toh hum sab milkar Naina ko manaa hi lenge... Kyun Jijaaji?"

FATE TWISTED BY LOVE

CHAPTER 60

Naina was too happy with the arrival of her best friend cum sister. Though she had been talking to her every day, she had missed her terribly. Naina herself had wanted to meet her, but then she had pushed that thought away. She had wanted to share her feelings with someone desperately and who could have been better than her very own best friend. But how could she meet her? She couldn't go to Ahmedabad or ask Preeti to come down to Shimla. But now that her best friend was here, she was more than happy.

Preeti was well updated about Samaina's relationship through Sameer and was waiting to hear the good news, which never happened. Sameer had cried many times during their calls which had also been one of the major reasons for Preeti to come down to Shimla. These past two weeks had brought her closer to Sameer whom she had hated with all her might with whatever he had done with her best friend. She herself couldn't believe that she had forgiven him and was helping him to win over his wife and love. She also knew that her best friend would never open her heart while having conversation on the phone. And it was high time that her friend needed a reality check. She had to break her shell to make her speak and she had to be here to do that.

All of them were just done with their breakfast when the doorbell rang again. Sameer and Naina were delighted as they saw Naniji entering the house. They touched her feet and then settled in the living room. While Naina and Preeti were busy making tea and snacks for Naniji, Sameer was updating her about all that had happened in her absence.

Naniji spoke, "Itna sab ho gaya aur tumne mujhe kuch bataaya nahi Sameer? Main roz phone karti thi, aur tumne ek baar bhi nahi bataaya ki Naina gir gayi aur usse itni lag gayi thi?" Sameer replied after a pause, "Naniji... aap wahaan apni behen ka khayaal rakhne gayi thi aur uss waqt hum aapko bataa dete ki Naina gir gayi hai, toh aapko chinta hoti. Aur sach sach bataaiye, kya aapko Naina ki fikar nahi hoti wahaan? Aap bhale hi wahaan apni behen ke saath the, fir bhi aapka mann yahin rehta aur aap khaamakha pareshaan rehti."

As Naina walked out of the kitchen holding a tray of tea cups, she replied, "Sahi keh rahe hai Sameer... Humne jaan bujhkar aapko kuch nahi bataaya. Hum aapko pareshaan nahi karna chaahte the Naniji." Naniji interrupted, "Naina beti... chinta toh hoti hi naa, aakhir tum dono bhi ab mera parivaar ho. Agar tum dono bataa dete toh main kisi kaamwali ka intezaam kar deti jisse ghar ke kaam karne mein tumhe madad mil jaati."

Sameer shared a look with Naina and she continued, "Naniji... uski zarurat hi nahi thi. Sameer.... Sameer ne sab sambhaal liya tha acche se." And then, Naina told them how he had done all the work and taken care of her. Apart from Preeti, Naniji and Pandit were shocked to hear all of it.

Pandit asked, "Bhai... tune... tune... khaana banaaya? Tune... tune ghar ki saaf safaai ki?" He looked at his girlfriend and said, "Mujhe zara pinch karo Preeti... mujhe inn sab baaton par bilkul yakeen nahi ho raha hai. Mere dost ne yeh sab kiya, yeh main maan hi nahi sakta?"

Preeti pinched him hard and he yelped, "Itni zor se kyun pinch kiya?" She shrugged, "Tumne hi toh kahaa tha pinch karne ko. Jo tumne kahaa, wohi toh kiya maine." Glaring at him, she continued, "Aur iss mein naa maan-ne waali kya baat hai? Waise mujhe koi shak nahi hai ki Sameer ne yeh sab Naina ke liye kiya." Turning to her boyfriend again, she asked, "Agar main gir jaati toh kya tum meri help nahi karte?" Before Pandit could reply, she continued in a warning tone, "Agar nahi karte naa toh main khud tumse maar maar kar saara kaam karvaati. Kuch sikho apne dost se kaise Naina ka dhyaan rakh raha hai, aur ek tum ho, jab dekho tab mahashay apne office mein busy hote hai. Mere liye toh time hi nahi hai janaab ke paas."

Sameer, Naina and Naniji enjoyed their antics. Pandit patted his best friend's back, "Waahhhh Sameer... tune toh hamara sar garv se ooncha kar diya. Nanu kitna khush honge yeh jaankar ki unke Sameer ne ghar ka itna sab kaam kiya. Abhi Chenu ko bhi bataata hun. I am sure usse bhi meri tarah pehle yakeen nahi hoga." Leaning forward, he whispered, "Kya yaar, kahaan phasaa diya tune? Ab jab bhi main koi help nahi karunga, toh meri girlfriend hamesha mujhe taane maaregi." Preeti who was looking at him closely, said sternly, "Sunaa maine..."

Pandit gave her a wide smile, "Arey... Main bas aise hi..." Trying to divert the conversation, he turned towards Naina and asked, "Sameer ne khaana kaisa banaaya tha? Khaane laayak toh tha naa? Iske khaane ki wajah se tumhari tabiyat aur kharaab toh nahi hui naa?" Sameer threw a pillow in his direction and Pandit ducked already anticipating it from his best friend. Pandit continued the teasing further, "Munna aur Nanu ko bataana padega ki kaise Sameer ab joru ka ghulaam bann gaya hai..."

Sameer ran behind Pandit around the living room while the others kept laughing watching the tom and jerry show. Naniji was happy with the joyful atmosphere in her house. Now, her home was alive in every sense, she thought to herself. She wiped her happy tears and joined Pandit in teasing his best friend.

Naina flushed several times when Sameer was being teased. Her best friend raised her eyebrows, asking in gestures about the rising colour on her face, but Naina just looked away, not ready to answer herself.

Naniji had brought some sweets from Delhi which was served as dessert for their lunch which was ordered from a nearby restaurant as they kept chatting about everything. Naniji told them about her stay in Delhi and her sister's health whereas Pandit and Preeti discussed about their respective works in Ahmedabad. They even updated about Nanu's health and Munna's tour to New York for their next project.

After relishing the meal, everyone retired to their rooms. There was still some time for Sameer and Naina to go to the NGO. Whilst in the rooms, Naina asked Preeti if she wanted to come to the NGO with her and she agreed. Even Pandit tagged along with them to see the place.

While Naina was busy in her classes, Sameer showed Pandit and Preeti around the NGO. He then led them to the hall which was vacant at that time. He had wanted to talk to them alone. He wanted to plan something and as his friends were here now; they could help him too.

As they settled themselves on the chairs, Sameer started, "Accha hua tum dono Shimla aa gaye. Bohot dino se main sabko bohot miss kar raha tha. Naina ko yahaan akele chodkar main Ahmedabad nahi aa sakta tha. Tum dono ko yahaan dekhkar main bohot bohot khush hun." Pandit and Preeti smiled at him with misty eyes and replied, "Hum bhi tumhe miss kar rahe the, isliye tumse aur Naina se milne aa gaye", Pandit spoke and Preeti nodded.

Sameer smiled at the couple and continued, "Waise kal NGO ka foundation day hai aur kal dophar se yahaan celebration hoga, jisme bohot kuch hoga. Mr Iyer, jo iss NGO ke founder aur owner hai, unhone mujhe isse organise karne ko kahaa hai. Pehle samajh nahi aa raha tha ki main kaise manage karunga, par ab tum dono aa gaye ho toh main isse sambhaal lunga. Aur mujhe kuch aur help bhi chahiye hai."

