It is partition story.

Bano's family are Muslims in Ludhiana.

Bano dreams of a good Pakistan which will be Islamic state and kind of paradise as promised by her boyfriend But Ludhiana was in India

So people of this area(Hindus and Sikhs) attack her family and kill everyone including her brother who was anti partition and Gandhiwaadi. His two best friends then attack Bano. But when her mother pleads one reminding how he was like a son to her, he has a change in heart. He protects Bano from the other friend(whose name is Ram) and escorts them to a group migrating to Pakistan. They walk for hours. All the wells in way was poisoned by Hindus so they couldn't even drink water

While in transit they are again attacked by mob where her mother dies but she somehow survives.

Later she is found by a good Sikh who gets her treated. Later he takes her to another bus to Pakistan. This is again attacked by a mob of Sikhs

When one Sikh Banta was about to kill her, she shouts if this is what his Gurus would have wanted and she will ask it when she goes to heaven. Then she faints

Banta takes her home and gets her treated. But he actually wants to marry her. He initially behaves like he is a good man and will take her to Pakistan once the madness is over.

One she goes to a Gurudwara and Banta's mother is happy thinking she might become a Sikh, but she performs Namaz in there. All get angered. Later she understands by a CD neighbour that this family was lying. They have no intention of taking her to Pakistan. In fact unlike what Banta had told her, no one from their family was killed in Pakistan. She then questions Banta, who tells that he wanted her, he tried to behave good to she willingly agrees but now he is giving up the act. He also tells he never posted any of her letters to Pakistan to her boyfriend.

Now Banta forcefully marries Bano and has a son. For 5 years she lives a life of hell. One day she gets a chance so she kills Banta and by the help of this same neighbour (who earlier had told her), she escapes to Pakistan with her son but still she hates her son as he reminds her of Banta and India.

In Pakistan she finds out that Pakistan is nowhere near to the Islamic paradise she expected it to be and get disillusioned (many episodes there, like different education system for rich and poor, Muslims taking dowry from women's family, rich people focussing on English and ignoring Urdu and the Islamic teachings, dancing girls invited for marriages can't explain all) Later a man she trusted, tries to r**e her. She feels that it's Banta in front of her who has come here to make Pakistan Napak. She kills this man.

Later she blames her boyfriend for giving her a false hope of Pakistan and gets mad..

There is a sub plot where Her boyfriend(Fawad's character forgot the name) after waiting for her years thinks she has died so agreed to marry Rabia. When Bano returns, he is in dilema, but even his mother doesn't want Bano to be married to her son. Rabia is very good girl and even takes care of Bano's son(as Bano ignores him). Bano getting to know about this had left his house and was staying with another good family who tried to get her married to her Boyfriend (Rabia too supported this) on the wedding day of Rabia and Fawad, but exactly on the wedding day this r**e attack thing happens and she reaches out to the venue of marriage to blame Fawad.

At last it is shown that Bano had got insane, Rabia and Fawad married and adopted Bano's son..

The ending as I said was much more brutal in the novel. They somehow made it comparatively happy ending

I read the synopsis of this show nd was utterly displeased and shocked! U said that they aired this in India and no objection was raised? I might as well reconsider watching Barzakh now..

Like look at Gadar and Raazi. Aisa kabhi nahi dikhaya gaya. Infact Raazi me to unko understanding and sympathetic dikhaya hai. SitaRamam me bhi.

Exactly audiences came to sympathize with Iqbal's character in Raazi but it was still banned for 'portrayal of Pakistan in a negative light'

Oh you should watch some Pakistani movies, they show like Hindus are monsters, and any Hindu who isn't so, is waiting for a chance to convert to Islam.

There was a movie where a girl (named Seeta) was abducted by Muslim Jihadis. While staying with them she realises how good they are. Then her father comes along with military to get her released and she starting accusing her father for always sowing seeds of hatred into her and that she should have been born a Muslim instead. She immediately converts to Islam then and there and refuses to return to her father

There is a Pakistani actor Shan Shahid, he makes so many anti Hindu movies(note it not Anti India, but anti Hindu) that I can't even say, check his filmography and you will know the hatred they have for us .

Barzakh to dekhna aur naa dekhna ek hi baat hai kyunki aadhi chize sar ke upar se jaati hai. When it's second episode was going on, it was going as a background sound as i was just scrolling through reels in my phn and watching it selectively

Coming to dastaan...why was it allowed? No idea...since Indians are shown as villains. That time pakistani shows and artists were booming in india thnx to Zee zindagi channel...till uri attack happened and ban on Pak artist took place. Ab vo kab lift hua pata nai...
