FATE TWISTED BY LOVE

CHAPTER 48

Sameer tightened his hold on his wife, inhaling her fragrance. At that moment, he forgot all about Kabir & her presence in the jewellery shop. All he could feel was her soft body pressed to his hard muscled one. He had hugged Naina several times before but today this feeling was different. He pulled her closer & whispered, "I missed you so much Naina..."

Hearing his hoarse whisper, Naina shivered & replied in the same shaky voice, "I missed you too Sameer... bohot bohot miss kiya hai maine aapko." She could clearly hear his frantic heartbeats as she rubbed her cheek on his bare chest. Sameer didn't mind it though as he had been craving for her...

Naina tried to wriggle out of his hold realizing his bare condition, but Sameer wasn't ready to leave her yet. He was enjoying this too much. Loosening her hold on him, she slowly moved her hands from his shoulder & locked them behind his neck. Tiptoeing a little, she placed her lips on his.

Sameer wasn't much shocked or surprised as he had known his wife for the last few months, she would act shy at one moment & bold at the next. One month longing was too much to bear for the couple. Sameer allowed Naina to lead the kiss for few more moments. But as her fingers started playing with his hair, he lost all the control & took over the kiss, deepening it further. He kissed her passionately taking away her breath.

Naina shuddered as she felt his hands moving from her waist to her hips. He pulled her lower body to his, making her realize what she was doing with her tempting actions. She felt him grow hard for her in need. She wasn't as naïve as he had assumed her to be. She understood his condition & broke the kiss to come up for air.

Sameer though continued the trail of kisses towards her cheek & jaw while she turned a little to give him more access to her neck & shoulder. She remembered that he had asked for more & she was giving him the same. In a flash, Sameer threw her dupatta away & continued kissing her neck & shoulder. The longing & yearning that he felt for her from the past one month came to the forefront & he was losing his senses.

As he kissed her earlobe, he whispered, "I've missed this so much. I've missed you so much Maina..." Naina tightened her hold on him as she heard his words, especially the endearment. Did he just call her Maina??? Had she heard it right?

She stammered, "Ma... Maina..." Sameer shivered himself as he realized what he had just called her aloud. In the heat of the moment, he had called her exactly what he had intended to do at the right time. Kissing her forehead, he called again, "Maina... Meri Naina..."

Naina froze at his words. Did he call her 'Meri Naina'? She met his shining gaze with her misty ones & Sameer again called her his Maina... She smiled amidst her tears & ran her hands on his bare chest, making him shudder once again. He pulled her again & her nails dug into his chest's flesh.

Naina wanted to scream in happiness as he had finally called her, his Naina... his Maina... She wanted to scream & confess her feelings at that moment then & there, but she held back. She wanted him to speak first, she wanted him to confess first. Her rational brain stopped her from making the first move & she knew that was for the best.

Naina had waited for a long time for this. After staying married to him from past eleven months, finally Sameer had called her his Naina. She was sure that within this last month, he would realize his feelings for her too & would confess soon.

Unknown to the fact that Sameer has already realized his love for her, she wanted him to love her as she did, deep from her heart. Naina wasn't aware that he had already realized his feelings, his love for her. If only she knew, she wouldn't have waited to confess her love for sure.

She slowly parted away from him, taking control over her thoughts. Sameer kept looking at her messy state. His eyes slowly moved from her red crimson cheeks to her pink swollen lips. His eyes further lowered to find the deep V-shaped neckline which was different from the rest of her dresses.

All the while, Naina kept gazing at him with all the unconditional love she had in her heart for him. Her fingers itched to brush his wet hair away from his forehead & he itched to have her in his arms again.

They stood facing each other & were lost in their own sweet world. Sameer couldn't resist her anymore & pulled her in his arms again. Without wasting a second, he brushed his lips with hers slowly & nibbled on her lower lip. Naina wrapped her hands around his neck again & closed the gap between them.

Sameer's hands moved on her back & slowly he started to unzip her dress. Naina stiffened for just a moment & then relaxed as he diverted her attention by trailing kisses on her jaw & neck. He whispered sweet nothings all the while, while Naina was lost in the sensual sensations that her husband was creating in her body.

The sudden knock on the door broke their love bubble & they stood immobile for a while. As the knock was loud the second time, Naina instantly moved away & entered the washroom in a rush while Sameer walked towards the door to give his peace of mind to the intruder.

Before Sameer could say anything, he froze seeing his grandfather at the door. No words came out of his mouth & he stood like a statue. Nanu spoke, "Tu abhi tak fresh nahi hua, jaa kapde pehen le aur jaldi neeche aa jaana, dinner ready hai..." Nanu watched his grandson's frozen state & controlled his chuckle. As he turned to leave, Nanu spoke again, "Naina ko bhi saath le aana aur jaldi aana..." Nanu emphasised more on the 'jaldi aana' part which made Sameer bite his lower lip.

Sameer was in no mood to go downstairs so soon, but now after his grandfather had come to call them himself, he had no other option left. He turned towards the closed washroom door & sighed. He would've to wait to have his lovely wife back in his arms again. He walked towards his cupboard & got dressed in a red t-shirt & grey track pants. He sat on the couch & waited for his wife to appear.

Naina stood behind the closed washroom door with closed eyes. Finally, her better half was back home. The Almighty had heard her wish of bringing him back soon & here he was in front of her, waiting for her in their room. She calmed her raging heartbeats & started taking deep breaths.

What would've happened if there was no knock on the door? She knew that she would've definitely given in to his & her desires. She slowly walked towards the mirror & saw her reflection. She looked messed up. Her hair was all over her face, her skin had turned red due to his stubble & her lips... Ohhh God... they were too much swollen... How would she go downstairs with that & face Nanaji & Ramdhari Bhaiya? Forget about them, how would she face her husband who was waiting for her outside?

It was more than ten minutes but there was no trace of Naina. Sameer stood in front of the washroom & knocked twice on the door, "Naina... chalo... baahar aao... Nanu hume dinner ke liye bulaane aaye the." She heard his soft voice & replied, "Aap... aap neeche jaaiye. Main... main... thodi der mein aati hun."

Sameer heard her quivering voice & asked, "Naina... tum... tum thik ho???" When she replied affirmatively, he continued, "Naina... tum pehle baahar aao. Main tumhare bina neeche nahi jaaunga."

He knocked again & asked her to come out in a stern voice. "Dekho... tum jaldi baahar aao warna main... main darwaaza tod dunga." Naina shivered hearing his stubborn tone. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door & faced him.

Sameer stared at her dishevelled state & asked again, "Kya hua? Baahar kyun nahi aa rahi thi tum? Kabse aawaaz de raha hun main." She walked towards the dressing table & picked up the comb. He controlled himself from pulling her in his arms again.

Sameer watched her actions silently. After tying her hair in a braid, she met his gaze in the reflection of the mirror. He just raised his eyebrows in question & she bit her lower lip which distracted her loving husband.

Sameerwalked towards her & held her shoulder to turn her, "Kya hua Naina??? Tum... tum itni chup kyun ho gayi?" Hooking his finger under her chin, he made her look at him. "Bolo naa Naina. Kya hua hai? Pehle toh sab thik tha, toh ab achaanak aisa kya ho gaya ki tum ekdum shaant ho gayi? Mera yeh surprise accha nahi lagaa kya?"

Her lips wobbled & she finally spoke up, "Wohhh... wohhh... aisi koi baat nahi hai Sameer... main toh bohot khush hun aapke iss surprise se. wohhh bas... wohhh... mere lips itne suj gaye hai ki main aise Nanaji aur Ramdhari Bhaiya ke saamne nahi jaa sakti."

Sameer stared at her unblinkingly for a few moments & then burst into peals of laughter. Naina scrunched her nose & glared at him. Keeping her hands on her hips, she said, "Aapko... aapko hasi aa rahi hai??? Yeh nahi ki mujhe koi solution de. Hass rahe hai janaab?"

Controlling his laughter, he pulled her in his arms. Rubbing her waist slowly, he teased, "Mujhse naaraaz hone ki zarurat nahi hai Naina. Maine kuch nahi kiya tha... Waise... kiss toh pehle tumne hi kiya tha. Hai na??? Toh usme meri kya galti hai? Jo bhi hua, wohh tumne hi shuru kiya tha, maine toh bas usse sahi dhang se khatam karna chaaha tha." Naina pressed her face in his chest some more & hid herself.

Sameer chuckled & watched her reflection in the mirror. He gasped & she realized what had happened. Before she could turn, he tightened his hold & whispered, "Main... main band karta hun. Jab khola maine tha, toh band bhi mujhe hi karna chahiye naa???"

Naina bit her lower lip again while he slowly pulled the zip of her dress. She shivered again as she felt his hands moving over her back possessively. Sameer kept his gaze fixed on her reflection which exposed her fair skin for him to see. His control was about to snap as he saw the strap on her red bra making its small appearance.

Once done, he whispered, "Ho gaya... aur jahaan tak solution ka sawaal hai... wohh bhi hai mere paas..." Naina looked at him & he continued, "Waise koi problem nahi hai tumhara yun neeche jaana, par khair, agar tum neeche nahi jaana chaahti toh wohi sahi. Tum yahin ruko, main hamare liye khaana upar hi le aata hun."

Naina instantly denied, "Nahi... aap aisa kuch nahi karenge. Nanaji kya sochenge mere baare mein ki ab tak toh ekdum thikthaak thi, fir achaanak kya ho gaya ki main neeche dinner ke liye nahi jaa sakti."

Cupping her face, he spoke, "Kuch nahi sochenge. Unhe kya bolna hai, yeh mujhpar chod do. Tum... tum yahaan bed par shaanti se baitho, main bas thodi der mein khaana lekar aata hun." Before Naina could protest further, he left the room. She touched her swollen lips again & blushed remembering their passionate moments.

Sameer entered their room after few minutes, holding a tray which consisted only a single plate. He locked the door behind him & walked towards the couch where his lovely wife was sitting. He had noticed the red tinge on her face that still hadn't left her face since his arrival.

Naina scrunched her eyebrows looking at the single plate of food & asked, "Sirf ek hi plate laaye aap? Aapne neeche hi khaana khaa liya kya???" Placing the tray on the table, he sat next to her & pulled her in a side hug. He whispered, "Mrs Naina Sameer Maheshwari... main aapke bina akele khaana kaise khaa sakta hun?"

Before she could ask more, he left her & took the plate in his hand. Breaking a piece of chapaati, he dipped it in the palak paneer & fed her the first morsel, "Kaisa lagaa?" Her eyes brimmed with tears again & she murmured, "Bohot accha..." She too fed him & they continued feeding each other till the plate was clean.

"Main abhi yeh rakhkar aata hun." Naina looked at him with misty eyes & thought to herself, "Sameer itne badle badle kyun lag rahe hai? Inhe dekhkar aisa kyun lag raha hai jaise... jaise yeh bhi mujhse pyaar karne lage hai? Nahi... nahi... aisa nahi ho sakta. Sameer mujhse pyaar nahi kar sakte."

Her heart refuted, "Kyun nahi ho sakta? Peechla ek mahina tujhse durr rehne ke baad, shaayad unhe pyaar ka ehsaas ho gaya hoga. Sameer ne kahaa toh sahi ki wohh tujhe bohot miss kar rahe the, toh shaayad unhe tabhi apne dil ki baat samajh aa gayi hogi."

While she was still lost in her thoughts, Sameer entered with a tray again which had two bowls this time. One huge bowl of icecream & the other consisted of few ice cubes. He sat beside her, keeping the tray on the table. He snapped his fingers in front of her eyes which broke her trance & she came back to reality.

"Kahaan kho gayi thi tum Naina?" He looked at her waiting for her reply while she looked at the tray placed in front of her. She asked, "Yeh icecream toh samajh aaya, par yeh baraf kyun laaye hai aap?" He bit his lower lip & stared at her for a moment. "Wohh... wohh... main ice cubes tumhare liye laaya hun."

She looked at him in confusion, "Mere liye baraf kyun laaye aap? Mujhe... mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha Sameer. Aap... aap thik se bataaiye... ek minute... aapne... aapne neeche Nanaji ko kya kahaa ki main... main neeche kyun nahi gayi?"

Raising his imaginary collar, Sameer replied, "Maine bas itna hi kahaa ki tum neeche jaane ki jaldi jaldi mein gir gayi aur tumhare left leg mein thoda sprain ho gaya hai. Bas... maine itna hi kahaa... toh ussi ke liye Nanu ne mujhe yeh ice cubes le jaane ko kahaa aur main le aaya. Ab main manaa bhi nahi kar sakta tha naa, warna unhe shak ho jaata, hai naa???"

