To celebrate the spirit of Navratri this year, the nach gana and dandiya raas will have an additional spunk! The nine day festivities will feature television celebrities who will add a special touch to the festive season. And for those who prefer to spend time at home, the television channels have shows choc-a-bloc during Navratri to keep you going.
Celebrity fusion dandiya: Organised by Balaji, the nine day festivity will rope all the popular television stars at the Andheri Sports Complex.
The show boasts Nitin Bali and Sharon Prabhakar who will be joined each evening by other artists including 'Zee SaReGaMa Challenge 2005' winners Debojit and Himani; 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' winners Aishwarya and Ujjaini. Apart from this, the star attractions will see the likes of Ishaa Koppikar, Neha Dhupia, Kim Sharma, Aarti Chhabria and Rohit Roy.
Television mania: Most of the soaps on television have their shows centred on Navratri. 'Dhol Baje Re' - a special show on Navratri which has been shot with popular television stars like Karishma Tanna, Urvashi Dholakia, Sandeep Acharya, Amit Jain, Sudeepa Singh, Kashmera Shah and others will be on air on September 30. 'Jhalak Dikhhla will also have 'dandiya' as the theme next week.
Palash Sen, lead singer of the band 'Euphoria' will be part of jury with Sachin Pilgoankar and Farida Jalal on 'Mera Star Superstar.
As the entire country celebrates the festival season, NDTV will travel to different cities to share the colour, rituals, dances and food of India's festival season with special reports.
Garba queen Falguni Pathak will put up a rare guest appearance for a special episode on the weekend social drama 'Baa Bahoo Aur Baby' (Star Plus).
The NRI connection: Most television stars get invited to the US for by the Indian community to be part of the nine day Navratri festival. This year, Arzoo Govitrikar, Kanchi Kaul and Maaninee Misshra will be participating in the festivities abroad. Kanchi will be in USA and Canada for Navratri.