While the couple looked at him in confusion, he continued, "Main ab Naina se durr nahi reh sakta. Mujhe... mujhe ab meri Naina chahiye. Do hafton se upar ho gaya hai, aur Naina ne mujhe ab tak maaf hi nahi kiya hai. Uski aankhon mein main saaf saaf khud ke liye pyaar dekh sakta hun, par Naina usse itni aasaani se nahi kahegi ab. Jab tak wohh mujhe poori tarah maaf nahi kar deti, wohh baat uski zubaan par nahi aayegi. Kal ke celebration mein kuch karna hoga. Ab tum dono bhi yahaan ho, toh please kuch socho, kaise Naina mujhe maaf karegi. Mujhe... mujhe tum dono ki help chahiye hai iss mein."

Pandit saw his friend's misty eyes and it pained him to see him in this condition. He said, "Sameer... kuch sochte hai. Kuch toh karna hoga kal, yeh mauka hum aise hi nahi jaane de sakte." Preeti saw through his desperation to be with his love and knew it was high time that something had to be done. She replied, "Ussi ke liye toh hum Shimla aaye hain Sameer... Bolo... tumne kuch socha hai?"

Preeti rested her head on Pandit's shoulder and continued, "Sameer... Main samajh sakti hun ki tumhare dil par kya beet rahi hai. Jab se Naina tumhe chodkar gayi thi aur khaaskar inn do hafton mein maine tumhari tadap dekhi hai, tumhara Naina ke liye pyaar bhi dekha hai. Aur aaj wohi tadap, wohi pyaar maine Naine ki aankhon mein bhi dekha hai tumhare liye. Jahaan tak main Naina ko samajhti hun, main itna keh sakti hun ki usne tumhe maaf kar diya hai Sameer, par kuch hai, jo usse rok raha hai wohh bolne se."

Sameer asked, "Wohi toh samajh nahi aa raha ki Naina ko kya rok raha hai? Uski aankhen mujhse bohot kuch keh jaati hai, jo uski zubaan nahi bol paa rahi. Usse ab bolna hoga Preeti... Ab uski khamoshi mujhse bardaasht nahi ho rahi. Main chaahta hun ki jo baat uske dil mein hai, wohh mujhse share kare. Main... main sunna chaahta hun, Naina se bohot kuch kehna chaahta hun Preeti..."

Preeti went quiet for a few minutes and replied, "Naina ko shaayad darr lag raha hoga ki kahin fir se tumne uska dil tod diya toh? Kabhi waapis usse gold-digger aur characterless kahaa toh? Sameer ek ladki ke liye uski self-respect, uski dignity, uska character bohot important hota hai, aur tumne ussi ko jyaada chot pahunchaayi hai. Naina ko shaayad issi ka darr hai ki kahin waapis tum inhi sab cheezon par ungli naa uthaao. Aisa toh nahi hai ki Naina tumhare pyaar ko nahi dekh paa rahi, usse sab acche se dikh bhi raha hai, aur wohh sab acche se samajh bhi rahi hai. Jo tumne yeh peechle kuch dinon mein uske liye kiya hai naa Sameer, uss se Naina bohot affect hui hai. Par kuch important hai jo usse bhi samjhaana hoga."

Preeti sat straight on her chair and faced the guys, "Ab meri baat dhyaan se suno. Kal celebration hai, aur jaise Sameer ne kahaa ki isse accha mauka hume nahi mil sakta Naina ko sab ehsaas karwaane ka." Preeti told them her plan and they listened attentively. Once she was done, Sameer just sprung out of his chair and pulled Preeti for a hug. Pandit too joined the hug and they stayed in that group hug for a few minutes, each one crying silently.

They discussed their plan in detail and included Mr Iyer too. Afterall, he was the founder and owner of the NGO. With his permission, they set their plan in motion. Sameer and Pandit took care of the arrangements while Preeti helped the kids with their performances.

Naina was aware about the foundation day and had been kept away from the arrangements and was asked to look after the kids' preparations only. Preeti told Naina to look after the kids' costumes and other necessities while she would help the kids with their performances.

It was late night when they reached home where Naniji was already waiting for them. They had their dinner and discussed their schedule for the next day. Naniji too was invited for the celebration and she was too excited for it. When Naina, Preeti and Pandit retired to the rooms, Sameer informed Naniji of their plan.

Naniji was a little worried, "Sameer... yeh sab karne se aage koi problem nahi hogi naa? Kahin Naina waapis inn sabse gussa naa ho jaaye? Jo baatein wohh yaad bhi nahi karna chaahti unhi ko dohraakar, tum firse usse hurt naa kar do beta. Main tum dono ko ab saath mein khush dekhna chaahti hun."

Sameer replied, "Nahi Naniji... Naina ko ab iska saamna karna hoga. Kab tak hamare past se bhaagegi wohh. Kabhi naa kabhi yeh sab face toh karna hi padega. Aur Naniji... nayi zindagi ki shuruwaat karne se pehle, beeti hue kal ko peeche chodna hoga, usse bhulna hoga, tab hi toh hum hamare rishtey mein aage badh paayenge. Bas hum jaisa soch rahe hai waisa hi ho aur sab jaldi thik ho jaaye. Naina meri biwi hai, main usse bohot pyaar karta hun. Do hafton se upar ho gaya hai Naniji, Naina itna paas hokar bhi kitni durr hai mujhse. Ab yeh duri nahi seh paaunga main. Nanu bhi Ahmedabad mein akele reh rahe hai. Bhale main unse roz phone par baat karta hun, par bohot miss karta hun unko. Jaise Naina meri zindagi hai, waise Nanu bhi hai."

Naniji placed her hand on his shoulder and replied, "Main bhi yahi chaahti hun ki tum dono ke beech sab jaldi thik ho jaaye aur tum Naina ko apne saath Ahmedabad le jaao, apne ghar le jao. Main tum dono ko khush dekhna chaahti hun. Bohot taklifon se guzre ho tum dono, bas ab sab jaldi thik ho jaayega Sameer... bas haar mat maan-na. Kal jo bhi ho uske liye taiyaar rehna. Mera aashirwaad hamesha tum dono ke saath hai."

When Sameer entered his room, he saw Pandit was busy with the preparations of the next day. He smiled to himself, "Aate hi mera saara kaam sambhaal liya. Pandit aur Munna nahi hote toh mera kya hota?" As Pandit sensed his presence, he looked up and saw Sameer's eyes misting up. He ran to him and engulfed his friend in a tight hug. When they parted, Sameer spoke, "Tu aur Munna meri zindagi mein nahi hote toh pataa nahi main sab akele kaise manage karta." Pandit wiped his tears and called Munna. The three friends continued talking and Munna was updated about everything. As they finished with the call, they were back to talking about the other day's plan.

On the other side, Preeti and Naina talked about everything that Naina had missed since the day she had left Ahmedabad. Preeti told her best friend everything that happened in her absence in detail. Naina was shocked when she came to know how Sameer found out about Kabir and Nisha. Though she was happy to hear that they were engaged, she felt sad somewhere.

Preeti asked, "Kya soch rahi hai Naina? Tu... tu mujhe bataa sakti hai. Main... main promise karti hun ki main teri baat shaanti se sunungi, kuch nahi bolungi beech mein, bas tu kuch bol Naina. Main sunna chaahti hun."