Naina hit her forehead, "Aapne... aapne Nanaji se jhooth bolaa??? Kyun???" Sameer raised his eyebrows at her & asked, "Toh kya karta main? Tumhe neeche bhi nahi jaana tha aur Nanu hamara dinner ke liye wait bhi kar rahe the, toh mujhe jo thik lagaa wohh maine kiya. Aur waise bhi maine jo kuch bhi kiya wohh tumhare liye kiya, tumhare comfort ke liye kiya. I know ki tum aise Nanu ke saamne neeche nahi jaana chaahti thi. Fir mere paas aur koi option nahi tha. Mujhe jhooth bolna padaa, tumhare liye. Waise mann toh bohot hua ki Nanu ko sach bataa dun, par shaayad tumhe accha nahi lagta, isliye yeh jhooth bol diya."

Naina didn't know what to say & she just hugged him in response, murmuring a sweet thanks. Sameer held her for a few minutes & teased, "Agar romance ho gaya ho toh icecream khaa le? Bechari kab se pighal rahi hai." Naina hit him lightly on his chest & left his embrace.

Looking at the icecream bowl, she asked, "Isme toh ek hi chammach hai?" Sameer just shrugged his shoulders & said, "Toh???" She kept looking in confusion while he dipped the spoon in the icecream bowl. He tasted it & made a face, "Taste accha nahi hai bilkul, ekdum fikaa lag raha hai."

She instantly took the spoon away from his hand & tasted the chocolate icecream herself. "Acchi toh hai, jaise hamesha se taste karti hai, waisi hi toh hai." Sameer held her hand & made her feed him a spoonful of her favourite icecream.

"Mmmmmmm..." He closed his eyes & savoured the flavour. Naina gaped at him, "Aap... aap na bilkul paagal ho gaye hai. Pehle khaaya toh accha nahi lagaa aur abhi tasty lag raha hai?" He leaned towards her & whispered, "Kyunki tumhari jhoothi spoon se khaane ke baad icecream jyaada tasty aur sweet ho gayi."

Naina lowered her eyes, understanding his actions & the colour rose on her cheeks yet again. Sameer loved the way his wife was turning red because of his flirting. This idea was a cliched one but yet it had the required effect on his lovely wife & he was thoroughly enjoying it. Taking away the spoon from her hand, he kept feeding her & himself in between, relishing the icecream heartily.

Naina was shocked, surprised & happy with the sudden change in his behaviour. What had gotten into him? Why was he behaving so romantic with her since he arrived home? What had led to this change so suddenly? This transformation was something that she had never anticipated. Though she wanted him to fall in love with her, she never thought about such sudden turn of events in her life on his return.

Had he really started loving her? Why was he staring at her in such a way that her insides had turned all mushy? She had wanted to see the love glistening in his eyes from way too long, but now when she could clearly see it, feel it... she was scared... scared of her destiny. What if this happiness was temporary? She shuddered with that thought.

Sameer finished the rest of the icecream while watching his wife lost in some thoughts. Keeping the empty bowl away, he picked up his wife in a bridal style & walked towards the balcony. Switching off all the lights on the way, they settled on the mattress in the balcony which had become one of their favourite places in the house.

Pulling the blanket over them, he pulled her in his arms. Naina rested her head on his chest & heard his erotic heartbeats which matched her raging ones. She was so desperately missing him & now, here he was sleeping right next to her.

They stayed in each other's embrace for a few more minutes basking in the warmth that they craved for the past one month. Closing her eyes, Naina asked, "Sameer... aap toh kal aanewale the naa? Fir aaj achaanak aap kaise aa gaye?"

Sameer teased, "Kyun? Mera aise surprise dena tumhe accha nahi lagaa Naina???" She shifted a little & met his gaze, "Aap nahi samajh sakte ki main aapko aaj yahaan dekhkar kitni khush hun Sameer. Mujhe aapka yeh surprise bohot accha lagaa, bohot bohot accha lagaa..."

Sameer wasn't satisfied listening to her reply & asked, "Kitna miss kiya mujhe Naina???" She turned scarlet again. Lowering her lashes, she whispered, "Utna hi miss kiya jitna aapne mujhe miss kiya Sameer..." He smiled hearing her reply, "Acchaa... tumhe kaise pataa ki main bhi tumhe miss kar raha tha?"

Naina blushed, "Mujhe pataa hai ki aap bhi mujhe miss karte the." Sameer asked, "Aur wohh kaise???" Meeting his gaze yet again, she replied, "Jab bhi aap raat ko call karte the tab goodnight bolte toh dete the, par call disconnect nahi karte the. Aur aap khud hi toh bolte the baar baar ki aap mujhe bohot miss kar rahe hai. Aur sach kahun toh mujhe bas pataa hai ki aapke dil mein kya chal raha hai?"

Tightening his hold on her, he asked, "Acchaa ji... toh aapko pataa hai mere dil mein abhi iss waqt kya chal raha hai???" She nodded & he continued, "Tohhh batao... mera dil abhi kya keh raha hai?" She gazed at him lovingly & could clearly see that he was tired of the long flight & travelling. She could see the dark circles around his eyes. She knew he had been busy with the deal in London & was working persistently day & night so that he could finish his work in that one month itself.

"Abhi aapko sona chahiye Sameer... bohot raat bhi ho gayi hai aur aapki shakal pe dikh raha hai ki aap kitna thak gaye hai." Sameer replied, "Yeh toh mere dil ki baat nahi hai Naina..." When she didn't say anything for a while, he asked, "Accha yeh batao, exams ki taiyaari kaisi chal rahi hai, agle hafte se shuru honewale hai na exams?"

"Haann... agle hafte se exams shuru ho jaayenge aur meri jyaadatar padhaai bhi ho chuki hai. Ab revision kar rahi hun." Sameer was happy hearing her reply, "Chalo accha hai. Ummmm... Waise tum... tum kahin baahar gayi thi kya aaj???"

Without thinking much, she replied, "Haannn... main Kabir ke saath baahar gayi thi." Though Sameer didn't want to sound jealous or angry, he kept his tone normal, "Kuch khaas kaam tha kya?"

Naina bit her lower lip & thought of a reply, but nothing came to her mind. She didn't want to lie to him about Kabir's & Nisha's relationship. The promise that she had made to Kabir rang in her mind multiple times & finally, she lied, "Nahi... kuch khaas kaam toh nahi tha, wohh hume thoda NGO ke liye saamaan chahiye tha, bas wohi lene gaye the."

Before he could ask her to elaborate, his mobile rang in the bedroom. Naina quickly got up & escaped his interrogation to get his mobile. Sameer knew where she was with Kabir as he had seen them in the jewellery shop but why was she lying to him so efficiently? He wanted to trust his heart & give her a benefit of doubt but her lie was pricking him in his heart.

Naina came back with the mobile & he answered the call. He chatted for a few minutes with Munna & Pandit, updating them about the deal in London. Naina quietly slept beside him & thought to herself, "Yeh main kya kar rahi hun? Kabir ke vaade ki wajah se mujhe Sameer se jhooth bolna pad raha hai. Mujhe kal hi Kabir se baat karni hogi, kehna hoga ki wohh jaldi se Nisha waali baat sakbo bataa de. Mujhe aise Sameer se jhooth bolna accha nahi lag raha. Main Sameer se kuch nahi chupaana chaahti. Mujhe kal hi Kabir se baat karni hogi. Haannn... yahi thik hai..."

All the while Sameer kept watching his wife as he continued to talk to his friends cum business partners. Naina knew that he wouldn't rest until he got his answers. Though she wanted to talk to him, listen to his husky voice, she closed her eyes & acted as if she was ready to sleep.

Sameer continued his talks for a few more minutes & then bid goodnight to his best friends, asking them to visit the next day. As he ended the call, he saw his wife had already drifted to sleep. Brushing her hair away from her serene face, he smiled. Though he knew that she was lying to him straight on his face, he couldn't keep the fact away that he was in love with her.

Closing his eyes, he too drifted to a peaceful slumber as finally he was in the cocoon of her warmth. After few more minutes, when Naina felt his even breath, she understood that he was already asleep. Without disturbing his slumber, she moved a little & watched his peaceful face with a smile.

She whispered quietly, "I'm sorry Sameer... mujhe na chaahte hue bhi aapse jhooth bolna pad raha hai. Main aapko sab sach bataa dungi Sameer, bas ek baar Kabir apni kasam waapis le le aur aap sabko Nisha ke baare mein bataa de." Sighing a little, she too closed her eyes & drifted to restless sleep.

Naina was the first one to wake up the next day & resumed her usual work. She didn't wake up Sameer as she knew that he was damn tired from the previous day's long flight. Pulling the blanket over his face, she carried on with her work. After freshening up, she went to the kitchen to make her husband's favourite breakfast. After all, he was going to relish the meal after a long month.

Nanu who was sitting in the living room asked her curiously eyeing her leg, "Naina... beti... tumhara pair kaisa hai ab? Agar jyaada hi dukh raha ho toh main doctor ko bulaa deta hun." Naina bit her tongue to stop herself from speaking the truth. She remembered that Sameer had lied to his grandfather last night.

Without meeting his eyes, she replied, "Main thik hun Nanaji... wohh raat ko baraf lagaayi thi naa aur sone se pehle Sameer ne maalish bhi ki thi, toh ab pair itna nahi dukh raha. Doctor ko bulaane ki zarurat nahi hai abhi, main ab ekdum thik hun Nanaji, aap fikar mat kijiye."

Nanu smiled in response & she guiltily walked towards the kitchen slowly. Ramdhari was already kneading the dough. As he saw Naina entering the kitchen, he teased, "Wohhh... bhabhi... maine socha aaj ek mahine baad Sameer bhaiya aaye toh aap aaj naashte mein aloo ke parathe hi banaayengi, isliye main aata goond raha hun."

Naina just nodded & went to boil the potatoes in the pressure cooker. Without meeting his gaze, she continued making the tea & coffee for the breakfast. After forty minutes, she asked Ramdhari to arrange the meal on the dining table.

Nanu was still sitting in the living room, so she slowly tiptoed to her room to wake her husband up. When she entered, she saw Sameer was already up & was working out in the balcony. She walked to him & stopped to stare his shining sweaty body.

Sameer had sensed her the moment she had entered the room & his gaze stayed fixed on her till she stood in front of him. He was loving the way his adorable wife was drooling over him. As he continued with the push-ups, she rested herself at the balcony wall & continued staring.

After few minutes, Sameer finished his workout & he teased her, "Poore din yahin khade rehne ka iraada hai kya???" Blushing a little, she said, "Main wait kar rahi thi ki kab aapki exercise khatam ho toh main aapko kahun ki Nanaji hamara naashte ke liye wait kar rahe hai."

Sameer covered the distance between them & rested his hands at her either side near her head, without touching her body. At the precise moment, Naina moved her tongue to wet her lips which distracted her husband as usual. Before he could claim her lips, she pushed him & ran away from his reach.

But Sameer was faster than her & caught hold of her hand near the bed. She spoke, "Sameer haath chodiye. Hum... Kal raat ki tarah hum baar baar jhooth toh nahi bol sakte na Nanaji se..." As the words sunk in, Sameer shook his head with a smile while she tried to wriggle out of his tight hold.

"Main toh aisa waisa kuch nahi karne waala tha Naina... toh tum aise bhaagi kyun???" Sameer continued to tease while his wife was flushed. She stammered, "Wohhh... wohhh... mujhe lagaa... lagaa... ki... ki..."

Sameer pulled her a little & she forgot what all she wanted to say. He leaned a little & asked, "Ki... ki kya Naina??? Aage bolo..." Realizing what she was about to say, she bit her lower lip unconsciously which fuelled his desires to claim her lips. But he resisted, he knew that he had lied to his grandfather last night & he couldn't continue that all the time, especially during the daytime.

He left her hand & stood folding his hands over his chest. Naina hadn't expected that her husband would leave her that easily but nonetheless she turned to face him. He kept staring at her while she walked towards the cupboard & pulled out a fresh set of t-shirt & trackpants for him.

As she stopped at the door, she turned again, "Aapka favourite naashta banaa hai toh jaldi neeche aa jaaiyega. Hum wait karenge." Saying that, she was gone. Sameer inhaled deeply & brushed his sweaty hair with his fingers.

Though the lie that she had said the previous night was still fresh in his mind, yet he craved for her, his feelings didn't allow him to think more about it & he freshened up quickly to start the day. He joined them at the dining table where he updated Nanu about his deal in London.

Naina served him his favourite coffee & aloo parathas. He groaned as he took the first sip of the beverage which he had missed terribly. Naina blushed as he continued praising the coffee & said how much he had missed this for the past one month & had to bear the tasteless ones in London.

Nanu was enjoying the changed equation between the two. He couldn't pinpoint what had exactly changed but he could feel & see the change in his grandson's behaviour towards his wife. The couple kept stealing glances of each other which didn't escape Nanu's eyes. He was very much happy.

To keep the conversation going, Nanu asked, "Sameer... iss baar London se kuch nahi laaye tum? Har baar toh kuch naa kuch laate ho hum sab ke liye, toh iss baar kuch laaye ho yaa nahi?"

Sameer sneaked a glance of his wife & answered, "Haannn... laaya hun Nanu... wohhh kal bohot late ho gaya tha naa raat ko, isliye de nahi paaya. Abhi naashta hote hi, main le aata hun." Nanu nodded with a smile & they continued their meal & discussed about the upcoming projects & work in NGO.

