Well I would not say dowry is irrelevant..It is still very much relevant...

But the thing is it is now mostly called gifts..dahej word mostly koi use hi nahi karta..soo it is understandable that people didn't warm up to watch it on-screen.. Though I have not seen a single episode of it....but abhi Sony channel ka woh charm nahi Raha.....so I don't think koi innovation hoga execution me.....

And there is another counter to it in villages in my state where people kidnap wealthy groom (especially those who have govt job) and get them forcefully married to any girl they want. Apparently this started because of Dowry system. People will govt job demanded huge dowry showing just the job. Even those who just cleared exams would boast it.

I think I've watched a show named bhagyavidhata in colors many years back. It was based on the concept of groom abduction and getting them married on gunpoint to the girl. It's story was also set in motihari, Bihar.

Dowry do happen no doubt....but as a fictional theme it is little irrelevant or outdated (whichever is the correct word)

Since covid, Sony lost its charm. It's shows used to be relatable and less soapish. I think it's katha ankahee which was most talked about show in recent years from Sony channel.

On the topic of connect with Masses, Nimki Mukhiya on Star Bharat was unreal. I would say no show has been able to show the absolute reality of how things works in Bihar and how is the social behaviour. Season 1 was a riot. In season 2 Nimki becomes Vidhayak and show goes down.

Also Nimki was one of the best ever FL, never seen someone so confident and kind of obsessed with herself. It was so good.