Naina looked at her teary eyed and hugged her instantly. She cried for a while and spoke between her sobs, "Main Nanaji ko miss kar rahi hun Preeti. Sach kahun, jab uss ghar se nikli thi tab ek baar bhi maine Nanaji ke baare mein nahi socha. Itni hurt hui thi ki unka khayaal hi nahi aaya, bas apne dard mein hi kho gayi thi. Ab main unse roz baat karti hun, par kahin naa kahin mujhe yeh baat khatakti hai ki maine unke baare mein ek baar bhi nahi socha."

Preeti squeezed her hand and Naina continued, "Preeti... tumhe sab toh pataa hi hai. Main kinn haalaat mein wahaan se nikli thi. Uss waqt mujhe mere dard ke alaawa kuch aur dikh hi nahi rahaa tha. Wohh toh shukar hai bhagwaanji ka ki mujhe Naniji mil gayi aur unhone mujhe unke ghar mein rehne ki jagah di, warna pataa nahi main kahaan rehti, kaise sab akele manage karti?"

Preeti as promised was quietly listening to her best friend's journey till now. When she finished speaking, Preeti asked, "Naina... kya... kya tune Sameer ko maaf kar diya?" This question was haunting Naina too. She wasn't ready herself to answer this. She turned to her best friend and spoke, "Sameer ne peechle dinon mein mere liye jo bhi kiya hai, uske baad main kaise unse naaraaz reh sakti hun. Par..."

Preeti instantly asked, "Par?" Naina wiped her tears, "Par pataa nahi kyun, main iss baat ko keh nahi paa rahi... Aise lagta hai ki kuch hai jo mujhe rok raha hai. Jaise hi main Sameer se yeh kehne ki koshish karti hun, mere mooh se wohh shabd nikal hi nahi paate. Kuch bojh sa hai mere dil mein, jaise maine... maine bhi kuch galat kiya hai. Pataa nahi kyun main khud kuch samajh nahi paa rahi."

Preeti who was listening to her, already knew the reason behind the heaviness that her best friend was feeling in her heart. She hugged her tightly, "Don't worry behna, main ab aa gayi hun naa. Hum milkar sab thik kar denge." Though Preeti wanted to point out many things that was making Naina feel this way, but she remained silent. They were already going to do something which was going to make Naina come out of her shell. Preeti just hoped that all would end well after the celebration.

Naina and Preeti were still talking, when suddenly they heard Sameer's voice...

Mujhe raat din bas mujhe chaahti ho...

Mujhe raat din bas mujhe chaahti ho...
Kaho naa kaho mujhko sab kuch pataa hai...
Haan karun kya mujhe tum bataati nahin ho...
Chhupaati ho mujhse ye tumhari khataa hai...
Mujhe raat din bas mujhe chaahti ho...

Meri bekaraari ko hadd se badhana...
Tumhe khoob aata hai baatein banaana...
Nigaahen milaake yun mera chain lena...
Sataake mohabbat mein yun dard dena...
Mujhe dekhke aise palken jhukaana...
Sharaarat nahin hai to phir aur kyaa hai...
Mujhe raat din bas mujhe chaahti ho...

Tumhe neend aayegi ab naa mere bin...
Mujhe hai yakin aisa aayega ek din...
Khuli teri zulfon mein soya rahunga...
Tere hi khayaalon mein khoya rahunga...
Kabhi gaur se meri aankhon mein dekho...
Meri jaan tumhara hi chehra chhupaa hai...

Mujhe raat din bas mujhe chaahti ho...
Kaho naa kaho mujhko sab kuch pataa hai...
Haan karun kya mujhe tum bataati nahin ho...
Chhupaati ho mujhse ye tumhari khataa hai...
Mujhe raat din bas mujhe chaahti ho...

As Sameer finished his song, he opened his eyes which clashed with the ones for whom he had sung it in the first place. Pandit and Preeti saw the intense eye lock between the couple and stood silently for a few minutes. Preeti couldn't take it anymore and spoke teasingly, "Haaayee... Sameer... tum kitna accha gaate ho..." That broke their sweet bubble and they came back to reality.

Pandit smirked looking at his best friend while Naina just looked away for being caught red-handed for staring at her husband. Before she could leave the room, Preeti caught hold of her and asked, "Waise Naina... tune bola nahi... tujhe Sameer ka gaana kaisa lagaa?" As she saw the colour rising on her best friend's face, she turned to Sameer and continued, "Waise Sameer... maine tumhe pehle bhi gaate sunaa hai, par aaj jo tumne gaaya naa, wohhh kuch alag sa lagaa. Ummm... kuch special tha aaj?"

Sameer had noticed the red tint on his wife's face and replied looking at her, "Special toh hai..." Pandit interrupted, "Preeti... tumhe khud hi samajh jaana chahiye tha. Special toh hogaa hi naa... Waise maine Sameer se kahaa ki kisi aise insaan ke baare mein sochkar gaaye, jisse wohh bohot pyaar karta hai. Toh bas, mere bhai ne wohi kiya... Kisi khaas ko dhyaan mein rakhkar usne itna badhiya gaana gaa diya.", he said looking at Naina.

Before Sameer could say anything, Naina bid them goodnight and ran towards her room. She wasn't ready to take any more teasing from her friends right now. Her heart and mind were again battling and she was tired of it. Why can't her heart and mind agree to one thing for once which would just simplify her life?

Sameer saw his wife running away from him yet again and now he was tired of it too. Closing his eyes, he mumbled, "Bas... ek aur din Naina... uske baad tum meri hogi, mere paas hogi, mere saath hogi, hamesha ke liye." Pandit patted his shoulder while Preeti gave him a soft smile, "Ab so jaate hai. Kal subah jaldi bhi uthna hai, aur bohot jyaada kaam hai. Bohot saari preparations bhi karni hai." Bidding goodnight to them, Preeti left the room.

The next morning brought a solace for Sameer as he was hopeful to get his wife back by the end of that day. Without meeting Naina, he and Pandit left towards the NGO to make all the arrangements. When the girls joined Naniji for breakfast, they came to know that the boys had already left early.

Naina glanced at the chair a couple of times where Sameer usually used to sit during their meals which didn't escape the others' eyes. They were happy that their plan had started off on a good note. They saw Naina having her meal as fast as she could so that she too could leave for the NGO. But Preeti was devouring her meal quite slowly which irritated her best friend very much.

"Preeti... Kitna aaraam se khaa rahi hai? Jaldi jaldi khaa, hume bhi NGO jaana hai. Bohot saari taiyaariyaan bhi karni hai. Mujhe toh sab bacchon ke kapde bhi collect karne hai market se. Tu itna aaraam se khaayegi toh kuch bhi time par nahi hoga." Preeti ignored her words and continued eating her meal as slowly as she could. But Naina was running out of patience, so she simply glared at her for a second and then pulled her plate away. "Bohot khaa liye tune, ab chal. Hume late ho raha hai."

Preeti pulled her plate again and continued eating, "Arey Naina... kya ghaai lagi hai tujhe? Mujhe thik se khaa toh lene de, fir chalte hai. Waise bhi tujhe sirf bacchon ke kapdon ki hi arrangement dekhni hai naa? Toh tu aaraam se market jaana aur kapde collect kar lena. Aur main abhi NGO chali jaaungi directly. Bacchon ko acche se rehearsals bhi karwaane hai naa? Tu aaraam se aana. Thik hai."

Naina gasped as she heard her best friend's words. She was at loss of words. How could she tell Preeti that she wanted to go with her to NGO? She wanted to have a glimpse of her husband before she started the work for the day. Naniji could clearly read all the expressions on Naina's face and was glad that their plan was working. Preeti too had glanced at her best friend who was still lost in her thoughts.