All of a sudden, Nanu asked, "Sameer... Naina bataa rahi thi ki tune kal raat ko uske pair ko maalish ki thi aur ussi ki wajah se aaj wohh bilkul thik hai. Mujhe nahi pataa tha ke mere laadle ko yeh sab karna bhi aata hai." Shock was an understatement for the couple as they both gaped at their Nanu with open mouths.

Nanu though was enjoying their shocked faces. He knew that something had happened between the couple & so, Naina hadn't come down for the dinner last night. He had seen her walking around the house since morning normally & the way she had lowered her gaze while answering him, had confirmed his suspicion.

Sameer choked on the coffee that he was sipping while Naina wanted to die of embarrassment. She hadn't expected Nanu to speak this in front of them & yet when he did, Naina was more than mortified.

Sameer didn't know what Nanu was talking about & then suddenly he remembered about previous night & the lie he had told Nanu. Just a glance at the shocked expressions of his wife confirmed that she was the one who had made up this story.

Wiping his mouth with his kerchief, he stammered, "Haannnn... wohhhh... wohhhh... baraf lagaane ke baad bhi Naina ka pair dukh hi raha tha. Fir maine hi ointment lagaakar, thodi der massage kiya, jisse pain thoda kam ho gaya."

Sameer too wasn't able to meet his grandfather's eyes while replying which made Nanu chuckle internally, "Yeh bacche bhi naa, thik se jhooth bhi nahi bol paate." Watching their embarrassed faces, he let the matter go, but he wasn't done yet.

Nanu continued, "Sameer... Naina... aaj bhi Munna, Pandit, Preeti, Anjali aur Kabir dinner ke liye aayenge, toh kahin baahar jaane ka plan mat banaa lena. Thik hai... Aaj bohot dinon baad poori ki poori paltan ek saath ghar mein hogi. Tum sab bacchon ko haste khelte dekhta hun naa, toh mann bhar aata hai, bohot khush ho jaata hun tum sabko ek saath dekh kar."

Sameer & Naina nodded together. Sameer confirmed that he had no plans whatsoever to go out as he was too tired & wanted to spend the day at home. He also added that he would give all the gifts that he had brought from London in the evening itself. Naina too confirmed that she would take care of the meal at night with the help of Ramdhari.

Once done with the meal, Sameer excused himself & left to attend a conference call with some important clients while Naina, Nanu & Ramdhari discussed about the dinner plan for the evening.

After finishing his call, Sameer joined Nanu in the living room while Naina was studying in the room. Sameer didn't want to disturb Naina & so, he decided to stay downstairs for some more time. He went back to the room to find Naina sleeping on the couch with a open book which rested on her chest.

Shaking his head, Sameer slowly kept the book away & picked up his wife in his arms. The moment he made her sleep on the bed, Naina held his hand & whispered, "Aap bhi thoda aaram kar lijiye Sameer..."

With a smile, he joined her on the bed. As if sensing his presence beside her, Naina snuggled closer to him & rested her head on his chest. Within few minutes, Sameer too drifted to sleep.

It was already evening time, when Naina & Sameer woke up with a start hearing loud voices from downstairs. They freshened up quickly & joined their friends in the living room with a gusto.

All the friends were really happy to see the different camaraderie between the couple. They had noticed the way both looked at each other with love filled eyes. After talking for some more time with everyone, Sameer went upstairs to bring the gifts he had brought for his friends.

Sameer handed a small box to everyone which was opened instantly to reveal the famous mugs from London. He also handed few chocolates to their friends. He had bought a couple of books for Nanu & Naina accompanied with the mugs & chocolates too.

Pandit teased, "Kya yaar Sameer... Tu Naina ke liye London se sirf books, chocolates, aur yeh pakao sa mug laaya. Kuch tohh special gift laana chahiye tha naa?" Sameer got up from his place & walked towards Naina. She didn't know what he was upto, so she held her breath till he made place to sit beside her.

Preeti shifted a little to make space for him on the same couch. Each & everyone in the room had gone quiet & were watching them. Sameer took out a small red velvet pouch from his pocket & forwarded it to his lovely wife.

Naina was shocked to see that he had brought something special for her from London. She trembled while opening the pouch. There were oohhhsss & aaahhhhhsss as she pulled out a beautiful diamond bracelet from the pouch. Her eyes misted instantly & her husband took the bracelet away from her.

"Main... main pehnaa deta hun..." His soft husky voice made her shiver & then she shuddered some more when he made her wear the beautiful bracelet. Her eyes shone more than the diamond bracelet on her hand.

As the tears rolled down her cheeks, Sameer slowly wiped them. The radiant smile that he saw on her face at that moment would be imprinted in his mind forever. Without thinking about the consequences, he leaned forward & kissed her cheek.

To his amusement & irritation, his friends hooted loudly breaking their small moment. Nanu wiped the tears that had made way in his eyes watching the scene. He was finally happy that the kids were no longer acting as strangers in front of their friends & had accepted their relationship willingly.

As the dinner was served, Naina went back to the room to fetch something while Kabir was talking on the phone with Nisha. As he saw Naina approaching, he bid goodbye to Nisha. Naina too stopped to talk to him, "Kabir... mujhe tumse bohot important baat karni hai."

She narrated how she had lied to Sameer about her going out with him last evening. She continued, "Kabir... tumhe ab Nisha ke baare mein sabko bataa dena chahiye. Main Sameer se jhooth nahi bol sakti."

"Dekho Naina... bas thode din ki baat hai, fir toh sach sabke saamne aa hi jaayega. Please tab tak tum kisise kuch mat kehna. Main jaanta hun ki tumhe Sameer se jhooth bolna accha nahi lag rahaa... bas thode din aur Naina, fir main khud mere rishtey ke baare mein sabko sab sach bataa dunga. Please tab tak tumhe yeh sabse chupaana hoga Naina. I hope tumhe tumhara promise yaad hai..."

Naina's shoulders slumped & she agreed unwillingly. "Thik hai... main kisise kuch nahi kahungi. Par please tum jaldi kuch karo, main Sameer se kuch chupaana nahi chaahti aur naa hi mujhe unse jhooth bolna sahi lag raha hai. Wohh kitna bharosa karte hai mujhpar aur main... main unse jhooth bol rahi hun. Jo bhi karna hai wohh jaldi karo Kabir, mujhse ab jhooth nahi bola jaayega."

Kabir replied, "Naina... bas kuch din aur fir sabko sach pataa chal jaayega, tab tak tum mera saath mat chodna." Naina smiled & gave in again to the promise she had made to Kabir.

Unknown to both of them, Sameer had heard their half ending conversation...

How was the update???

Well... even after seeing Naina & Kabir in the jewellery shop, Sameer wanted to believe his heart & at the end, he followed his heart & didn't discuss the matter...

But what now???

Will he trust Naina after hearing the ending conversation where there was no mention of Nisha at all???

Will Sameer confront Naina & Kabir???

Will Sameer still follow his heart & love???

Next update will be posted next weekend...

Till then take care & stay safe...

With Lots of Love,

Daksha...❤️

FATE TWISTED BY LOVE

CHAPTER 49

Sameer stood frozen to his spot in the middle of the stairs. He couldn't believe his ears. Had he heard it right? What were they talking about? Before he could move ahead & confront them, Pandit called from the living room. "Sameer... Chal yaar... Naina ko bulaane jaa raha tha toh aise beech mein statue ki tarah kyun khada reh gaya? Jaa... jaldi usse bulaa... Bohot bhook lagi hai, pet mein chuhe disco dandiya khel rahe hai."

He closed his eyes to calm down his anger. No matter what he couldn't confront them in front of everyone here. He definitely wanted to know what was all that conversation about. Unknown to the anger simmering in Sameer's head, Naina went to her room to fetch some notes for Preeti while Kabir again called up Nisha & continued his conversation. None of them had sensed Sameer's presence or heard Pandit's voice.

Taking an about turn, Sameer joined his friends & Nanu in the living room. Kabir came down still talking over his phone & after few minutes, Naina too joined them. All the three girls with the help of Ramdhari arranged the meal on the dining table.

During dinner, everyone kept chatting about mundane things while Sameer was lost in his thoughts. The conversation kept replaying in his mind on loop. Naina who was sitting beside him, saw him fiddling with his spoon. He hadn't even finished the first serving whereas others were relishing the second helping of the vegetable biryani made by her.

Naina silently kept her hand on his leg & asked, "Kya hua Sameer? Aap kuch khaa kyun nahi rahe? Aapko biryani acchi nahi lagi kya?" Her soft voice broke his reverie & he faced her. There were many questions which he wanted to ask, but he couldn't do it, not in front of everyone. His courage failed every time he saw her innocent face. He just shook his head in reply & continued eating.

Could she do this? No... she can't do this to him... She loved him, right??? He recalled the moment when he had heard her sweet confession in San Francisco, which will always be engraved in his heart forever. She loved him so much, then why would she betray him? He still couldn't believe that she had said those words to Kabir? What were they exactly trying to hide & what relationship was Kabir talking about?

"Sameer... tu kuch kha kyun nahi raha???" Nanu's voice broke his thoughts again & he smiled looking at his grandfather. For now, he concentrated on his meal & engrossed himself with talking to his best friends. He would try to find out what that conversation was all about later at night.

Naina had never seen her husband so lost. What was disturbing him so much? Why had he gone so silent all of a sudden? Is there any kind of pressure in his work which made him so stressed? She glanced at him once more to see him chatting with Munna about some work-related stuff.

She thought, "Jab dekho tab kaam ki hi baatein. Khaate waqt toh kuch aur baatein karni chahiye naa? Thik se khaana bhi nahi khaa rahe, ginn ke ab tak teen chammach biryani khaayi hogi. Sameer bhi naa... bilkul apna khayaal nahi rakhte. Ab thik se khaana nahi khaayenge toh unki sehat bhi kharaab ho jaayegi naa?"

While she was lost in her thoughts & staring at her husband, Preeti was observing her best friend. She nudged her & spoke softly, "Ab tera pati yahin rehne waala hai tere saath, toh ab usse ghoorna band kar aur apne khaane par dhyaan de. Kab se taade jaa rahi hai Sameer ko, pataa hai ek mahine baad aaya hai London se, par iska yeh matlab nahi ki tu uss ek mahine ki kami ek saath abhi hi poori kar le. Tere paas bohot time hai uske saath rehne ke liye, tab taad lena jitna taadna ho utna, abhi chupchaap khaana khaa. Samjhi???"

Anjali who sat next to Preeti giggled hearing her threat to Naina. They finished their meal soon after & then relished the rasmalai brought by Kabir. Sameer was lost all the while. Everyone present in the house thought that he was tired, so they bid goodbye to the couple & Nanu in the next few minutes.

Naina finished all the kitchen chores & headed to her room where her husband was waiting impatiently for her. By the time, she changed into her night suit, Sameer was restless. He had been dying to talk to her & clear all the negative thoughts that were disturbing him. The conversation was still fresh in his mind. He didn't want to come to a conclusion until he had cleared it out with his wife. He trusted her & he knew that she won't lie to him at all.

The moment Naina came near the bed, Sameer held her hand & pulled her next to him. "Yahaan baitho... mujhe... mujhe tumse kuch baat karni hai." Naina was stunned for a moment as he had never pulled her so urgently to have a conversation. She settled next to him & spoke softly, "Kahiye... kya baat karni hai."

"Naina... tum... tum aur Kabir dinner se pehle kya baat kar rahe the?" Naina froze as she heard his question. Sameer felt her stiffen next to him. He could see her fidgeting with her night shirt & he understood that she was nervous, but he had to know about their conversation & he wasn't ready to let go of this topic for now.

Naina was aware of his intent gaze on her & knew that he was waiting for her reply. What should she say now? She definitely can't reveal Kabir's & Nisha's relationship until he would propose to her & wanted to make it official. She had already lied about the jewellery shop visit & now this. She would've to lie again & she did.

Without meeting his gaze, she replied, "Aap... aap isiliye dinner ke time se itne khoye khoye hue the?" Dodging her question, he said, "Main tumhare jawaab ka wait kar raha hun Naina..." She cursed Kabir for a while & replied, "Wohhh... hum... hum toh aise hi NGO ke kaam ke baare mein baat kar rahe the."

Sameer wanted to know the truth but somehow he had an idea that his wife & his friend were hiding something for sure. Naina wasn't someone who would lie to him so easily. He knew her enough. He didn't understand what was so much important that she was lying to him. This was the second time that she was not revealing the truth.

Palming her face, he asked, "Meri aankhon mein dekho Naina aur bolo, kya baat kar rahi the tum dono, kyunki maine jo suna wohhh NGO ke baare mein toh nahi tha?" Naina closed her eyes; she couldn't meet his eyes & lie to him. She couldn't do this. But she also had to keep her promise to Kabir.

Making a decision, she opened her eyes & said, "Sameer... main... main aapko... aapko abhi kuch nahi bataa sakti, par vaada karti hun ki sahi waqt aane par main aur Kabir khud hi sab sach bataa denge. Aap... aap... mujhpar bharosa toh karte hai naa Sameer???"

