Never Again!

This is the last time you will see Rohit Roy with a drink in his hand. (So he says.) Does that make him a dull boy?

A popular face on the page 3 circuit, actor Rohit Roy is missing in action these days. Apparently Rohit has now decided to abstain from late night parties, booze and smoking. Says Rohit, "I think I have done it all, and don't have the appetite for it any more. There was a time when I didn't have much work and could find the time for parties. Now I barely have the time, or inclinations to socialise."

So what has prompted him to turn into a good boy? Rohit still cringes when he recalls the day he got embarrassingly drunk at a party. "Usually, I don't indulge in heavy drinking. But that day, I drank a couple of extra pegs… Yet I had to shoot the next day. I ended up reporting on the sets with puffy eyes and looking extremely tired. Which, I thought was the worst thing that can happen to an actor. Late night parities and drinking start showing on your face, after a point of time. That's when I vowed that I would never drink or smoke again. I can't let my producers suffer because of my night life," he says.

Rohit admits that his wife Mansi helped him to give up alcohol. "Yes, I've given up alcohol. As for smoking, I wasn't really an addicted smoker but now and then I used to smoke a cigar. But I've given up that too. Now I just want to look after my health. I've become very serious about my work-outs too."

He has also changed his food habits. "My wife is taking good care of my diet as well," he says. "We've worked out a new diet plan for me."

Right now, Rohit is busy with Star Plus's Viraasat. Besides which he is also shooting for two films, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Delhi Heights. And then there is his new role as a compere for Sony's Extraa Innings. "I've always been a cricket buff. So when Sony approached me for Extraa Innings, I knew that I had to do it. I hope I can do justice to it."

New show, new lifestyle and new ambitions… It looks like Rohit is all set to start life afresh.