Preeti finished her meal and got up, "Chal Naina... main NGO jaa rahi hun. Tu aaram se aana." Giving her a side hug, Preeti left the house with a winning smile. Naina was feeling anxious for some reason and had wanted to go after her friend. But she controlled, she couldn't let anyone see through her anxiety which already Naniji and Preeti had seen on her face.

In the NGO, Sameer kept busy with the preparations. His mind wandered when he had left house in the morning. He had desperately wanted to have a glimpse of Naina before he left, but then he was pulled by his best friend who asked him to curb his impatience for at least a day. It was just an hour left before the function started and he was pacing the decorated hall all worked up.

On the other hand, Naina had reached the shop where all children's outfits for the performances were being made. To her horror, the shopkeeper asked her to wait for another hour as the outfits weren't ready. She sat there for almost one and half hour more, before she was handed all the required costumes. Even though she was pissed with the shopkeeper, she checked all the outfits one by one carefully. Once satisfied, she paid him the balance amount and left in a haste. The peon had already been waiting there along with her to carry the bags to the NGO.

Once Naina reached the NGO, she didn't have much time to look around for Sameer. Preeti who was waiting for her best friend pulled her towards the room where children were waiting for the costumes to get ready. Naina and Preeti helped the kids to get ready fast. Once the task was done, they heaved a sigh of relief and sat on the nearby chairs all tired.

Once the kids left towards the hall, Preeti pulled out two bags from the nearby table and forwarded one of them to Naina. "Yeh le... jaldi se change kar le, warna hume bhi late ho jaayega. Abhi sirf pandrah minute bache hai celebration shuru hone mein." Without waiting for Naina's reply, she hurried towards the washroom to change herself.

Naina was confused. She didn't remember packing any spare dress for the celebration. Had Preeti brought it? No... she too hadn't packed anything in the morning. Then from where had this bag appeared? Out of curiosity, Naina opened the bag and pulled out a dark blue coloured embroidered anarkali dress which had a golden border around the dress and was paired with a golden dupatta. She also found a packet which included two golden bangles and golden jhumkas.

Preeti appeared in front of her at the precise moment and asked, "Kaisa lagaa?" Naina stared at her best friend and again before she could ask anything, Preeti pushed her inside the washroom to change. Preeti had already left when Naina came out after changing into that Anarkali dress. It fitted her perfectly. She had only five minutes left to head towards the hall. She hurriedly wore the bangles and the jhumkas. Her eyes caught sight of the pink lipstick that was lying on the table. It had been a long time that she hadn't used any kind of makeup since she left from Ahmedabad. Taking few deep breaths, she finally decided to use the makeup today.

By the time she was ready to leave, she heard her best friend's voice, "Naina... Chal... aur kitni der lagegi tujhe? Function shuru hone hi waala hai. Tu..." She stopped midsentence when she saw her. "Naina... tu toh ekdum kamaal lag rahi hai iss dress mein aur... aur..." Naina combed her open hair and turned to face her best friend. "Ab late nahi ho raha." Preeti shook her head and smiled, "Haaan... haaan... pataa hai... late ho raha hai. Par pehle ek baar main meri behen ko acche se dekh toh lun." Preeti walked around her, taking in her attire. Looping her arm around her shoulder, Preeti whispered, "Aaj kisiki par toh qayamat aanewaali hai." Naina tried to hide her blush and replied sternly, "Chal ab... sab intezaar kar rahe honge." As they left towards the hall, Preeti teased, "Acchaaji... sab intezaar kar rahe honge, yaa koi khaas wait kar raha hoga." Naina ignored her teasing and hurried towards the hall.

When they entered the hall, she looked around for the person whom she had so desperately wanted to have a glimpse from the morning. She kept looking around but she didn't find him anywhere. Mr Iyer came forward and spoke, intruding her search, "Arey Naina... kahaan reh gayi thi? Chalo ab aage jaakar baith jao, function abhi shuru hone hi wala hai." Before she could ask him about Sameer's whereabouts, Preeti had pulled her ahead and they settled themselves on the front seats besides Naniji's seat.

Mr Iyer stepped up on the stage and started with the function. He spoke for a few minutes about the NGO and its accomplishments. As he finished, he called out, "Ab main uss shaks ko stage pe bulaana chahta hun, jo yahaan bas kuch do hafton se hai, par aisa lagta hai jaise hum unhe bohot pehle se jaante hai. Inn kuch dinon mein inhone sab bacchon ke saath saath yahaan ke har ek insaan ka dil apni surili awaaz se jeet liya hai. Bohot kamm waqt mein hi yeh hamare NGO ka ek atoot hissa bann gaye hai. Main Mr Sameer Maheshwari ko iss stage pe bulaana chaahta hun, jo iss function ko aage badhaayenge."

Applauses roared in the entire hall as Sameer came forward and stepped up on stage. Naina gasped as she saw the man of her dreams right in front of her eyes dressed in a dark blue blazer paired with white shirt and dark blue denims. She forgot to breathe as she saw her man taking over the mike from Mr Iyer.

The moment their eyes locked, she forgot the whole world around her. They didn't blink and continued staring at each other, drinking in each other's sight. The desperation to get a single glimpse right from the morning had been playing in their minds. Sameer too couldn't look away from his lady love. Watching her finally dressed in the dress brought by him made him happy. Her open hair, the slight blush on her cheeks, her doe shaped eyes kohled with kajal and that pink lipstick on her luscious lips distracted him. His gaze moved from her face and he saw that she had worn the golden bangles and the earrings too. He wanted to run to her and wrap her in his arms, but he controlled.

Mr Iyer cleared his throat beside Sameer which broke his beautiful trance and he looked away instantly. The intense eye lock between the couple wasn't missed by the people around them as they too could feel the sparks of chemistry between them running hot today.

Before Sameer could take the mike from Mr Iyer, the kids started shouting Sameer's name and pleaded him to sing a song for them. Along with the kids, even the other people requested him to start the function with his song. Sameer couldn't deny everyone's requests, especially of the kids and he agreed.

Looking at his beautiful and lovely wife, he began singing,

Haan hasi bann gaye...
Haan nami bann gaye...
Tum mere aasmaan...
Meri zameen bann gaye...

Haan hasi bann gaye...
Haan nami bann gaye...
Tum mere aasmaan...
Meri zameen bann gaye...

Haan hum badalne lage...
Girne sambhalne lage...
Jab se hai jaana tumhe...
Teri ore chalne lage...
Har safar, har jagah...
Har kahin ban gaye...

Maante the Khuda...
Aur haan wahi ban gaye...
Haan hansi bann gaye...
Haan nami bann gaye...
Tum mere aasmaan...
Meri zameen bann gaye...

Pehchaante hi nahi...
Ab log tanha mujhe...
Meri nigaahon mein bhi...
Hai dhoondte woh tujhe...
Hum the dhoondhte jisse...
Woh kami bann gaye...
Tum mere ishq ki...
Sar-zameen bann gaye...
Haan hasi bann gaye...
Haan nami ban gaye...
Tum mere aasmaan...
Meri zameen bann gaye...

As he finished, the entire hall resonated with continuous loud applauds and 'once more' requests. But the function had to be taken forward and he didn't want to waste any more time and took over the responsibility of hosting the function. One after the other performances took place which entertained everyone present in the hall. From dance performances to singing to playing musical instruments on the stage continued with full zeal.