Looking at her misty eyes, his resolve of further probing her for answers weakened & he gave up, "Haann... mujhe tum par vishwaas hai Naina, isliye toh maine seedhe seedhe tumse poocha. Main nahi chaahta tha ki main tumhare baare mein koi galat raai banaaun. Thik hai, main sahi waqt ka wait karunga. Bas yahi ummeed karta hun Naina ki tum aisa kuch na karo jisse tum mujhe yaa Nanu ko hurt karo." She was glad that he hadn't misunderstood her & had asked her directly, but she was still disturbed. Had he heard the whole conversation? No... If he had heard the entire thing, then he wouldn't have questioned her at all. He would've known that they were talking about Kabir & Nisha.

Not wanting to continue that topic any further, Naina turned to switch off the bedside lamps. As they snuggled into each other's arms, both were busy in their thoughts. Naina was not happy with her lying to him at all. She wanted to tell him the truth but she was bound by a promise to Kabir.

"Bhagwaanji... mujhe maaf kar dena please... maine kal se do baar hi jhooth bol chuki hun Sameer se... Aap toh sab jaante hai naa ki main yeh sab kyun kar rahi hun. Main Kabir se kiya vaada nahi tod sakti aur issi waade ki wajah se main Sameer ko sach bataa nahi paa rahi. Please bhagwaanji... mujhe maaf kar dijiyega..."

Closing her eyes, she continued her thoughts, "I'm sorry Sameer... main aapko sach nahi bataa sakti. Main majboor hun Sameer, Kabir se vaade mein bandhi hui hun. Bas Kabir jaldi Nisha se apne dil ki baat keh de, fir sab thik ho jaayega. Fir mujhe bhi koi jhooth nahi bolna padega."

On the other end, Sameer too was lost in his thoughts. "Naina ne fir se jhooth bola... Aise kaise kar sakti hai wohh? Aaj tak toh kabhi jhooth nahi bol paayi mujhse aur ab, jab se main aaya hun, usne mujhse jhooth hi bola hai. Pehle jewellery shop ke baare mein aur aaj unki baaton ke baare mein. Naina agar mujhse chupaa rahi hai toh iska yahi matlab hai ki koi bohot hi important baat hai. Par kyaa??? Kya important baat ho sakti hai, jiske liye mujhse, apne pati se jhooth bol rahi hai??? Peechle ek mahine mein meri Naina ekdum badal gayi hai."

When he closed his eyes, her smiling innocent face appeared in front of his eyes. "Main Naina par bharosa karta hun, par Kabir... Kabir par nahi... Mujhe pataa hai ki Kabir ko Naina pasand hai, aur isiliye mujhe zaraa bhi vishwaas nahi hai uss par. Kahin Kabir Naina se pyaar toh nahi karne lagaa? Kahin wohh Naina ko mujhse chinna toh nahi chaahta?"

But then again, he thought, "Nahi... Aisa nahi ho sakta. Main Kabir ko itna toh jaanta hun ki wohh kabhi jaanbujhkar mera ghar nahi todega, mujhe hurt nahi karega, aakhir dost hai hum. Fir kya chupaa rahe hai yeh dono? Uss jewellery shop mein, Kabir ne Naina ke size ki ring li aur wohh pendant, uss mein bhi toh 'KN' likhwaaaya hai. Aur yeh sab mein Naina bhi uske saath thi."

Sameer's heart pained as he got flashbacks of the images of the design made by Kabir, it clearly said 'KN' & that ring... it was being readjusted to Naina's ring finger's size. He was confused yet he was having the sinking feeling about all this. Whatever it was, he knew that his married life was now at stake & in trouble because of Kabir.

Inspite of being wrapped in each other's arms, both were unable to sleep as dangerous thoughts crossed through their minds. As the sunlight seeped in through the curtains. Naina got up & started her chores. Sameer who had hardly got any sleep, got up when his wife woke him up.

The next three weeks passed by with Naina being busy with her exams & Sameer in his work. Kabir had gone to Delhi for two weeks for some important project. Sameer wasn't happy to see his wife studying till late nights & even skipping meals. He had scolded her, yet she forgot to eat & sleep on time.

Every night Sameer would pick her up from her old room & bring her back to their room. Naina was quite stressed till her exams finally ended. Nanu & Sameer knew that as always, she would definitely top this year too. They had seen her studying hard from past three weeks.

Kabir returned the same day when the exams ended. Sameer was waiting for this day, so he could take his wife out. It had been a long time that he craved for her presence next to him. Naina was so busy in her studies that she hardly had time to speak to him. Even she had missed his warmth next to her.

Sameer winded up his work early that day & left for home to surprise his wife. He reserved bookings for them in a five-star restaurant for dinner. He had this week to make her feel special. While driving home, he thought, "Ab sirf ek hafta bacha hai hamari wedding anniversary ko. Meri aur Naina ki shaadi ko ek saal poora hone walaa hai aur main... main ussi din meri Maina se apne dil ki baat bataane waala hun. And I'm sure ki Naina bhi wohh teen magical words mujhse kahegi. Bas yeh ek hafta jaldi nikal jaaye, kyunki ab main apne dil ki baat apne dil mein nahi rakh paaunga."

Touching the red roses bouquet on the passenger's seat, he smiled, "Bas ek aur week Naina... fir hum hamesha hamesha ke liye ek ho jaayenge. Sahi maayno mein hum pati patni ka safar shuru karenge. Aur tumhare liye ek surprise bhi hai... bohot bada surprise. I hope tumhe yeh sab accha lage."

When he reached home, he kept the bouquet at the back seat & entered the house happily but all his happiness turned sour as he saw Kabir sitting in the living room with Naina & Nanu. All the thoughts that he had avoided from past three weeks came back with a bang. He had never mentioned about all his thoughts to Naina as he didn't want her to be disturbed while studying, after all it was her final exams.

But now, he was seething in anger. After three weeks, he finally had a chance to have his wife for himself & here, his wife was happily chatting with his friend. On seeing Sameer at the entrance, Nanu called out, "Arey... Sameer... tu aaj jaldi ghar kaise aa gaya???" Naina & Kabir watched him entering the house. Naina was happy to see him home so early. She got up & went to make his favourite coffee which he had missed from past few weeks.

Sameer sat next to Kabir & chatted with them informing about some investor who was interested in donating some essentials to their NGO. After ten minutes, Naina joined them with tray of tea & coffee cups. Ramdhari placed the snacks plates on the table & retuned to the kitchen.

Nanu spoke again, "Sameer... ab tu office se jaldi aa hi gaya hai toh tu fresh ho jaa." Before Sameer could say anything, Nanu interrupted, "Aisa kar fresh hone se pehle tu mujhe NGO chod de, waise bhi Naina aur Kabir, NGO ke kaam se kahin baahar jaa rahe hai."

Sameer looked at his wife who was already ready with her handbag. Sameer wasn't happy with the sudden turn of events. Keeping calm, he replied, "Main toh ek file hi lene aaya tha Nanu. Bas do minute rukiye, main abhi aaya." Saying that, he took the stairs. Without even glancing at his wife, he strode towards his room.

Once in his room, he entered the bathroom hurriedly & turned the faucet on. Even after splashing some cold water on his face, his anger didn't simmer down. He walked back in his room & opened the cupboard. Picking up a random file, he left downstairs to see Kabir & Naina waiting to bid him goodbye.

Before Naina could say anything to him, Sameer spoke, "Nanu... Chaliye... mujhe waapis office bhi jaana hai. Aur haannn... ek baat aur... mujhe aaj ghar aane mein late ho jaayega toh aap log dinner kar lena aur mera wait mat karna." Without glancing at his wife even once, he walked towards his car & waited for Nanu. Kabir & Nanu sensed that Sameer was definitely angry for some reason.

Without a word, Nanu joined his grandson in the car while Kabir & Naina headed towards their destination, Preeti's café. Nanu kept silent throughout the ride. He had seen the bouquet on the backseat & had understood why his grandson was angry. Nanu felt bad for him as he was the one who had disrupted his plans for an outing. He had wanted to arrange a small party at NGO for the girls & had asked Naina & Kabir to collect the sandwiches & pastries from Preeti's café. He wished he had known about his grandson's plans then he wouldn't have sent Naina with Kabir.

Kabir kept talking about Nisha while Naina was lost in her thoughts, "Sameer ko aaj kya ho gaya hai? Aaj meri taraf ek baar bhi nahi dekha, aur naahi poocha ki meri exam kaise gayi. Kis baat par itna gussa the aaj? Itne dinon se toh mera itna khayaal rakh rahe the, mere khaane peene ka, meri padhaai ka, mere sone ka. Har choti si choti cheez mein meri help kar rahe the. Aur aaj aisa kya ho gaya ki meri taraf ek baar dekha bhi nahi, mujhse baat bhi nahi ki. Aur... wohh kyaa tha 'mujhe aaj ghar aane mein late ho jaayega toh aap log dinner kar lena aur mera wait mat karna." Seedhe seedhe mujhse nahi keh sakte the ki main late aaunga. Pataa nahi... yeh caring husband achaanak se ekdum khadoos husband kaise bann jaate hai?"

Kabir noticed Naina was lost in her thoughts & he knew it had to be about her handsome husband for sure. Today he had seen how his presence with Naina affected Sameer. At first, he had done it to make his friend realize his feelings towards Naina but now, that wasn't the case. Kabir could clearly see that his friend was in love with Naina, but he also knew that he hadn't confessed it to her yet. What was stopping Sameer from doing that, he thought? Then suddenly something struck him & he asked, "Naina... ummm... tumhari aur Sameer ki shaadi ki anniversary kab hai???"

This sudden question broke her thoughts too & she spoke with a smile, "Iss Sunday hamari wedding anniversary hai Kabir. Sameer aur meri shaadi ki pehli wedding anniversary..." Her cheeks turned scarlet as Kabir teased, "Ohoooo... itni jaldi ek saal ho bhi gaya. Ab toh party banti hai Naina... Hum toh last time shaadi mein the nahi, toh iss anniversary ko hi hum celebrate kar lenge. What say Naina??? Kuch plan karte hai naa..."

Naina went quite after that as she thought again, "Pataa nahi mujhe jaise jaise yeh din kareeb aa raha hai waise hi ek ajeeb si ghabraahat kyun ho rahi hai?" The images of her signing the divorce papers & agreements flashed in her mind which pained her heart yet again. Was their relation going to end on their anniversary or was this marriage going to continue, she didn't know it yet.

Kabir placed his hand on hers & spoke, "Pehle ki baatein sochne ki zarurat nahi hai... Tum maano yaa na maano Naina... par sab kuch pehle jaisa nahi raha hai. Sameer tumse pyaar karne lagaa hai aur yeh uski aankhon mein saaf saaf dikhta hai. Bas wohh yeh baat tumhe bataane ka sahi mauka dhoondh raha hoga yaa shaayad aisa bhi ho sakta hai ki Sameer tumse apne dil ki baat wedding anniversary waale din hi kahe."

Naina too had seen the changes in him since he had returned from London. His each & every small gesture seemed different. His feelings were written all over his face & she could clearly see them. But why hadn't he said that till now, what was the need to wait till their wedding anniversary? She didn't understand this. The rest of their drive went silent as they drove towards Preeti's café.

As Kabir parked his car on the opposite side of the café, he spoke, "Naina... ek accha idea aaya hai mujhe. Main aisa karta hun ki tumhari wedding anniversary ke din hi Nisha ko propose karta hun. Issi bahaane sabko sab sach bhi pataa chal jaayega aur mujhe kisiko kuch alag se bataana bhi nahi padega. Kaisa lagaa idea???"

Naina beamed hearing his idea. It was definitely sounding good. So, after a week, everyone would know about Kabir & Nisha & then, she would tell the whole truth to Sameer too. He deserved it, didn't he? Naina was happy with this idea & she asked him to proceed with the same.

"Acchaa Naina... Suno... ek baat toh main bataana hi bhool gaya. Jab main Delhi mein tha, tab mujhe wohh jeweller ka call aaya tha, unhone kahaa ki ring, chain aur pendant sab ready ho gaya hai. Main kaam ke chakkar mein wohh bhool hi gaya tha. Kya tum mere liye wohh sab jeweller ke paas se pick up kar logi? Agar main kal busy nahi hota toh khud hi le aata. Please Naina... mera yeh chota sa kaam kar dogi???"

Naina immediately agreed & told him that she would collect it the next day. Kabir continued, "Aur apne paas hi rakhna, warna pataa chala ki main Nisha ko propose toh kar dunga, aur mere paas kuch dene ko hoga hi nahi. Tumhare hi ghar mein rahega toh agar main bhool bhi gaya toh tum mujhe yaad dilaa dena, fir koi problem bhi nahi hoga."

