How are Trans women actual women? They are men who feel like they are women or get surgeries to look like a woman. But no, they aren't actual women. Same goes for Trans men.

that’s a very transphobic take !!
when trans ppl say that trans women means women and trans men means men then that’s how it is .. cis ppl have no right to define or tell them how to feel or identify themselves ..
I agree that some jokes are really bad in taste
I also agree with you that making a "just for laughs" film about a Transwomen who hid her sexuality from her husband until marriage, MIGHT send a very wrong message that people become trans just to lure men/women into marrying them (This is actually the worst possible way to portray transsexuality onscreen)
In a country where Trans people are barely recognized & has high suicide rates as majority of them are not even lucky to transition or communicate to their families about how they feel.... marrying someone after transition is like a FAR FAR FAR dream of the community.
Adah Sharma's tweet screams of ignorance & insensitivity🤢 I regret praising & defending her yesterday lol.
BUT I also believe that trailers could be misleading, & I hope the ultimate messaging is good. There's no point on boycotting everything and accusing people of "Transphobic", when majority people do not even know what "being trans" even means.
Expecting the world to suddenly accept everything is wrong. It's going to be slow burn. And when any change is introduced to the society in a reasonable way, the society accepts it change with open arms. (at least a good chunk of it)
My only advice to the audience would be to watch the series with an open mind, and start looking at people as "human beings" first, regardless of their gender/sexuality/orientation. 👍🏼

How is that transphobic? I am just speaking factually and medically ~ a woman cannot become a man and a man cannot become a woman. A man or a trans man can only try to mimic my body or experiences, but they cant claim to be a women because they are not. Just like how I cant claim to be intersex or identify as a hijra just cuz I feel like it because that would be taking away from the actual experiences of the hijra people.

agree with almost everything you said but it’s already 2020 and when one makes a movie about sensitive topics like story of a trans women they should really do some research on what being trans means .. it’s basic humanity to accept people as they are and this movie can actually harm trans community more then doing good if it has jokes like this and if the lead actress says stuff like I play man ..
there’s already lots of transphobia in this country and movies and jokes like this adds more to it ..

I am not asking transpeople to have any less rights or respect that I do. I, as a woman, do not think a trans person can claim to be a woman because the reality is that they are not. They have not lived or experienced the life and pains and trials and tribulations of a woman. It's just a simple fact, nothing to be offended about.
Imagine if I go around claiming I'm a man or a hijra just cuz I feel like it. That's just so disrespectful to the men and hijra community out there.