It was now time for the final act which was prepared by few kids under the guidance of Preeti, Pandit and Sameer. They hugged the kids and wished them all the best for their performance. As the lights dimmed and the spotlights were turned on, Naina's heart thudded. She didn't know the reason for anxiousness which had appeared from nowhere suddenly. Till now, she had enjoyed all the performances and sneaked glances of her handsome husband more than usual. And now all of a sudden, she seemed nervous. She couldn't see him now which further added to her anxiety.

When the drama started, Naina settled down her nerves and concentrated on the kids who were dressed like Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati. And as the drama began, she forgot all her nervousness and was lost in the wonderful performance. The drama was about how Goddess Parvati married Lord Shiva.

The drama stared with King Himavat and Queen Mena holding their daughter who was named Parvati. Narad Muni came to look at the baby and declared that she was destined to marry Lord Shiva. While growing up, she loses herself in thinking about Lord Shiva all the time.

Even as a young girl Parvati was in love with Lord Shiva. As she grew older, Parvati blossomed into a stunning woman filled with grace and beauty. While she captured the hearts of many kings and princes, she only had eyes for Lord Shiva. She did many efforts to win his love and affection and decided to visit the cave where he was meditating and started cleaning and decorating it. However, he remained unmoved by her love and dedication. She also tried bringing fruits for him but he remained steadfast in his meditation. Not once did he open his eyes or acknowledged the presence of Goddess Parvati.

Meanwhile, the gods and people were being terrorised by the demon, Taraka. When they approached Lord Brahma for help, he said that Lord Shiva and Parvati's son will kill the demon. As the gods were getting restless, they decided to help Goddess Parvati win Lord Shiva's affection.

The Goddesses of Love and Longing, Priti and Rati the consorts of Kama, the God of love and passion turned the cave that Shiva meditated in, into a garden of pleasure, filled with flowers, trees, birds and bees. Once the cave was packed with enchantments and wonders, they called upon Lord Kama. Upon his arrival Kama wasted no time in shooting Shiva with the arrow of desire. The arrow had no effect on Shiva, he was however intensely angered at being disturbed. Enraged, Lord Shiva opened his third eye and reduced Kama to ashes. With the destruction of Kama, Parvati lamented to the others Gods that love has been lost to the world. She reassured them however that when Lord Shiva accepts Goddess Parvati as his wife, Kama will be reborn.

Goddess Parvati had tried everything in her power to make Lord Shiva notice her, but nothing worked. Finally, she decided to do what Goddess Sati had done to win over Lord Shiva. Goddess Parvati left all the riches and comfort of her father's palace and went to live in the forest as an ascetic. In her trials, she surpassed even the greatest ascetics. What she went through was even greater than what Goddess Sati, Lord Shiva's first consort, had endured. She went through the most rigorous self-mortifications from walking in the winter snow without clothing to sitting under the hot summer sun for days, to standing on one foot motionless for long hours to eating nothing for days and surviving on the sun's nourishment.

Infact, her asceticism was so intense that it is said to have been equal to that of the great Lord Shiva. Following in his footsteps, Goddess Parvati soon had utter control over her body and her mind. Her Tapasya generated great amounts of energy and heat. This heat and energy finally reached lord Shiva who was shaken out of his meditation. When he was finally back in the world, he wondered what or who it was that had wrenched him out of his intense tapasya. He then heard the story of how Goddess Parvati in order to have him as her husband went through much rigorous self-mortification and achieved a state of asceticism almost akin to that of himself. So impressed was he by her self-sacrifice that he immediately agreed to make Goddess Parvati his consort.

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married in great pomp and celebration. The gods rejoiced to have Shiva back and married at the same time and the heavens blessed their union. After they were married, they went back to Mount Kailash and made it their abode.

As the drama ended, everyone gave a standing ovation to the kids who performed so exceptionally well that they had brought out the real characters on stage. Naina wiped the tears that had made its way from her eyes unknowingly. Sameer came back to stage and hugged the kids affectionately. Once the kids walked down the stage, Sameer spoke, "Yeh thi pyaar ki asli tapasya. Bhagwaan Shiva ki liye Mata Parvati ne kitni tapasya ki tab jaakar wohh dono ej huye aur unki shaadi hui."

Pandit and Preeti guided the rest of the guests towards the garden where the food stalls were arranged for their dinner. Once everyone left the hall, only few people remained including Sameer who was standing near the stage and Naina and Naniji who were still sitting on their seats quietly. Mr Iyer too was present when Pandit and Preeti came back.

Sameer took a few steps and stood in front of his wife. He spoke, "Ek perfect shaadi ke liye dono ko ek dusre ki kamiyon ko samajhna hota hai, unhe sambhaalna hota hai. Jaise Mata Parvati karti thi, jab Bhagwaan Shiva unke rodra roop mein hote the, tab Mata unhe shaant karti thi, unke rishtey mein santulan banaaye rakhti thi."

Naina gulped as she saw Sameer looking at her directly, "Par har kisi ka rishta Bhagwaan Shiva aur Mata Parvati jaisa nahi hota. Ab ke zamaane mein aise bhi log hote hai, jinki ankhon ke saamne sab hone ke baawajud wohh dekhna nahi chaahte, usse samajh nahi paate." Looking at Mr Iyer and Naniji, he continued, "Main aaj aap dono ko ek kahaani sunaata hun jisme ek hero hai aur ek heroine. Dono ke Nanaji ka vaada poora karne ke liye hero aur heroine ko shaadi karne ko bola jaata hai. Iske baad hero heroine ko laalchi aur characterless keh deta hai. Itna sab sunne ke baad heroine hero se shaadi karne se inkaar kar deti hai."

He laughed, "Kaunsi ladki itni insult sunne ke baad shaadi ke liye taiyaar hoti? Fir achaanak ek din Nanaji ki tabiyat kharaab ho jaati aur unki sehat ko dhyaan mein rakhte hue, dono shaadi ke liye maan jaate hai. Par hero shaadi se pehle hi heroine se divorce papers aur prenuptial agreements sign karwa leta hai, saath hi saath wohh khudke bhi kuch conditions rakhta hai jisse heroine usse dabi rahe. Aapko lagta hoga naa ki kaisa hero hai, ekdum ghatiya sa? Yeh toh hero kehlaane ke laayak bhi nahi hai. Par khair uska bhi koi bohot bura past tha jiski wajah se wohh heroine par bharosa nahi kar paa raha tha."

His eyes met Naina's misty ones and he continued, "Wohh heroine itni acchi thi ki usne bina kisi shart ke unn sab agreement papers par sign kar diye. Uske baad wohh dono shaadi ke bandhan mein bandh gaye. Dheere dheere hero heroine dost bane, ek dusre ke saath rehte rehte unke beech mein nazdeekiyaan badhne lagi. Hero toh wohh sab agreements bhool gaya tha aur shaayad heroine bhi. Par fir kuch aisa hua jiski wajah se waapis hero heroine ko galat samajhta hai aur usse fir se laalchi aur characterless bol deta hai."

His eyes had misted too and his voice choked as he continued further, "Hero ko pehle hi pataa chal gaya tha ki heroine usse bohot pyaar karti hai, fir bhi wohh usspar shak karta hai, usse aisi aisi baatein kehta hai jo usse nahi kehni chahiye thi. Par hero par gussa itna haavi ho gaya hota hai ki wohh apni har hadd tod deta hai. Hadd ke saath saath usne aur bhi kuch tod diya tha... aur wohh tha heroine ka saccha aur pyaar se bhara dil."