Naina smiled, "Haannn... Haannn... Waise bhi jab Nisha tumhare saamne hoti hai toh tumhe kahaan kuch yaad rehta hai. Bas Nisha mein hi kho jaate ho poori tarah. Aas paas koi hai yaa nahi isse tumhe koi khaas farak nahi padta Kabir. Kyun? Sahi keh rahi hun naa?" Kabir sat there red faced hearing her teasing.

After a minute or so, Naina said, "Ab chalo... hume waapis NGO bhi jaana hai. Yahin tumhari Nisha ki baat karne lage toh raat bhi kamm padegi, nahi???" She continued with her teasing while Kabir tried to hide his blush. They went to the café & collected the sandwiches & pastries for the girls in the NGO.

At the other end, Sameer fumed recollecting what all happened at home an hour ago. Munna & Pandit were shocked seeing his friend back in office. They knew about the dinner reservations Sameer had made for Naina & him. They were content watching their best friend happy since he had returned from London. They were sure that somewhere Sameer had started loving Naina & hence, he had accepted their relationship too.

Sameer never shared his feelings about his wife with them from the past few months which was shocking for them. He had always shared each & everything with them. But since his return from London, he had masked his emotions until today. Today, he looked like a raging bull who was ready to kill anyone who dared to cross him today. Even Sameer's assistant tried to stay away from him for now.

Watching the furious Sameer Maheshwari, it was time for his best friends to intervene. Without knocking the door, Munna & Pandit entered the cabin to see their frantic friend pacing the cabin from one end to the other. They sat down at the couch & watched him curiously.

Ten minutes passed, but their friend didn't stop his tempo. Taking the lead, Pandit asked, "Munna... isse aise idhar se udhar chalte dekhkar mera sar ghoomne lagaa hai." Munna was observing their best friend quietly. He knew that something drastic had happened. He had seen Sameer changing for the better. But now, something was bothering his friend for sure & it was definitely related to Naina.

Getting up from the couch, Munna stopped Sameer in the middle & held his shoulders, "Sameer... bas... ab bas... ruk jaa bhai... Pehle yahaan shanti se baith aur bataa kya baat hai? Kya hua hai? Tune toh aaj five-star restaurant mein dinner ke liye reservation kiya tha naa? Ghar bhi issiliye jaldi gaya tha taaki Naina ko surprise de sake, toh waapis kyun aa gaya office???"

Pandit joined the interrogation, "Kahin Naina ne tere saath jaane se manaa toh nahi kar diya naa? Isliye tu aise Hulk ki tarah behave kar raha hai?" Saying this, Pandit started laughing loudly. Munna glared at him while Sameer stayed mum. This wasn't the reaction that Pandit & Munna had expected from him.

When a single tear drop slipped from his eye, both his friends panicked. Sameer wasn't the one who would cry this easily. Munna instantly took him in a hug & asked, "Sameer... Kya hua hai? Tu... tu ro kyun raha hai? Kya hua hai Sameer? Please kuch toh bol?" Pandit too joined the hug & cried, "Sameer... main... main toh mazaak kar raha tha yaar? Tu... tu rone kyun lagaa? Bol naa kya hua hai?"

Sameer hugged his friends tightly & let his tears flow freely. All the uneasiness watching Kabir & Naina together for some time now, finally came to the forefront & he cried his heart out. When he stopped, he broke the hug & stood up. He wanted to vent out his frustration & his best friends would definitely hear him out. He knew his friends won't judge him & would listen to him & offer him their honest advice too. His friends have been his lifeline since childhood.

Wiping his tears, Sameer narrated everything from the start. He left nothing out. He wanted to share & he knew that his friends would understand him. He told them all about Kabir provoking him from the start. Though Munna & Pandit knew about all this as they were a part of that plan too, they heard his version. They felt bad too that they had to help Kabir in his plan, but they knew that this was the only way where Sameer would start understanding his feelings towards his wife.

But when Sameer narrated about the incidents after returning from London, Munna & Pandit were stunned. They had no idea about all this. What was exactly cooking between Kabir & Naina? Munna looked at Pandit & he just shrugged in response. Sameer kept on cursing Kabir & sided with Naina.

"Munna... Pandit... main bataa nahi sakta ki mujhe kitna bura lagaa Naina ko Kabir ke saath uss jewellery shop mein dekhkar. Jab uss manager ne mujhe Kabir ka banaaya hua design dikhaaya, toh mera dil dhadakna hi band ho gaya tha yaar. Aur jab usne kahaa ki Naina Kabir ki girlfriend hai, tab mann kar raha tha ki main uss manager ka mooh hi tod dun aur uski jaan le lu. Jab maine Naina ko iss baare mein poocha toh usne mujhse jhooth bola, bola ki wohhh Kabir ke saath NGO ke liye kuch saamaan lene gayi thi. Main chaahta toh usse zabardasti sach bulva leta par main dekhna chaahta tha ki Naina mujhse aur kitna jhooth bolti hai."

"Aur jab kal maine unki baatein suni toh samajh aaya ki Naina aur Kabir, dono mujhse kuch chupaa rahe hai. Baar baar Kabir yahi keh raha tha ki sahi time aane par wohh khud sabko sach bataa dega aur Naina usse keh rahi thi ki usse mujhse baar baar jhooth bolna sahi nahi lag raha. Aisi kya baat hai jo dono mujhse aur hum sabse chupaa rahe hai? Aaj tak meri Naina ne mujhse jhooth nahi bola hai aur main ek mahine ke liye London kya gaya, Naina jhooth bolna seekh gayi, aur wohh bhi Kabir ke liye, jo mujhe bilkul accha nahi lag raha."

Munna asked, "Kya tu Naina se pyaar karne lagaa hai Sameer???" Pandit too had wanted to ask this question for a while now & so, he looked at his best friend hopefully. Sameer faced them, "Haannn... Main Naina se pyaar karta hun." Munna & Pandit cheered happily & hugged Sameer.

"Hum kabse yeh sunna chaahte the Sameer. Finally, hum Naina ko ab Bhabhi bulaa sakte hai.", Pandit said happily. Munna's eyes brimmed with tears, "Sameer... tune yeh baat samajhne ke liye ek saal lagaa diya. Hum toh kabse wait kar rahe the yeh sunne ke liye. Naina se acchi Jeevan Saathi tujhe kabhi nahi mil sakti thi Sameer." Sameer replied nervously, "Pataa hai..."

Munna thumped his back & said, "Tujhe Naina par bharosa hai naa? Fir kis baat ki chinta? Dekh... hum bhi Naina ko ek saal se jaante hai, wohh aisa kuch nahi karegi jisse tujhe hurt ho. Humne dekha hai ki wohh tujhe kitna maanti hai aur kitna pyaar karti hai tujhse, wohh tujhe dhokha dene ke baare mein soch bhi nahi sakti Sameer."

Sameer replied, "Main jaanta hun ki Naina bhi mujhse pyaar karti hai, dekha hai maine, mehsoos kiya hai mere dil ne." Munna & Pandit shared a look, "Tujhe kaise pataa ki Naina bhi tujhse pyaar karti hai???" Sameer told them what all had happened in San Francisco & how he had unintentionally heard her sweet love confession. His friends were stunned hearing all this.

"Mujhe meri Naina par poora yakin hai yaar par pataa nahi ab yeh sab dekhkar mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha. Main vishwaas karna chaahta hun par kuch hai, jo main dekhkar bhi nahi dekh paa raha. Kya chal raha hai Naina aur Kabir ke beech? Kabir kis rishtey ke baare mein baat kar raha tha? Mujhe jaanna hai, jald se jald mujhe pataa lagaana hoga, kyunki main Naina aur mere rishtey ko ek mauka dena chaahta hun, usse wohh hakk dena chaahta hun jo mujhe bohot pehle hi Naina ko de dena chahiye tha, meri patni hone ka hakk. Iss Sunday hamari pehli wedding anniversary hai, aur main Naina ko surprise dena chahta hun. Naina se apne dil ki baat bhi kahunga aur usse firse shaadi bhi karunga. Jab peechle saal shaadi ki thi, toh majboori mein ki thi, par ab... ab main poore dil se Naina ko apni wife banaana chaahta hun, wohh bhi sab ke saamne, poore riri riwaaz se."

Munna & Pandit were very much happy hearing that Sameer wanted to give his marriage a fair chance. Finally, he had confessed to his friends that he loved his wife & trusted her too. But whatever was happening from the last few days was making him sceptical about everything. Just because he was in love with her, was he blindly trusting her? This thought passed through his mind several times, yet somewhere his heart wanted to trust Naina & he did. That was the reason he wanted to give their marriage a fair chance.

In the NGO, after distributing the sandwiches & pastries to all the girls, Naina sat beside Nanu who was lost somewhere. "Nanaji... aap kya soch rahe hai? Kab se dekh rahi hun aapka dhyaan yahaan hai hi nahi. Kya hua? Koi problem hai kya?" Without glancing at her, he replied, "Naina... tum jaanti ho aaj Sameer jaldi ghar kyun aaya tha?"

"Nanaji... Sameer toh koi file lene ghar aaye the naa? Toh fir aap aisa kyun pooch rahe hai?" Nanu closed his eyes & replied, "Nahi Naina... Sameer tumhe surprise dene ghar aaya tha, shaayad tumhe kahin baahar le jaane waala tha. Maine car mein laal gulaabon ka guldastaa dekha tha. Aur main samajh gaya ki Sameer sirf tumhare liye ghar jaldi aaya tha. Agar main tumhe aur Kabir ko café jaane ki baat naa kehta toh Sameer gussa nahi hota. Meri wajah se uska saara surprise kharaab ho gaya Naina..."

Naina was shocked with the revelation. She had no idea about this & had believed his words of coming back home for a file. Sameer wanted to take her out & so, he was angry on her for going out with Kabir. She realized that she had messed up this time unknowingly. "Sameer ne pehle hi bataa diya hota toh main Kabir ke saath baahar hi nahi jaati naa? Yeh Sameer bhi naa..." But her mind immediately spoke, "Sameer ko waise bhi mera Kabir ke saath rehna pasand nahi hai. Unse main pehle hi do baar jhooth bol diya hai aur ab yeh... bohot mushkil se maine unhe apne aap par bharosa rakhne ko kahaa tha, aur ab aaj mera yun Kabir ke saath jaana, unhe bilkul accha nahi lagaa hoga. Sameer mere liye jaldi ghar aaye the, mere liye..."

Naina was on cloud nine hearing that he had come home early for her but she was much more upset with herself. If she knew he was going to plan something like this, then she wouldn't have left with Kabir at all. Her happiness didn't last long as she realized that unknowingly she had angered her husband & destroyed his surprise plans. She thought about the red roses bouquet. How would have she reacted when he would've given her those flowers? Her cheeks would've have turned red for sure which would've matched those red roses & Sameer would've enjoyed it thoroughly & teased her too.

Her thoughts were broken when she heard Nanu's voice, "Naina... Pataa nahi Sameer ka gussa shaant bhi hua hoga yaa nahi. Jab wohh ghar aaye toh usse manaa lena, waise mujhe yeh kehne ki zarurat nahi thi, par fir bhi tum usse sambhaal lena beta... Aaj uski chuppi mujhe bilkul acchi nahi lagi Naina... Usne poore raaste mujhse kuch baat hi nahi ki ... Maine Sameer ko aise kabhi nahi dekha, aisa lagaa jaise wohh bohot dukhi ho gaya hai."

Naina's heart broke when she heard Nanu's words. She took few deep breaths to stabilise her heartbeats. She was scared too. She knew what it meant that he was hurt & she was the reason behind it. She knew that she had already hurt him twice intentionally by lying & now this. How was she going to pacify him this time? She knew he trusted her but now she was more nervous. She prayed to the Almighty to give her some strength to persuade her furious husband...

That night as Sameer had said earlier, he came late. After talking to his best friends, he decided to stay in office & finish the review of an important project. His friends had already gone home & had advised him to go home too. But Sameer was in no mood to go home so soon & face his wife. He was still upset that his plan was spoiled. He knew it wasn't Naina's fault as he hadn't mentioned about the dinner plans to her. If the truth be told, he was feeling insecure whenever he saw his dear wife with Kabir. He thought that Naina was giving more importance to Kabir than him. She had started lying to him for Kabir, she was hiding few things from him for Kabir & now, she was always ready to go out with Kabir without even informing him. He was feeling very much insecure because of Kabir's presence in his wife's life.

Still five days were left for their first wedding anniversary & he hoped that all the things will be sorted out between them. He wanted to start his marital life after their first anniversary without any grudges. He wanted her to know what important place she had in his life. And the most important was that he loved her & he was going to confess his feelings in front of everyone. Accepting their marriage with all his heart was something he had never imagined doing it.

At around eleven at night, he opened the door with his spare key without making much noise. He knew his grandfather would've already drifted to sleep. He slowly walked towards his room & opened the door to find his wife sleeping on the couch. Why was Naina sleeping on the couch was the first thought that came to his mind?

He walked to her & watched her pale face. He could clearly see the dried tear-stained marks on her face. His heart twisted in pain as he realized that she had cried herself to sleep. Without disturbing her sleep, he picked her up in his arms & made her sleep on the bed. His eyes had already turned misty watching her tear-stained face.

