Part 12
The Rain
She rewarded him with a graceful smile on her lips as he ate quietly... opening his mouth automatically once done chewing... watching him eat was a new satisfaction which rose her heartbeats... her cheeks was soon going to ache for how warm it got and stretched it was... sometimes it didn't take a lot to fall for someone for her it might have took a few morsel and adamant guy who ate quietly inspite of looking at her angrily
"I never knew you worked the soil" She said smiling at him in pride.. he knew girls dig for the rich side of him.. it was the first time there was one who was giving him the mersmerized look at learning he was into farming
He shallowed the last piece of paratha... forgetting she forced fed him and answered "It sooths me" A cold and brief answer but she still didn't need further explanation
"I know there's something about being in the nature... knowing little grains can turn into crops and feed soo many people" there was nothing fake in the glow her face provide while talking about what pleased him.. if anything she showed why was he actually attracted towards her
"Want to help me?" He had said before bitting on his tongue... it was a something which came on instict... he wished she'd turn like other girls and say no it'll mess her nails but started grinning happily... her eyes widdened with joy
"Really?????" It was an innocent squeal he couldn't say no to so sighing in defeat he nodded his head in a yes.. walking towards the ground to exactly where he had been working prior to the disturbance
"what should i do?" she asked rubbing her palms against each other looking identical to a mischievious child ... somehow he believed her innocence was what was penetrating his heart and affecting him... it felt like she was unknowingly shifting her vibes to him
"hoe the soil... it helps to get rid of the weeds" he said giving her the hoe.. she was clueless what to do with the tool having never been acquainted to gardening again... her little pouty lips was enough request of help so walking behind her fitting her back against his chest... he took her hands stroking the ground and mummuring indications to her ... while he expected her to listen.. Chakor could only feel his soft breath blowing into her hairs... she was distracted by his heartbeat echoing to her back ... once she freaked out when Vivaan tried to kiss her and she thought she was in love with the guy... but right now standing soo close to Suraj while he was only teaching her how to get rid of weeds... she felt a certain sensation down her spine... blocking her mind were thoughts which told her she wanted his touch... she felt a certain aura which screamed passion emiting from his body and she wanted that ... gulping she tried to focus on his words
Wondering if she was hearing him properly... he made one of the worst decision of that day... by tucking her loose hairs behind her ears.. exposing her bare shoulder to him... he clutched his eyes wishing to back from her before he did something he might regret she asked him to repeat what he said
"So basically you stroke the ground with the hoe and drag it pulling the weeds" he said trying to keep his voice as normal and eyes concentrated on the ground.. she followed his words exactly like he said with a certain desire to make him proud and it worked... she grinned victoriously but then felt a sudden emptiness when he backed from her however it was something she accepted before she ridiculize herself
They had been hoeing the ground ... then plouging.. it was all a new experience for Chakor and she couldn't miss the little glimmer that flickered in his eyes from time to time
It was almost dark when some children passed by waving happily at Suraj... that was the first time she saw him give something other than smirk... it wasn't a smile but it was close to that genuine and beautiful... Chakor wished she had a camera that moment ... she'd capture that moment forever
"you really love this village don't you??" From the moments spent with him this was an already answered question.. so hearing the yes from him wasn't really surprising
"I do... this is that last thing i am attached too and wish to save" He had no idea why he shared it with her but whenever he had shared something with her no matter the situation it felt good
"Save??" She was confused to what danger could this peaceful little village could be facing so the hidden truth which Suraj exposed infront of her took her ground off her feet
"These Innocent Villagers you see.. were once the collateral of my father" he uttered the father title with sheer venom "They would work for almost nothing plus land up in debts ... that bas***d of a man played his last trick by succeeding this village to both me and Vivaan" the more she learnt about his father the more she hated the man but she couldn't understand how Vivaan had a role to play in this? he was merely a businessman
He knew she was confused by this sudden revelation so helping her out of it he answered the unquestioned query "Vivaan is my Cousin Chakor... i sign Suraj Singh Rajvanshi" she inhaled a gush of air heavily letting her brain assimilate the fact that she was left unaware about... she thought he had kidnapped her because Vivaan owed him drugs .. it was all a new story right now