Preeti looped her arm around Naina's shoulder to keep her seated while Sameer continued, "Uske baad heroine hero ka ghar hamesha hamesha ke liye chod ke chali jaati hai, bina kisise kuch kahe, bina kisiko kuch bataaye. Jab tak hero ko apni galti samajh aati hai, tab tak bohot der ho jaati hai, kyunki hero apne ego ki wajah se heroine ko dhoondne ki koshish bhi nahi karta, aur jab sach saamne aata hai aur jab wohh usse dhoondne nikalta hai toh hero ko heroine kahin nahi milti. Aur jab ek mahine baad milti hai, tab wohh firse toot jaata hai. Hero ki galtiyon ki wajah se heroine ko ek aisi zindagi jeeni pad rahi hai, jahaan uske paas uska koi apna nahi hai, akeli pad gayi hai wohh. Jis chehre ko hamesha muskuraate hue dekha tha hero ne, wohh ab kabhi nahi muskuraati, shaayad unn sab ilzaamon ke bojh se heroine muskuraana hi bhool gayi, apni life jeena hi bhool gayi hai."

Naniji wiped Naina's tears silently. "Hero usse manaane ki poori koshish karta hai, par ab bhi shayaad heroine usse maaf nahi kar paayi hai. Aap dono soch rahe honge ki main yeh kahaani aapko kyun sunaa raha hun. Abhi jo humne drama dekha wohh Bhagwaan Shiva aur Mata Parvati ki shaadi par tha, jinhe hum Ardhnarishwar ke naam se bhi jaante hai. Yeh unn dino ki sacchi prem kahaani hai aur main aap sabko aaj ke dinon ki kahaani sunaa raha hun, jo meri aur Naina ki kahaani hai."

Wiping his tears, he continued, "Naina ke saath ek saal rehne ke baad bhi maine usse bohot galat samjha, sabke kehne ke bawajood maine usspar bharosa nahi kiya. Par kya sirf meri hi galti thi? Bolo Naina... agar aaj bhi tum mujhse se kuch bol nahi paayi toh main samjhunga ki tumne ab tak mujhe maaf nahi kiya. Main jaanta hun ki meri galtiyaan maaf karne laayak nahi hai. Maine... maine... naa sirf tumhe apne shabdon se hurt kiya hai, maine toh tumhe physically bhi hurt kiya hai, jis ke liye main sach mein bohot bohot sharminda hun. Married hona yeh reason nahi hai ki main kisi bhi cheez ke liye tumpar force karun. I am really sorry Naina. Mujhe... mujhe tumhare saath zabardasti karne ka koi hakk hi nahi tha."

Sitting on his knees, he continued, "Naina... main jaanta hun maine tumhare saath bohot galat kiya hai, ek baar nahi baar baar tumhe galat samjha hai, tumhare saath galat behave kiya hai. Par kya tum ek aakhri baar mujhe maaf nahi kar sakti? Main... main promise karta hun ki tumhe aage kabhi koi shikayat ka mauka nahi dunga. Main kabhi tum par shak nahi karunga, hamesha tum par trust karunga. Tum... tum mujhe ek aakhri mauka de do Naina... please... main tumhe hamesha khush rakhunga."

When Naina didn't reply, he was heartbroken. He couldn't read her expressions as she had kept her face totally blank and emotionless. Sameer closed his eyes and exhaled, "Thik hai Naina... mujhe... mujhe tumhara jawaab mil gaya. Tumne... tumne ab bhi mujhe maaf nahi kiya hai. Aaj tumhari chuppi ne saabit kar diya ki tum mujhe koi mauka nahi dogi, aur naa hi apni zindagi mein jagah dogi. I am sorry Naina for everything, for all the hurt and pain you went through because of me."

Sameer looked at all his people around him and then finally met Naina's gaze, "Toh... toh aaj se main tumhe pareshaan nahi karunga. Main... main Ahmedabad waapis jaa raha hun. Tum ab se meri shakal nahi dekhogi Naina. Main kabhi tumhare saamne nahi aaunga. Main... main jaa raha hun. Tum... tum hamesha khush rehna. Aur main... main Ahmedabad pohonchte hi wohh divorce papers sign kar dunga. Main samajh gaya hun ki tum mujhse kisi bhi tarah ke relationship mein nahi rehna chaahti. Main... main tumhe iss shaadi se hamesha hamesha ke liye aazaad karta hun Naina... You are free now, free to do whatever you want to do with your life. Main... main jaa raha hun."

Sameer took a step towards her and stopped. His eyes roamed over her face for few extra seconds. His hands moved to wipe her tears but stopped midway sensing her flinch. He turned around hastily without giving her a backward glance and left towards the exit. Naina felt as if someone had snatched away all the breath out of her lungs. She wanted to shout and stop him, but no voice came out. She stood motionless for a minute or so and then, she felt someone jolting her out of her daze.

Preeti screamed, "Naina... yeh kya kiya tune? Sameer... Sameer ko aise hi jaane diya? Ab tu khush hogi naa ki Sameer finally yahaan se, teri life se hamesha hamesha ke liye chala gaya? Yahi sochkar tu yahaan Shimla mein aayi thi naa? Tera Sameer par gussa hona jaayaaz hai Naina, par main maanti hun ki galti tum dono se hui thi. Jaise humne abhi Bhagwaan Shiva aur Mata Parvati ki kahaan dekhi, usse hum yeh toh samajh gaye ki pyaar ke liye bohot tapasya karni padti hai. Sirf pyaar karna nahi, apne life partner par atoot bharosa, aur sabse important uss rishtey mein sacchai honi chahiye. Koi bhi baat chupaani nahi chahiye. Husband aur wife ko decide karna hota hai ki wohh kise priority de. Dosti aur shaadi mein se kisse priority deni chahiye, yeh tum dono ka decision hai. Sabke dost hote hai Naina, par uss dosti ki wajah se apne pyaar mein, apne rishtey mein misunderstandings nahi honi chahiye. Ek pati patni ka rishta paani ki tarah saaf hona chahiye, jahaan koi jhooth, koi raaz nahi hone chahiye. Agar tumhe lagta hai ki bharosa hona hi sab kuch hai toh wohh naa toh poora sach hai aur naa hi poora jhooth. Uss vishwas ke saath saath sachaayi honi chahiye. Pati patni ka rishta sabse upar hota hai Naina kyunki unn dono ko poori zindagi ek saath milkar guzaarni hoti hai, uss rishtey ko zindagi bhar nibhaana hota hai. Pyaar, bharosa, apnapan, commitment, ek dusre ki taraf responsibilities, inn sabse shaadishuda zindagi aasaan aur successful hoti hai. Kisi ek ki bhi kami ho jaaye, toh saara balance kharaab ho jaata hai aur inn mein se kuch jyaada bhi ho jaaye toh bhi balance bigdata hai."

Looking straight at Naina, Preeti said, "Agar patni ummeed karti hai ki uska pati usspar poora bharosa kare toh usse bhi badle mein poori sacchai deni chahiye. Koi secrets nahi hone chahiye unke beech. They are one and they need to treat each other equally. Agar married life mein problems hote hai toh iski responsibility dono ki hoti hai, taali ek haath se nahi bajti Naina. Agar ek galti karta hai, toh dusre ko sambhaal lena chahiye, uska solution dhoodna chahiye, naaki poora ka poora blame usspar daal dena chahiye."