As he remembered the events of the evening, he closed his eyes. With a swift turn, he walked to his cupboard & collected his night wear. He freshened up quickly & went back to bed. He was hungry as he had skipped his dinner. He wasn't in any good mood to relish anything. Walking towards his side of the bed, he rested himself comfortably.

As if Naina could sense him, she closed the gap between them & snuggled closer to him. As soon as Naina was in his arms, all his sadness flew away & he held her possessively. He kissed her forehead softly & spoke in a low voice, "Kyun karti ho tum aisa Naina? Kyun har baar tum mujhse jyaada importance Kabir ko deti ho, jabki tum jaanti ho ki mujhe tumhara uske saath rehna pasand nahi hai?"

The moment Sameer finished speaking, Naina opened his eyes & replied, "I'm sorry Sameer..." He was shocked to see her awake & asked, "Tum... tum jaag rahi ho???" She confessed honestly, "Haannnn... jab mujhe pataa tha ki aap mujhse naaraaz hai, toh mujhe neend kaise aati? Main toh aapke aane ka intezaar kar rahi thi."

As the tears made its way from her eyes again, Sameer wiped them slowly. She too kept her palm over his cheek & apologised again, "I'm really sorry Sameer... mujhe... mujhe sach mein nahi pataa tha ki aap... aap mujhe surprise dene ghar aaye the. Agar pataa hota toh main Kabir ke saath kahin baahar nahi jaati Sameer. Sach... Nanaji ne NGO mein ladkiyon ko party dene ka plan banaaya tha, isliye mujhe aur Kabir ko Preeti ke café se sandwiches aur pastries le aane ko kahaa tha. Sameer... please mujhse naaraaz mat rahiye, main... main aapki naaraazgi bardaaasht nahi kar paaungi."

Sameer couldn't see her tears & pulled her to himself. "Its... its ok Naina... tum peechle tin hafton se exams mein busy thi toh maine socha ki tumhe aaj main jaldi ghar aakar surprise dun. Main tumhe dinner ke liye baahar le jaana chaahta tha Naina, infact maine toh five-star hotel mein hamare liye reservations bhi kar diye the. par khair... shaayad hamare naseeb mein aaj kahin jaana likha hi nahi tha." Though he said it was ok, but he was not...

Naina felt bad but still she spoke, "Sameer... aap agar mujhe pehle hi bataa dete toh main Nanaji ko manaa kar deti aur aapke saath hi restaurant mein dinner karti." Sameer gave her a stern look, "Tumhe surprise ka matlab samajh bhi aata hai? Pehle hi bataa deta toh surprise kaise deta? Aur waise bhi ghar aane ke baad jo mujhe surprise mila, uske baad maine decide kar liya hai ki aaj ke baad main kabhi tumhe koi surprise nahi dunga."

"Sameer... aap..." Before she could say more, he cut her sentence midway, "Nahi Naina... Ab aur nahi... main... main bohot thak gaya hun. Ab tum bhi so jao, finally tumhari bhi exams khatam ho gayi hai naa." She didn't fight him on that & asked, "Aapne kuch khaaya Sameer?" Instead of answering her question, he bid her goodnight.

Naina's heart broke with his reply & she too bid him goodnight in a low voice. Sameer felt bad for behaving this way but he too was hurt. Even if they were wrapped in each other's arms, they felt distant. It wasn't Naina's fault, he knew. But still he didn't want to come around her this easily. He wanted her to realize his importance in her life. She can't always put Kabir or someone else first. He wanted her full attention only on him.

The next three mornings, Sameer got up earlier than usual, went to work without having breakfast & would come home late at midnight. Naina & Nanu weren't happy with this, but they couldn't do anything about it. Whenever they called, Sameer would never attend their calls & would never revert back. Nanu had a talk with his Rahu-Ketu & they too weren't happy watching this version of Sameer. They knew he was hurt but they had thought that he would leave this small incident behind & move on. But they were wrong.

In the last three days, Naina didn't go out with Kabir or Nisha as she didn't want to hurt Sameer anymore. She had heard his words that night & she knew that her husband wasn't liking her spending time with Kabir. So, she started avoiding it. It was only one time that she went out to the jeweller's shop to collect the jewellery that was ready for Kabir.

Sameer knew that Naina was home the whole time & wasn't going anywhere with Kabir. He was happy with it & was waiting for their first wedding anniversary, so that he could confess his love & marry her again. He was intentionally staying away from her & planning the surprise party for his wife. Even his best friends had no idea about it.

It was already Saturday when he decided to go home early & have a chat with his wife. He had ordered a red silk saree for the next day. He picked it up on the way home. As he reached his place, he was greeted with silence. He rushed towards his room in search of his wife to find their room vacant.

While keeping the bag in the cupboard, Sameer's eyes landed on a small bag that was kept at the lower shelf. As he read the name on the bag, he froze. The bag belonged to the same jeweller shop where he had seen Kabir & Naina together.

With shivering hands, he opened the bag & saw three small pouches. He walked towards the couch & sat down. He opened all the pouches one by one to find the same ring, the same chain & the same pendant that he had seen in the jewellery shop. His heart pained & broke into pieces as he saw the 'KN' pendant.

Did it mean 'Kabir-Naina'? No... it can't be... his mind & heart battled with different answers. When his heart wanted to trust Naina, his mind wasn't sure about it anymore. Again, he reminisced all the events that happened from past month & his heart hurt again. He just hoped that his heart was right this time for trusting Naina.

Sameer kept the things away in the cupboard again & walked back downstairs to find Ramdhari in the kitchen. On spotting Sameer, he asked, "Arey Sameer Bhaiya... aap jaldi aa gaye? Aap baithiye, main abhi coffee banaa deta hun." Sameer asked, "Ramdhari... mujhe coffee nahi chahiye. Mujhe yeh bataa ki Nanu aur Naina kahaan hai?"

Continuing his work, Ramdhari replied, "Nanu toh Munshiji ke saath kahin baahar gaye hai aur Naina Bhabhi Kabir bhaiya ke saath NGO gayi hai. Kabir bhaiya unhe lene aaye the, toh Bhabhi unhi ke saath chali gayi."

Sameer didn't know what to say & he turned towards the entrance furiously. Today... he was going to get answers to everything by hook or crook. It was high time that he knew what was cooking between Kabir & Naina. He picked up the car keys again & left towards the NGO.

Kabir had somehow convinced Naina to step out of the house & help him in proposing to Nisha. In the NGO, Kabir was trying his best to say something that would impress Naina so he could use the same lines to propose to his love, Nisha. Naina had half-heartedly accompanied Kabir to NGO. She couldn't refuse him, when he asked her to help him for one last time.

Kabir kept mimicking some stupid romantic lines from movies which made Naina burst out in peals of laughter. Kabir sat down next to her in defeat when nothing worked on her. He said sadly, "Mujhe lagta hai ki main kabhi Nisha ko apni life partner banaa hi nahi paaunga. Preeti sach hi kehti hai, main itna boring hun ki koi ladki meri life mein aa hi nahi sakti. Ek line thik se bol nahi paa raha tumhare saamne, Nisha ke saamne khaak kuch bol paaunga?"

Naina calmed herself watching her friend's condition. She knew he was one shy person & won't be able to express his feelings in words, especially in front of Nisha. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes & said, "Kabir... apni aankhen band karo... aur Nisha ke baare mein socho... uske haste hue chehre ko apne saamne imagine karo... aur bolo... kya feel karte ho tum Nisha ke baare mein..."

Naina was imagining Sameer & was preparing herself to do the same. It was high time that she decided to speak & express her feelings to her husband. She wasn't going to wait for Sameer to say it first. She knew he loved her but he was taking his own sweet time to confess. Now, she had decided to take the first step tomorrow itself, on their first wedding anniversary. She didn't know what the next day was going to be like. Would it end on a better note or bad? Will her marriage continue or not? But now, she had decided to speak her heart out before Sameer took any decision & his decision would seal her fate forever...

Kabir took few deep breaths & got up. He kneeled in front of Naina & held her hand, "Maine jabse tumhe dekha hai, tumse mila hun, ek alag sa connection feel hua hai. Jab tum hasti ho toh lagta hai ki yeh duniya kitni khoobsurat hai, tumhari uss hasi mein main aise kho jaata hun ki mann karta hai ki main tumhe dekhta hi rahun. Main chaahta hun ki yeh hasi kabhi tumhare chehre se hate hi nahi. Main chaahta hun ki main uss khoobsurat hasi ki wajah banu. Main... main tumse bohot pyaar karta hun... jaanta hun maine bohot time lagaa diya yeh kehne mein, par tum jaanti ho naa ki main aisa nahi hun... main apni feelings shabdon mein bayaan nahi kar paata... par tumne meri zindagi mein aakar mujhe aur meri zindagi ko poori tarah badal diya... I Love You... bohot pyaar karta hun tumse... kya tum meri life mein aakar meri boring si zindagi mein apni hasi se khushiyaan bhar sakti ho???"

Naina smiled looking at him & replied, "I Love You too..."

FATE TWISTED BY LOVE

CHAPTER 50

Sameer stood outside Kabir’s cabin transfixed. Did he actually hear that? Did Naina actually say those three magical words to Kabir, which were meant only for him? He had several times imagined her saying those words to him in his dreams, but here she had said them so casually to Kabir. His vision blurred as he took the scene in front of him. Kabir was kneeling in front of Naina & was holding her hand. What shocked him more was Naina’s misty gaze which held only & only love.

Had he misunderstood her feelings for him? Was she in love with Kabir all the time? When Sameer saw his wife genuinely smiling at his friend, there was no doubt left in his mind. Now, he was sure that Naina didn’t love him at all. He had been blind throughout. Whatever he had seen in her behaviour & gestures was all misleading. How didn’t he see this coming? Why did he trust her so much? Why did he love her so much? Whatever happened between them in this past year, was it just a façade for her?

Sameer wiped his tears & left from there without uttering a word. He didn’t want to disturb the lovebirds. After all, they had just confessed their feelings for each other, he thought painfully. Sameer wasn’t thinking rationally as he left from the NGO. He felt extremely angry on himself. Why did he trust her so much? Why had he allowed himself to love her?

As he drove away from the NGO, he was shattered. His heart which had finally started loving Naina was broken into millions of pieces. He was right. There was no thing called love. Love didn’t exist for him from now on. He regretted giving her a chance & trusting her. He regretted that he gave himself a chance to explore & find love with Naina. He was right to think that there won’t be anyone who would love him unconditionally. He had thought that Naina was the one, but now even that dream had shattered to pieces. Sameer drove around Ahmedabad for hours. At midnight, he finally drove towards his home. It was time to break all the illusions that he had dreamt for his life. It was time to face them…

In Kabir’s cabin, Naina smiled through misty eyes & spoke, “Kabir… I’m sure Nisha yahi kahegi… Tumhare pyaar ko accept karne ke alawa uske paas koi option hi nahi hai. Waise bhi mujhe lagta hai ki Nisha tumhe pasand karti hai, shaayad tumhare kuch kehne ka hi intezaar kar rahi ho. Bas ab aise hi apne dil ki baat Nisha se keh dena, mujhe pataa hai ki wohh tumhe manaa nahi karegi. Aur haannn… tumhe yaad hain aa ki Nisha ke liye tumne jo ring aur baaki jewellery li hai, wohh mere paas hai, toh usse kal yaad se le lena.”

Kabir laughed & got back to his seat, “Haannn… mujhe yaad hai… Naina… I just hope ki hum jaisa soch rahe hai waisa hi ho aur Nisha bhi apne pyaar ka izhaar kar de. Main bhi jaanta hun ki Nisha mujhe manaa nahi karegi, maine dekha hai bohot baar ki wohh mujh mein kaise kho jaati hai. Nisha mujhe pasand karti hai Naina, par ab yahi dekhna hai ki kya wohh mera pyaar accept karegi? Yeh bohot badaa faisla hai uske liye, I just hope ki wohh mujhe poore dil se accept kar le.”

Naina & Kabir sat for a few more minutes & discussed about the next day. As Naina left from the NGO, she was feeling restless. She wasn’t sure why she felt it so. In the car, she kept rubbing her hands nervously. She had stayed home from the past three days & had reluctantly joined Kabir to help him. She knew that she hadn’t informed Sameer about it, but what would she say? After knowing that her husband didn’t like her accompanying Kabir, how could she inform him? He would be hurt, if she did that & so, she didn’t feel the need to inform Sameer about it.

As she reached home, she saw Nanu sitting in the living room & Ramdhari was preparing dinner. She freshened up quickly & helped him in the kitchen. She prepared all the favourite dishes of Sameer. It was their wedding anniversary the next day, so she thought that she would surprise him with his favourite meal.

Nanu had called Sameer’s office & was informed that his grandson had left early. But there was no trace of Sameer even at ten at night. Nanu had called several times on his number but it was switched off. Naina & Nanu had their dinner late & were worried about Sameer. After waiting for some more time, Nanu retired to his room later. He had noticed that Sameer had been acting like a jerk since last few days & he was going to get an earful from his grandfather the next day for sure. Nanu knew that it was their wedding anniversary the next day & hoped that all would be well between the couple.