"How can that be?? And if he's your cousin than how does that work to you trying to blackmail him for drugs?" She questioned curiously feeling rather dumb in that span of time
"I didn't want to blackmail him for money Chakor... i wished to blackmail him to sign his share of this village over to me" He explained running his hairs frustratedly in his hairs... everything he did seemed to lead him towards failure "My father's clause was... if Vivaan kills me or i kill Vivaan the village goes to someone else and knowing how my father exploited this villagers i am damn sure the one inheriting it will do the same.. Vivaan isn't thinking about the wellfair... he's eager for the profit ... i told him i'd sign my heritage to him in return of the village but he never agreed for reasons better known to him... i tried very way possible even trying to kidnap you sister who seemed quite a precious possession to him" The more he spoke the further frustrated he got... Chakor didn't doubt his thoughts eversince their last encounter and she wasn't about to start doing it again... she simply smiled at him reassuringly before wrapping her arms around his waist shocking him
"you will be able to do it... with good aim in mind there's nothing which will help you away from your goal" She spoke wishing he'd share the load of his heart more... she had a feeling there was more that was hidden ... he wasn't saying and beating himself to it
He was about to tell her something else when it thundered loudly followed by a sudden heavy rainfall...they shared a frightened glance before running towards the hut .. they didn't realize the time had past ... the only light came from a little lamp which Suraj had now lit... he cursed the rain loud for falling at such an impromtu time.. his angry trail of abuses were broken by the jovial laughters of the girl who triggered his every nerves
"You're abusing the rain as if it will fear you and stop like your spoons do" She taunted mockingly
"Spoons??? My men are my family... they listen to me out of respect not fear" he said getting her to roll her eyes though she couldn't deny it ... they all did respect him
"Damn this rain... why did you have to come up here? Hadn't you been here i'd never be preoccupied by this sudden weather change" He ranted frustratedly indirectly admitting he cared for her... a little shyful smile pulled at her lips at this confession... people said the rain was romantic .. until that date she hadn't believe it... hiding her shyness from him she stuck her hands out feeling the little drops touching her skin and giggling as it tickled her before falling down
Her little act was being watched by Suraj who for the first time since a very long time had his lips tugged upwards... he was smiling at her foolish attics without even realizing it not until she turned watching him from the dim light... a huge smile on her face replicating his ... her eyes capturing that smile in her mind for a forever "You should smile more frequently it suits you" She said making him aware of his smile... causing him to pull a sudden straight face while she frowned... walking towards him... she shook her head in a stubborn no ... pulling his lips upwards with her wet cold fingers "I like you better smiling" ... " you're crazy"He said when she left his lips which kept the smile this time
"I've been told a lot of times by you.. you should try new sentences... like Chakor is cute.. Chakor is kind ...Chakor is intelligent" She raised her eyebrows suggestively at him
"Or Chakor is dellusional" He said bursting her bubbles showing a new side of himself... a side Chakor felt smitten of
She chose not to reply wanting his smile to say... for that she'd accept this little insult...they waited for the rain to pass for another 15 minutes but it started raining harder... Suraj was back to the coldness staring at her while she unbothered continued playing with the droplets when she suddenly yelped causing him to almost falling off the stone he was sitting on
"What happened?" he said approaching him when she pointed towards a little puppy which stayed down a tree shivering... he was fully drenched and seemed sickly
"It's just a dog??" He said as a matter of fact but her face was shadowed with a certain pain for the dog
"it's not just a dog Suraj... it's a puppy it must be few days old. maybe it got away from his mother and now has no place to go" She said feeling her heart breaking for the little poor thing
Her compassion towards an animal somehow made her seemed more attractive to him.. he felt weird but it was a good kind of weird ... leaving him dumbfounded... she ran down the rain to the little puppy
"Oh my little princess... don't be afraid" she extended her arms to the animal who seemed frightened... it nuzzled its nose as if trying to get her scent and placed its paws on Chakor's palm making her smile while Suraj kept on shouting at her to come back... wrapping it in her arms she ran towards the hut fully drenched up and shivering