Preeti wiped her face and held her best friend's shoulders. "Tujhe kya lagta hai ki sab galti sirf Sameer ki hi thi? Tune... tune kuch galat nahi kiya? Arey sabse badi galti teri hi hai Naina. Tune... tune Sameer se jhooth bola, tune Sameer se baatein chupaayi. Arey teri sui bharose par hi atki hui hai Naina, jab ki tu khud apne shaadishuda rishtey mein bharosa aur sacchai nahi rakh paayi. Bhale meri shaadi nahi hui hai Naina, par main itna toh jaanti hun ki pati-patni do dil ek jaan hote hai. Tune... tune ek stupid se promise ke liye, ussi jaan se jhooth bola, secrets rakkhe. Main... main khud ab tak Bhai se naaraaz hun, jiski wajah se tu aur Sameer alag huye. Agar Bhai aur Nisha ke baare mein tu Sameer ko bataa deti toh kya ho jaata? Huh? Bol Naina? Kya Sameer unn dono ke beech mein aanewaala tha yaa wohh Nisha par line marnewala tha? Bol Naina? Bhai ke promise ke liye tune apne pyaar se, Sameer se baatein chupaayi aur jhooth bhi bole. Wohh bhi insaan hai yaar... end tak usne tujhpar bharosa kiya tha naa?"

"Main... main teri dost hun, isiliye maine Sameer ko kya kya nahi sunaaya taaki usse uski galtiyaan samajh aaye. Tu jaanti hai Naina, yahaan aane se pehle hi usne mujhe... mujhe bataa diya tha ki usne uss raat tere saath kya karne ki koshish ki thi. Mujhe... mujhe tab usspar bohot gussa aaya tha, par fir usne mujhse kahaa ki wohh uske har gunaah ke liye tujhse maafi maangega aur tujhe waapis Ahmedabad ke aayega. Jo sacchai uski aankhon mein dekhi uss din, tab samajh gayi ki Sameer se jyaada pyaar tujhse aur koi nahi kar sakta. Usne mujhe promise kiya tha ki wohh tujhe tab tak haath nahi laagayega jab tak tu usse poore dil se maaf naa kar de. Roz raat mujhe call karke rota tha, tumhara dard usse bhi tod raha tha Naina. Jitna dukh aur dard tujhe mila hai naa, usse jyada usse mila hai."

"Tu yahaan akeli thi naa? Wohh bhi akela hi tha wahaan. Nanaji, Munna, Pandit, koi uske saath nahi tha, kisine uski help nahi ki. Jab usse sab sacchai pataa chali, tab jaakar sabne usse baat ki. Aur ek baat sunn, bhale hi sab usse baat karte hai, par kisine usko maaf nahi kiya hai. Kyunki sabko sirf teri padi hai, tera dard, tera dukh, tera akelapan. Arey koi uss bechare ka bhi socho, jo khud bhi yahi sabse guzar raha hai. Teri dost hun, fir bhi uski side le rahi kyunki uske saath saath teri bhi galti hai Naina aur tu isse jhoothla nahi sakti."

"Tu bataa Naina... jo tune kiya agar wohi Sameer karta toh? Soch agar main usse promise leti aur kehti ki yeh baat Naina ko mat bataana aur wohh tujhse baatein chupaata, tujhse jhooth bolta, toh tu kya karti? Kya bharosa karti Sameer par? Agar tu usse kisi aur ladki ko I Love You kehte sunti, toh tujhe kaisa feel hota? Tab bhi tu Sameer par bharosa kar paati? Ek baar tu uski jagah khud ko rakhkar dekh Naina, tujhe samajh aayega ki usse bhi tujhse jyada taklif hui hai, usse kitna hurt hua hoga tab jab wohh khud tujhse itna pyaar karta hai."

"Shreya... yaad hai naa tujhe? Wohh toh sirf Sameer ke aas paas ghoomti thi aur tujhe kitni jalan hoti thi usse. Toh soch jab Sameer ne tere mooh se wohh I Love You Kabir ke liye sunaa hoga toh usse kaisa feel hua hoga? Kal raat hi keh rahi thi naa ki kuch bojh sa hai dil par, yahi bojh hai wohh Naina, jo tu dekhna nahi chaahti, samajhna nahi chaahti. Be strong enough to accept your mistake too, Naina."

"Maanti hun Sameer ne bohot baar tere saath galat kiya, par sabse jyaada pyaar bhi wohi karta hai tujhse. Tujhe hamesha se darr tha naa ki Sameer kabhi tujhse pyaar bhi karega yaa nahi? Tujhe yahi shikayat thi naa ki Sameer kabhi teri feelings samjhega yaa nahi? Aaj wohi darr aur wohi shikaayat Sameer ki bhi hai. Teri aankhon mein khudke liye pyaar dekh sakta hai wohh, par darta hai ki kahin tu usse kabhi ab keh bhi paauogi yaa nahi. Teri feelings samajhta hai isliye aaj teri chuppi ko hi apna jawaab maankar waapis Ahmedabad jaa raha hai. Agar tu Sameer se thoda bhi pyaar karti hai naa, toh jaa rok le usse. Aisa pyaar karnewala tujhe kabhi nahi milega Naina. Dost toh bohot mil jaayenge tujhe, par aisa jeevan saathi tujhe kabhi nahi milega, jisne har kadam sirf aur sirf tere baare mein socha ho."

Naina fell on her knees and cried. Naniji sat down next to her and held her protectively, "Naina... bhale hi tumne mujhe kuch naa bataaya ho, par Sameer ne pehle din aakar hi mujhe sab sach bataa diyaa tha. Mujhe bhi usspar bohot gussa aaya tha par uski aankhon mein tumhare liye pyaar aur parvaah dekhkar maine usse help karna shuru kiya. Sameer ne pehle jo bhi kiya ho Naina, tum usse unn sab galtiyon ke liye maaf kar sakti ho naa? Yaa yun kahun ki tumne Sameer ko kabka maaf kar diya hai. Jo bhi hua usse peeche chodkar, apni aage ki zindagi ka socho Naina. Tum bhi Sameer se bohot pyaar karti ho, aur wohh bhi. Agar poorani baaton ko bhoolkar aage nahi badhogi Naina, toh kabhi khush nahi reh paaogi. Tum yahaan akele rehkar adhuri rahogi, aur wohh wahaan Ahmedabad mein akela rehkar adhura rahega. Jab tum dono ek dusre se pyaar karte ho, toh fir sab poorani baatein bhoolkar aage ki zindagi ko khushi se saath jeene ke baare mein socho. Aaj Sameer ko yahaan se jaane mat dena Naina, warna aage pachtaaogi jab apni galti samajh aayegi."

Naina wiped her tears and everything that had happened since that night resurfaced in her mind. She remembered all the things that Sameer had done for her good. She thought about everything that Preeti told her, Naniji's words echoed in her mind and she got up instantly, "Mujhe... mujhe Sameer ko rokna hai... main... main unhe aise nahi jaane de sakti." Turning to Preeti, she continued, "Tune sab sach kahaa Preeti... maine... maine bhi bohot badi galti ki hai. Mujhe Sameer ko Ahmedabad jaane se rokna hoga. Maine unhe nahi jaane de sakti ab. Bohot mushkil se mujhe mera pyaar mila hai waapis, main... main unhe nahi kho sakti fir se."

Turning to Pandit, she asked, "Sameer... Sameer kahaan gaye hai abhi?" Everyone smiled at her and she heard her best friend's voice next, "Wahin jahaan koi aata jaata nahi...." Naina looked at her in confusion and Preeti hit her head with her palm, "Buddhu... jaa ghar jaa... Sameer shaayad packing kar raha hoga." As Naina turned to leave, Preeti caught hold of her and whispered, "Acche se maafi maang lena... hum aaj tum dono ko disturb nahi karenge."