After finishing all her chores, Naina too retired to her room & waited for her husband. It was already eleven thirty but still Sameer hadn’t reached home. She wanted to make this night memorable for them. So, she decorated their room with candles & heart shaped balloons. She also added few roses petals around the candles. She placed their favourite chocolates near the bedside table. She had even baked a cake to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Switching off all the lights, Naina sat on the bed & waited for her husband.

It was already midnight, when she heard the sound of his car entering the gates. Glancing at her reflection in the mirror one last time, she sat on the couch nervously. She wasn’t sure how Sameer would react after seeing all these arrangements & especially her. She just hoped that he would like it all & would forgive her.

Sameer opened the door & was shocked to see all the decorations. As he entered, he stopped at the entrance to watch everything keenly. The candles, the balloons, the rose petals, everything made the atmosphere more romantic. As he took few steps ahead, he noticed his wife sitting on the couch who was watching him silently.

As she got up, he gasped watching her. She had worn a black sleeveless short dress that ended just above her knees. His eyes roamed over her curves & he gulped. He had never seen her wearing a short dress. He had many times insisted her to buy one, but she never agreed. Then why today? What was the need? And then it clicked his mind. It was their first wedding anniversary.

Naina could clearly read his thoughts on his face. She hesitantly took few steps & stopped right in front of him. She was about to wish him, when she heard him say, “Wowww… Naina… bohot accha decoration kiya hai… lagaa hi nahi ki yeh mera kamra hai.” Naina’s heart twisted as she heard, ‘Mera kamra.’

Breaking her thought, he continued, “Waise tum bhi bohot acchi lag rahi ho… ekdum hot…” She lowered her lashes & tried to control her blush. Sameer kept staring at her. He was damn angry… He only knew how he was controlling himself. He wanted to lash out, wanted explanations from her for her betrayal.

Fisting his hands, he closed the distance between them & pulled her in hug. Before she could react, he titled her face & kissed her passionately. Pouring all his anger into the kiss, he tightened his hold on her. Naina felt something different in the way he was kissing her, he was too demanding & rough.

As his hands moved over her back, he found the strings attached to the dress & pulled it open. Naina immediately stiffened in his arms. Even if he felt her stiffen, he continued & opened the strings completely. He turned her swiftly & pulled her back in his arms. As her back collided with his chest, he continued trailing kisses on her neck & shoulder. Naina could feel the change in him as his hands moved from her arms slowly towards her shoulders. As he tried to push the straps of her dress from her shoulders, Naina untangled herself from his hold instantly. She wasn’t ready for this until she shared her feelings with him & spoke her heart out.

Sameer wasn’t stunned with her act. He knew she would react this way for sure. As she faced him to talk, he spoke, “Come on Naina… tumne yeh sab mere liya kiya hai naa? Iss room ke decorations… yeh candles, yeh balloons, yeh rose petals, wohhh chocolates aur yeh short dress… yeh sab tumne mere liye kiya hai naa? Toh fir kya problem hai? Waise bhi hamari first wedding anniversary hai aaj aur tum meri legally wedded wife ho. Ab hamari shaadi ko ek saal ho gaya toh ab hume hamara rishta bhi aage badhaana chahiye naa?”

Naina was shocked to hear his words, she knew he was upset with her from past few days, but why was he saying all these things to her in such a way? What had she done now? Sameer walked around her & spoke, “Chalo… aaj hamari first wedding anniversary hai… isse accha mauka nahi milega hume, hamari suhaagraat celebrate karne ka?”

Naina froze hearing his words. The word ‘Suhaagraat’ rang in her mind incessantly. It wasn’t that she wasn’t comfortable with this, but she wanted the love confessions first before they started their marital life ahead in true sense. She wanted their life to start with the declarations of their feelings, clearing all the misunderstandings.

Before she could say anything, Sameer picked her up in a bridal style & walked towards the bed. She spoke in a low voice, “Sameer… aap… aap yeh kya kar rahe hai???” He just smiled at her & said huskily, “Sweetheart… just have some patience…” Naina wasn’t sure what was coming up next, as he laid her on bed & tried to kiss her. She wasn’t comfortable with the way Sameer had kept his hands on her exposed thighs, so she pushed him away in reflex. The push was so hard that Sameer fell on the other side of the bed. The anger that he had been holding up till now, finally made its appearance & he got up from the bed angrily.

Naina kept staring at him in shock while he pulled her up & dragged her out from the bed. Holding her arms tightly, he spoke dangerously, “Kyun Naina??? Aaj yun mera tumhare paas aana tumhe accha nahi lag raha??? Yaa fir kisi aur ke saath yeh sab karne mein mazaa aa raha hai??? Bolo naa Naina… Aaj mujhse dur kyun bhaag rahi ho, hamesha se toh tum mere paas sone ke bahaane dhoondti thi, toh fir aaj achaanak mera tumhe choona kyun bardaasht nahi ho raha?”

Naina was shocked with his words. What did he mean by, ‘Yaa fir kisi aur ke saath yeh sab karne mein mazaa aa raha hai???’ She replied softly calming her nerves, “Sameer… aap… aap… yeh kya keh rahe hai??? Aap… aap aisa kyun bol rahe hai??? Maine… maine aisa kya kiya hai Sameer, jo aap… aap mujhse aise baat kar rahe hai?”

Sameer chuckled, “Achha tum nahi jaanti ki tumne kya kiya hai? Tum pooch rahi ho, ki tumne kya kiya hai??? Thik hai… ab main jo bhi poochunga uska sach sach jawaab dena Naina.” She stood frozen hearing his words. Her eyes had already misted but she didn’t dare to cry, not today… She won’t cry in front of him today… She nodded & he continued.

Sameer asked, “Toh bolo Naina… tum aaj shaam kahaan thi???” Naina shivered hearing his cold tone, she knew he was furious & somehow, she felt that he already knew where she was. She replied slowly, “Main… Main NGO gayi thi…” He continued, “Kiske saath???” Naina closed her eyes & then opened them after a few seconds, “Kabir… Kabir ke saath gayi thi.”

“Aur kya hua wahaan NGO mein???”, Sameer asked her meeting her gaze. Naina was in a fix. What should she reply now? She had promised Kabir that she won’t tell anyone about him & Nisha till he would announce it himself. Turning around, Naina replied, “Hum kaam kar rahe the Sameer…”

Sameer laughed & made her turn to face him. “Jhooth… Naina… tum jhooth bol rahi ho. Wahaan koi kaam waam nahi ho raha tha, wahaan toh dil ki baatein ki jaa rahi thi. Ek dusre se pyaar mohabbat ka izhaar kiya jaa raha tha… Kyun??? Main sach keh raha hun naa Naina??? Bolo… bolo main jhooth bol raha hun kya? Bolo Naina???”, he yelled making her shiver again.

Holding her by her shoulders, he continued, “Maine apni aankhon ke saamne yeh sab hote hue dekha hai Naina, aur tum keh rahi ho ki tum dono kaam kar rahe the. Maine suna kaise Kabir ne tumhe propose kiya aur kaise tumne usse ‘I Love you Kabir’ bola… Main andha yaa behra nahi hun Naina… jo itna sab dekhne aur sunne ke baad bhi yeh maan lun ki tum dono kaam kar rahe the.”

Leaving her shoulders, he walked towards the cupboard & opened it. He brought out the bag which had jewellery & threw it in front of her. “Yeh sab kya hai? Yeh sab maine toh banaane nahi diya tha aur jahaan tak mujhe pataa hai tumne bhi yeh sab nahi banvaaya tha. Ab batao yeh bag mere cupboard mein kya kar rahi hai? Kisne rakha aur kyun rakha?”

When Naina didn’t say anything, Sameer opened the pouch which had the pendant of ‘KN’ & showed it to her. “Dekho… Iss mein kya likha hai… Ummm… ‘KN’ likha hai… kya matlab hai iska Naina??? What does this mean???” Naina controlled the tears that were about to flow down her face. She couldn’t answer this, she was bound by a promise. She knew her marriage was at stake yet she kept quite & he continued, “Main bataata hun ki iska kya matlab hai, it stands for Kabir & Naina… Kyun sahi keh raha hun naa main Naina??? It stands for you & Kabir… my wife & my so-called friend.”

Before Naina could deny it, he sat down on his knees & cried. Naina hadn’t expected any of this. As she tried to hold him, he pushed her away & said, “Don’t you dare touch me Naina Agarwal… Don’t you dare…” She stood rooted to her spot as his words registered in her mind. She whispered to herself, ‘Naina Agarwal…’

Wiping his tears, he continued, “Maine tum par bharosa kiya tha Naina… I trusted you & you did this??? You betrayed me??? You betrayed me for that Kabir??? How could you Naina??? How could you do this to me??? Mujhe lagaa tha ki tum mujhse pyaar karti ho. Maine suna tha uss raat San Francisco mein jab tumhe apne dil ki baat mujhse ki thi. Main so nahi raha tha tab Naina, main jaag raha tha aur maine tumhara ‘I Love you Sameer’, suna tha… aur main khush tha yeh jaankar ki meri wife mujhse itna pyaar karti hai ki mere liye apni jaan tak dene ko ready hai. Par aaj mera wohh bhram bhi toot gaya Naina. Tumne uss raat jhooth bola tha ki tum mujhse pyaar karti ho, agar pyaar karti toh wohh I Love You tum Kabir ko nahi kehti.”

“Jaanti ho Naina… main kitna khush tha aaj. Main jaldi ghar aaya tha aaj bhi tumhe surprise dene. Tumhare liye red saree laaya tha, jo… jo tum kal pehenti… hamari first wedding anniversary ki party mein. Main hi paagal hun jo tumhari asliyat nahi dekh paaya aur socha ki tum mujhse pyaar karti ho. Main hi paagal hun jo kal firse tumhare saath shaadi karne waala tha aur hamari shaadi sahi maayno mein aage badhaana chaahta tha… Main hi paagal hun Naina ki main tumse pyaar karne lagaa tha… haannn Naina… main tumse pyaar karne lagaa tha… par aaj tumne apne dil mein kisi aur ko wohh jagah de di, uss Kabir ko tumne apne dil mein jagah de di Naina...”

Naina couldn’t believe her ears. Did he say that he loved her & wanted to give her & their marriage a chance? He loved her? Her husband loved her? Her Sameer loved her? She was more than happy but his next words took away her happiness in a flash. He doubted her & Kabir? No… he was misunderstanding everything. She tried her best to tell him that it wasn’t what he thought. It wasn’t true at all, but he wasn’t listening.

“Jaanta hun ek saal pehle maine tumhare saath bohot galat kiya tha aur uska pachtaava mujhe aaj bhi hai… par tumne… tumne kya kiya Naina??? Mere saath rehkar mere friend ke saath rangraliya manaa rahi ho? Ek baar keh deti Naina ki tumhe Kabir pasand hai toh main khud tumhe uske paas chod aata, tum dono ki shaadi main khud karvaata. Par tumne mere peeth peeche yeh sab kiya Naina? Mujhe aur Nanu ko dhokhaa diya, hamara vishwaas toda? How could you betray me Naina when you’re still married to me?”

Naina finally broke her silence, “Sameer… aap… aap galat samajh rahe hai… wohh aapne jo dekha aur suna wohh sach nahi hai…” Sameer laughed again, “Ab bhi jhooth hi bologi Naina? Arey abhi toh accept kar lo naa Naina… Maine sab apni aankhon ke saamne hote hue dekha, fir bhi tum keh rahi ki wohh sab sach nahi hai. Kabir ki toh bohot pehle se hi tum par nazar thi. Mujhse kahaa tha usne ki ek saal baad Naina meri biwi hogi… aaj hamari shaadi ko ek saal ho gaya. Toh ab bolo Naina… kya ab bhi yahi kahogi ki sab jhooth hai, maine jo dekha aur sunaa wohh sab jhooth hai… arey bolo naa…”

Without giving a chance to her, Sameer continued, “Naina… accha hua maine aaj hi sab dekh liya, at least main ab se kisi par vishwaas nahi karunga, kabhi pyaar nahi karunga Naina… kabhi pyaar nahi karunga… Yeh sab pyaar vyaar kuch nahi hota…” Taking a step towards her, he asked, “Waise mujhe yeh batao ki yeh sab kab se chal raha hai huh? Main London gaya tab se yaa uske pehle se hi chal raha hai yeh sab?”

