Time up: A still from Viraasat
Soon after Shah Rukh Khan signed in on KBC, the channel has decided to go in for a lot of re-shuffling of other shows. And one of the immediate casualties would be Viraasat. According to Star's creative head Shailja Kejriwal, "Viraasat would be one of the shows, that has to go, I guess… at least for 13 weeks when KBC starts. Whether it comes back or not, remains to be seen. I agree the show wasn't a success as we thought it would be."
Rohit Roy, one of the lead actors in the show refused to consider the possibility that Viraasat going off air. While Viraasat is getting ready to wind up, Rohit sounds optimistic. "Until I'm officially told about the closure, I'll give my best to the show. It's the only soap I've been acting in and I don't want to be jobless again," he says. It all depends upon Mr Shah Rukh Khan. We're at his mercy," he laughs.
Rohit adds, "In fact, in the next two months (until KBC starts) my track is going to undergo a sea change. I'll be more of an angry young man, the way I had been projected in serials like Swabhimaan and Sarkarrr."
What about stories of endless fracas among the marquee names in Viraasat? "You mean Amarr Upadhyay, Aman Verma and I being constantly at war? Not true! It was the nature of our characters to seem belligerent, which spilled over as gossips, I guess," says Rohit.
Talking more about his female co-stars, Rohit says, "In fact Sangeeta and Nikki Aneja are my two favourite co-stars from the industry. Sangeeta is an angel. She's an Arian just like me and we get along like a house on fire."

Bollywood dreams: Amarr Upadhyay
Amarr Upadhyay is on refusing spree these days. He has recently turned down two of Sony's shows where he was to be cast alongside Aamna Sharif. He has also refused Tony and Deeya Singh's Jeete Hai Kiske Liye opposite Renuka Shahane.
When contacted Amarr Upadhyay reluctantly confirmed the news. "Yes I was approached to play the lead roles in both these soaps but I was not very keen on doing them as I am busy with other projects. My film Mumbai.com is all set to go on the floors by February and I am very happy with the way my show Virasaat is shaping up. I always wanted to do one show at a time. My character of Kunal Kharbanda is getting me positive feedback, I have always wanted this admiration", he said.
Amarr adds, "I am also in the process of planning a show with Sony under my banner Friday Films. Sandiip Sikcand is a great guy and has always been very helpful. I would have loved to do both the shows for Sandiip but I would rather produce a show with Sony than act in one. I have also signed a film with one of the top banners but I can't talk about it till the film is announced officially. Also, my Bhojpuri film with Udit Narayan Kab Kahba Tu I Love You's music has just been released. I am looking forward to this film."
Finally Amarr says, "Both the shows that I was offered by Sony are great and I wish them the best of luck. However, I am now concentrating on my films and production as all my energies are directed towards giving Sony a good show. The rest can wait for the the time being."