Naina turned away all flustered and ran from the NGO to her husband, her love, her life...

As soon as she opened the gates to the house, she ran through the stairs and reached the room which Sameer had occupied. She stood frozen at the door as she saw the scene in front of her eyes. He was standing near the bed and was arranging all his clothes in the suitcase. Her eyes misted again as she saw his slumped shoulder's. He looked defeated and lost.

As if he had sensed her presence, he paused his packing, but didn't turn to face her. Naina walked towards him slowly as if deciding what to say and stop him. Sameer continued his packing and ignored her completely which pained her. Unable to say anything, Naina caught his hand that was holding on to the sweater which was woven by her.

Sameer closed his eyes and a lone tear ran down his cheek. Naina wiped that tear and called him softly, "Sameer... Aap... aap... sach mein yahaan se jaa rahe hai?" He opened his eyes and watched her tearstained face. His voice choked, "Haaannnn... Sach mein jaa raha hun." She asked again, "Aap... aap mujhe fir se akela chodkar jaayenge?"

Sameer froze as he heard her question. Before he could form some reply, Naina continued, "Fir se aapne mere baare mein nahi socha naa? Fir se mujhe akela chod denge naa aap? Aap... aap aisa kaise kar sakte hai mere saath? Boliye... jawaab dijiye..." Again, before he could say anything, she spoke, "Chup... ekdum chup... Kuch mat boliyega. Aapke liye toh main bas naam ki hi biwi hun naa? Jab chaha tab saath rehne aa jaate hai, jab chaahe tab mujhe akela chod dete hai. Socha hai mujhpar kya beet-ti hai? Aap jaante hai naa ki main aapse pyaar karti hun, padh sakte hai naa meri aankhen, samajhte hai naa mere dil ko, fir kyun jaa rahe hain mujhe chodkar? Mujhse pyaar karte hai naa aap? Toh... toh bas yahi tha aapka pyaar, yahin tak saath dene aaye the?"

"Jab aaye the tab kya kahaa tha aapne? Jab tak tum mujhe maaf nahi karogi, main yahaan se kahin nahi jaaunga. Toh fir itni jaldi haar maan li aapne? Maine aapko jawaab nahi diya toh bas chal diye Ahmedabad. Bas aise hi, bina mujhse pooche? Bas suna diya farmaan, main jaa raha hun Ahmedabad.", she said mimicking his actions.

Sameer tried to control his smile but failed to do so. Naina saw his eyes glinting and gave up. She pulled his hand and wrapped her in his warm embrace. Sameer inhaled her rosy fragrance and held her tightly after such a long time. She melted in his arms and inhaled his musky fragrance which she had missed terribly.

Sameer spoke softly, "Main akele nahi jaa raha tha Ahmedabad. Agar acche se nazar ghoomaati toh dekhti ki maine tumhare kapde bhi pack kar diye hai. Main tumhe liye bina kahin nahi jaanewalaa tha Mrs Naina Sameer Maheshwari." She pushed him away and asked, "Toh wohh sab... wohh sab naatak kar rahe the aap?"

He held her hands and kissed them softly, "Main tumse bohot pyaar karta hun Naina, aur tumhare bina nahi reh sakta. Tumse durr rehna ka toh main sapne mein bhi nahi soch sakta hun." He rubbed his neck nervously and continued, "Wohhh... main bas tumse ab durr nahi rehna chaahta tha aur maine tumhari aankhon mein mere liye pyaar bhi dekha, ab se nahi pehle se dekha hai. Bas tab samajh nahi aaya tha, par ab samajhta hun. Tumne mujhe maaf kar diya tha, yeh bhi main jaanta tha, par tum wohh keh nahi paa rahi thi. Isliye... isliye Preeti aur Pandit ki madad se yeh chota sa naatak kiya."

Sameer pulled her in his arms again and spoke, "I am sorry Naina... main sach mein meri sab galtiyon ke liye tumse maafi maangta hun aur promise karta hun ki kabhi tumhe kisi bhi cheez ke liye shikaayat ka mauka nahi dunga. Hamesha khush rakhunga tumhe, tumhari saari wishes poori karunga. Naina... I Love You and I want to spend all my lifetimes with you. Bas kabhi mujhe waapis chodkar mat jaana Naina. Main... main mar jaaunga..."

Naina immediately kept her palm over his mouth and shouted, "Aap kya kuch bhi bol rahe hai? Mare aapke dushman. Yeh marne varne ki baatein aayinda se mere saamne kabhi mat kijiyega Sameer. Aur aapko baar baar sorry bolne ki zarurat nahi hai. Maine... maine toh aapko kab ka maaf kar diya hai Sameer. Aap jab se yahaan rehne lage the, jis tarah meri madad kar rahe the, tab se hi dheere dheere maine aapko maaf kar diya tha, bas bol nahi paa rahi thi."

Sameer kissed her forehead and replied huskily, "Jaanta hun Naina... sab jaanta hun." Naina pushed him away again and he lost his balance. He fell on the bed and she shouted yet again, "Aap sab jaante the, toh aapne kyun mujhse nahi poocha? Itna sab naatak karne ki kya zarurat thi? Seedhe seedhe nahi pooch sakte the?"

Sameer saw his wife getting into her Naina devi mode and he got up instantly to calm his tigress for now before she could push him again. He defended himself, "Accha... toh main seedhe seedhe poochta toh tum seedhe seedhe mujhe keh deti ki tumne mujhe maaf kar diya hai? Bolo Naina... kya tum mujhe seedha seedha jawaab de paati?"

Naina scrunched her nose and looked at him, "Aap naa... aap naa... Jaiye mujhe aapse koi baat hi nahi karni." She turned away from him as she knew what he said about her was hundred percent right. She wouldn't have replied and accepted his apology if he had asked directly. Sameer knew this too, so he asked again, "Arey... ab chup kyun ho gayi? Bolo... Bolo naa? Kya tum mujhse keh paati ki tumne mujhe maaf kar diya?"

Unable to stop his questioning, she turned instantly and wrapped his hand around his neck. Without giving him any time to think, she stood on her toes and placed her lips on his to silence him. Sameer shuddered with that sudden feel of her lips and allowed her to kiss him sweetly. After few seconds, he lost the battle with himself and claimed her mouth passionately making her shiver in his arms.

When they came up for her, Sameer leaned on her shoulder and kept peppering kisses on her shoulder and neck. As he reached her earlobe, he whispered huskily, "Mujhe tumhara yeh tareeka accha lagaa mujhe chup karwaane ka. Aage bhi aise hi chup karwaate rehna mujhe, kyunki main tumse aise hi sawaal karta rahunga... zindagi bhar..."

How was the update???

Much more Samaina conversation and romance to come up in the last chapter...

I apologise if I have hurt anyone's feelings with my words or in any other way. I have used the story of Lord Shiva's and Goddess Parvati's wedding from google. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's sentiments when it comes to all this. There were many stories about how they got married and I've used the one which I have heard most of the times. I am sorry again...

I don't know why I am feeling sad all of a sudden as I finished writing this chapter...

One more chapter to go and this story will come to an end...

This story has been very close to my heart and is the longest story that I've written so far...

I am terribly going to miss this story...

Thank you each and everyone for voting, commenting and showering love on this story...

Will post the last chapter soon...

Please ignore the mistakes as I haven't proofread it before posting...

With Lots and Lots of Love,

Daksha...❤️
