Why's Rohit quitting TV?

Rohit Roy is nervous about his big move, yet he's decided to quit television for Bollywood

For Rohit Roy 2008 will prove to be a challenging year. The actor has decided to quit TV industry and concentrate on his career in films. Rohit who currently plays Rahul Lamba in Virasat on Star Plus says, "I have decided to quit television. I have been thinking about it for a while and I have finally made my decision." Rohit who has four films on hand feels that he has little to explore on TV. "I am not leaving TV for movies but I am taking this step because I have done everything I could do on TV. I have done soaps, hosted shows and even participated in a reality show," say Rohit.
Actors who have previously left TV to join movies have often had to return to TV as they couldn't make it big, isn't Rohit worried about that. "Honestly, I am scared. But TV has become a safety net and until I don't pull it away I won't push myself to work harder. But I am not scared of failure because I know I'll give it my best shot," he says. Rohit says wife Manasi too is supportive of his decision. "When I told her about quitting, she was absolutely ok with it," says Rohit. Rohit is currently working in Delhi Heights, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Alibaug and Dus Kahaniya. Rohit, who's been among the few actors who have juggled both TV and films for many years. "I have loved both the mediums, but it's time to move on. I think complacency creeps in. One becomes comfortable with the whole scenario and doesn't want to move out of ones comfort zone. I want to get away from the image as the 'angry young man of TV'," he laughs.
Speaking about his future plans the actor admits that he will plunge into production and direction too. "But not any time soon. Manasi is already looking after our production house and I hope she'll offer me some work," he adds.