He removed his jacket in anger " Are you crazy??? Stupid?? You just took off under this heavy rainfall for that???" He scolded placing the jacket around her... his loud tone made the puppy curb in Chakor's arms
"Shhh" she glared at him feeling the sudden comfort of his jacket but still cold ... " Suraj you're scaring him" She said before realizing it was not a he but a she
She was a puzzle to him .. the puppy looked sickly dirty yet she was still cuddling with it... she approached closer to him feeling still shivery making him shake his head in defeat.. wrapping his arms around her covered with his jacket frame.. letting his body heat warm her up
After a few minutes the rain calmed down "Suraj how can we leave her here??" She asked looking at the puppy sorrowfully who looked at her similarly
She was looking at him expectedly how can he turn down that face while he was struggling hard through his attraction towards her "Fine!!!" He said in defeat unable to believe he agreed to that but her happy smile then felt worth for it made his heart feel a certain peace it was unfamiliar with
"See i told you don't be frightened of him... he's sweet" She whispered comfortably to the little puppy not realizing it was audible to Suraj for once he liked having broken the sterotyped villain image
When they reached the mansion instead of walking to his room she rushed to the kitchen "Where are you going??" He asked feeling tired.. he wanted to see her in the room before leaving
"to the kitchen.. to give Sherni some milk" She said caressing the little dog's fur which was yet to be dried
"You'll catch a bad cold Chakor... change yourself first" He chose not to comment on her name given to the dog... but he couldn't help letting her act childish towards her health.. he had no idea why it mattered to him at the first place
"NO! First feed sherni.. she's too weak" She was happy about his concern but the little paw against her palm made her feel worst ... so leaving him behind she walked to the kitchen grabbing a cloth wipping his fur before pouring some milk in a bowl and giving it to the hungry puppy which licked it eagerly
She didn't expect the towel that rubbed her hairs roughly...no one other than Suraj... she stayed still letting him dry her hairs without uttering a single word in reluctance... if anything she couldn't control over her smile and that skip of heartbeat touched by his gesture
"Go and change now... i'll set a space to get her to sleep" He said not wanting her to catch a cold... he was glad she smiled and turned to leave but then she stopped
"are you leaving then??" She asked out of blue making him frown but still answered in a yes watching her go all dejected
"What happened Chakor???" He suddenly felt worried was anyone troubling her in his absence???
She shrugged in despair before leaving the kitchen and his unanswered question.. she wasn't about to ask him to stay because he helped her stay Calm
She had changed into his warm sweatpants and long sleeves shirt... climbing on the bed almost ready to close her eyes when he opened the door
"what happened? is someone troubling you??" He asked in a rush feeling a sudden rage in him
She shook her head sadly before sighing and speaking slowly " These 5 days my sleep paralysis has taken a toll on me... i dunno why but whenever you are here it somehow help me to sleep" She was feeling rather immature for saying that but it was true ... she was feeling stupid now having said that.. he looked at her intently as if weighing the options
"you don't mind me sleeping here??" He asked confirming her statement
"No...i trust you" She mumbled the last bit timidly but it was enough for him... he walked to the washroom freshened up before donning fresh clothes and climbed on the bed keeping a safe distance between them ... he turned facing her... her cheeks had warmed up but her feet still felt cold ... his gaze were empty but somehow it managed to still render her bashful while for him he wasn't able to understand the turmoil in his heart... he had assumed long ago he had control over his feelings and non existent
"Did you go to a doctor for this?" He asked her carefully watching a sullen expression cloud her face
"I did go and they had therapies and all when never really helped... Sleeping pills were an option i don't have here" she said reminding him of that option which was his too.. she hadn't gone through the cabinets in the washroom or else she'd find what she was seeking for.. somehow he was happy she didn't
"you didn't share this with your parents and sister??" He curled his finger in his fist controlling the urge to pull her dejected frame in his arms when she said 'no' ... he was the only one she had shared it... along with feeling happy she trusted him he also felt responsible ... responsible to help her.. soon she closed her eyes sleepily while he kept on looking at her wondering about that accident ... he still remember those disastrous picture.. how did she land there..she seemed way too innocent for clubbing and drinking moreover how did she make it alive and scarless