Sameer’s ego & heart was hurt so badly that he didn’t know that he was crossing his lines with his wife. He asked, “Waise maanna padega Naina, tumne kya ladka choona hai… Best entrepreneur of the year jeeta tha naa usne… Mujhe nahi pataa tha ki tumhe aise awards jeetne waalon se jhatse pyaar ho jaata hai. Waise main tumhe bataa dun ki tumhari choice kaafi acchi hai Naina… ekdum ameer hai Kabir… mujhse bhi jyaada…”

Closing the distance between them, he lowered his voice, “Accha yeh batao, ki aaj I Love You kehne ke baad tum dono ne kiss kiya naa yaa fir sab kuch hi kar liya? Mujhse bhi accha kiss karta hai kya Kabir??? Bolo Naina… Kaisa lagaa Kabir kaa…” Naina didn’t wait a second for his sentence to finish & she slapped him hard on his right cheek. He gritted his teeth in anger & held her arms tightly, “Tum jaisi ladkiyon ko sirf paison se pyaar hota hai Naina, jab pataa chala ki Kabir mujhse bhi jyaada ameer hai toh chal di uske saath. Jab se London se aaya hun tab se jhooth par jhooth bole jaa rahi ho tum, jab dekho tab tum Kabir ke saath baahar jaati ho. Maine koi galti nahi ki thi pehle bhi, maine sahi samjha tha Naina… tum characterless aur gold-digger hi ho. Aaj meri aankhon par se patti hatt gayi Naina, jo tumne baandh rakhi thi. Tumhara yeh acche hone ka naatak ab khatam hua Ms Naina Agarwal… Accha hi hua ki maine tumse wohh agreements aur divorce papers pehle hi sign karwa liye the. Tum meri biwi bann hi nahi sakti, tum uss laayak ho hi nahi Ms Naina Agarwal… Tum meri kya kisiki wife banne ke laayak nahi ho. Main aaj se… abhi se tumse meri shaadi todta hun Naina Agarwal… You’re free to go to Kabir or any other person for that matter, I don’t really care anymore… You will always be a gold-digger & characterless person for me… Tum bhi unhi ladkiyon ki jaisi nikli jo hamesha paison ke aage peeche ghoomti hai. Tum ek number ki…”

Before he could complete his sentence, Naina pushed him a little & slapped him again & said, “Bas… Bas bohot hua Mr Sameer Maheshwari… ab ek aur shabd nahi… jitna bolna tha utna aapne bol diya, ab aur nahi… ab main aur nahi sunn sakti… haannn… main pyaar karti hun aapse aur wohh bhi hamari shaadi se pehle se, par aap nahi samjhenge, kyunki aapko abhi bhi yahi lagega ki main jhooth bol rahi hun. Aur kya kahaa aapne ki aap mujhse pyaar karte hai??? Pyaar ka matlab bhi jaante hai aap Sameer??? Nahi… nahi jaante… aur main koi gyaan nahii dungi aapko isspar, kyunki jaanti hun ki aapko meri baat samajh nahi aayegi. Agar saccha pyaar karte naa toh mujhe yeh sab nahi bolte, mujhpar vishwaas karte, yun mujhe characterless aur gold-digger nahi kehte? Chodiye… aapko ab main kuch nahi kahungi… aapko jo kehna tha wohh aapne keh diya aur maine sunn liya… aapko jo samajhna hai wohh aap samajhiye, kyunki ab main aapko koi safaai nahi dungi… Jab aap mujhe iss ek saal mein acche se jaan nahi paaye toh ab mere kehne pe kya samjhenge Sameer… And Thank You… aapne mujhe yaad dila diya ki main kaun hun… meri aaukaad mujhe yaad dila di… Wohhh agreements aur divorce papers toh maine already sign kar diye the, aur kuch bacha hai jo reh gaya ho toh mujhe de dijiye, main wohh bhi sign kar deti hun.”

“It’s over Naina… sab… sab khatam ho gaya hamare beech… Thank you Naina aaj tumne bohot accha gift diya hai, jo main hamesha hamesha yaad rakhunga. Pehle mujhe lagta tha ki maine tumhe bohot galat samjha tha, par ab lagta hai ki meri jo raai tumhare baare mein pehle thi, wohi sahi thi… Tum iss shaadi mein rehkar meri nahi ho paayi, ab dekhta hun ki tum Kabir ke saath kab rak rahogi, dusra ameer ladka dekhogi toh usse bhi chod dogi, hai naa??? Yahi plan hai naa tumhara???”

Naina was too hurt to reply & say anymore, so she walked past him towards the washroom to change her dress. Sameer rubbed his face as he saw her leave & picked up his change of clothes & left towards the study room. He didn’t want to spend the night with her & see her face anymore.

As Naina heard the loud bang of their room’s door, she finally let her tears flow. She sat down on the bathroom floor & sobbed her heart out. How did all this happen? She was happy just a few hours ago & was about to confess her feelings to Sameer. But nothing happened as she had imagined. She cried & wailed feeling sorry for herself.

After half an hour of crying, she changed her dress. She picked up her black dress & threw it away in the dustbin. She didn’t want the reminder of what happened tonight. Washing her face, she moved outside to find her room empty. Her eyes moved throughout the room where still all the decorations were present. Her eyes welled up again & she walked towards the couch. She sat there immobile for a few seconds & all the flashbacks of his words came back again. Each & every word that he said had pricked her heart immensely. Her misty gaze fall on her hand bag & she pulled out the diary from her bag.

She started writing,

Diary… aaj nahi poochungi tum kaisi ho…

Tumhe yeh bataana hai ki main thik nahi hun…

Aaj Sameer aur meri shaadi ki pehli saalgiraah hai aur tum jaanti ho kya hua?

Aaj Sameer ne kahaa ki wohh mujhse pyaar karne lage the aur mujhse fir se shaadi karna chaahte the…

Haaannn… The…

Diary… unhone aaj hamari shaadi ki saalgiraah par hamara rishta hi tod diya… yeh shaadi khatam kar di… jiska hamesha se mujhe darr tha ki kya hoga aaj ke din aur dekho… mera darr sach saabit ho gaya… Sameer ne mujhe chod diya… mujhe chod diya… mere pyaar ko thukra diya Diary… mujhe aur mere dil ko hamesha hamesha ke liye tod diya…

Ab main kaise jee paaungi??? Unke bagair rehne ka kabhi socha hi nahi tha…

Par ab jab hamara rishta hi nahi raha toh main yahaan unke saath nahi rek sakti…

Naa iss kamre mein… naa iss ghar mein…

Jaanti hun Nanaji ko accha nahi lagega, par main nahi reh paaungi yahaan…

Hamare Nanaji ne hamari shaadi karvaane ka vaada kiya tha, iss shaadi ko nibhaane ka nahi… waise bhi shaadi dono taraf se nibhaayi jaati hai, main akeli isse kab tak akele khinch paaungi… mujhse nahi hoga yeh sab… mujhe yahaan se jaana hoga… yahi sahi hai…

Jab rishta hi nahi raha toh ab mera koi hakk hi nahi banta iss ghar mein rehne ka…

Unhone ek baar bhi mujhpar vishwaas nahi kiya, yeh nahi socha ki main yeh sab kaise sunn paaungi… ek hi jhatke mein keh diya ki its over… hamari shaadi khatam…

Diary… tum toh jaanti ho naa ki main kitna pyaar karti hun Sameer se…

Main Kabir ke baare mein aisa soch hi nahi sakti… wohh bas mera dost hai aur main uski help kar rahi hun… Kabir ki promise mein aisi bandhi hun ki main Sameer se sach bhi nahi keh saki…

Ek pal lagaa ki main sab sach bataa deti hun… par fir lagaa kyun… kyun bataun Sameer ko sach jab unhe mujhpar bharosa hi nahi hai… Agar sach bataa bhi deti toh kya wohh yakeen karte mujhpar… nahi… nahi karte mujhpar yakeen…

Sameer ko lagta hai ki main sirf paison ki laalchi hun, isliye maine Kabir se affair kiya…

Diary… aaj Sameer ne yeh sab kehkar mujhe bohot hurt kiya hai… mujhe poori tarah tod diya hai… mere pyaar par sawaal uthaaye hai…

Pehle mujhe lagta tha ki Sameer unke past ki wajah se kisi par trust nahi kar paate… aur shaayad yahi sach bhi hai…

Par bas ab aur nahi… maine hamesha unki khushi ke liye sab kuch kiya hai… yahaan tak ki maine apni self-respect unke liye, unke pyaar ke liye hamesha taak par rakhi hai… par ab nahi… ab aur nahi… ab main yeh nahi sunn sakti… har baar Sameer mujhe characterless aur gold-digger nahi keh sakte…

Aaj unhone mujhe unn agreements aur divorce papers ki yaad bhi dila di…

Mujhe lagaa tha ki yeh sab ab koi maayne nahi rakhega, par nahi… maine galat socha tha…

Sameer ki soch kabhi nahi badlegi…

Galat kahaa unhone ki unhe mujhse pyaar ho gaya hai... agar sach mein pyaar hota toh wohh mujhe samajhte… mere pyaar ko samajhte…

Sameer ne aaj jo bhi kiya uske baad bhi main hamesha unse pyaar karti rahungi, aakhir wohh mera pehla pyaar jo hai…

Bhale hi unhone yeh shaadi tod di ho, par main… main…

The tears started flowing from her eyes again & she didn’t stop them at all. After few minutes, when her tears & sobs stopped. She wrote one last line…

I Love You Sameer… I will always love you… You will be the only one for me Sameer… Now & Forever…

Sameer paced in the study room as he remembered what all he had said to Naina… He didn’t want to hurt her but the moment he saw her in that black dress, he was beyond angry. All the flashes of Kabir & Naina together had flashed back in his mind & he had lashed out. He was too hurt to comprehend what all he had said to her in his rage. But now, when he remembered his own words, he asked himself if he had crossed his line tonight. But he wasn’t thinking straight. “Maine jo bhi kahaa aur kiya… wohh sahi hi tha… Naina meri wife hone ke baawajud mere hi dost ke saath ghoom rahi thi, toh main kaise bardaasht karta? Maine koi line cross nahi ki hai… Jab Naina mujhse pyaar karti hi nahi hai toh fir yeh shaadi ka kya matlab? Main kal hi Nanu se baat karunga aur hamara rishta poori tarah se tod dunga. Naina ne jo kiya uske liye main kabhi usse maaf nahi karunga.” When he got tired of pacing the study room, he sat down on the leather couch & closed his eyes. He didn’t know when he drifted to sleep with thoughts of Kabir & Naina…

Naina closed her diary & kept it on the bedside table, but it fell down & a letter caught her attention… After reading the letter, she made up her mind. She kept the letter in the diary again & kept in on the bedside table. It again fell down & this time she didn’t notice it at all… Quickly wiping her face, she started packing her bag. She packed only those clothes that she had bought with her hard-earned money. She left all the dresses & sarees that Sameer had gifted her in the cupboard only. She didn’t want anything that he had gifted her. Her eyes fell on the bag which Sameer had brought for her today, but she didn’t dare to open it. She kept the mobile & laptop that Sameer had gifted her on the table near the couch.

Closing her eyes, she replayed all the beautiful memories that she had spent in this room, in his house. Calming down, she collected all her books & packed them in another bag. All the while, she kept crying silently & cursed her fate. Like Sameer, she too believed that she wasn’t meant to be loved, so everyone left her alone… her parents… her Nanaji & now even Sameer…

As the clock struck four in the morning, she glanced at the room one last time & left with her two bags… the same bags that she had brought when she had come to Maheshwari Mansion with Nanu. She knew that Sameer must be sleeping in the study room, so her feet automatically moved in that direction. She stopped at the door & thought, “Jaane se pehle ek baar main unhe dekh leti hun…” Before she opened the door, she stopped, “Nahi… agar maine abhi Sameer ko dekha toh main jaa nahi paaungi… mujhe yahaan se jaana hoga… Sameer se dur… unki zindagi se dur… bohot dur…”

Wiping her face, she picked up her bags again & walked downstairs. She stood in the living room & memorised each & everything for one last time… This was her home for the past one year & now, she was finally leaving everything behind… her home, her love, her life… to make a new one…

How was the update???

I know you all will not be happy with how the story has turned out to be…

Naina & Sameer both were wrong…

Naina was trying to fulfil her promise to Kabir while Sameer lost all his trust on her…

Naina had a choice to clear all his misunderstandings, yet she didn’t do it…

Sameer assumed everything on his own about Kabir’s & Naina’s relationship without giving her a chance to explain.

Whatever happened was meant to happen…

There shouldn’t have been any secrets between the couple which was the main reason for all this misunderstanding.

Love just doesn’t mean staying together, it also means the couple should trust each other unconditionally, there should be transparency in their relationship. Both of them have to be faithful to each other… Only love isn’t enough for a relationship… it should have trust, faith, communication & commitment…

Let’s see what happens ahead…

So, what do you think will happen next???

Where will Naina go???

Will Sameer regret whatever he said to her when the truth will unfold???

Finally, this story had completed half century & I’m super super happy about it…

Thank you each & everyone for showering your precious love on my story…

I hope you will continue the same ahead too…

And finally, I want to say that the story is headed towards one of my favourite parts…

I’m sure that you will like the upcoming updates too when Sameer will come to know the truth & how his way to redemption will start…

Next update on next Sunday…

Till then, take care & stay safe…

With Lots of Love,

Daksha…❤️
