The first trailer for 78 managed to incite a debate on SM and to a large extent disappointing viewers who were waiting for a change in the narration. Not me, I stopped at 74 when they showed Ferit happy with Diyar - that was rockbottom for me. A line was crossed given the origins of this couple. It was not devastating nor was it sad, it was just plain nauseating to watch a narrative which imposes on the viewers that the ML is acting out because he is unable to deal with the loss.
The writers coming out and saying this is fate motif shows how tone-deaf the production is about their own series. They needed a separation (Which I believe it is okay) but the way they went about it and going about it, is degrading and insulting to women. Seyran has been always abused right from her childhood. Even though they showed that she ultimately falls in love with Ferit, the story did a very good job of showing masculine toxicity in S1. In the world she lived in, Ferit was like a ray of hope and she saw something good in him. But the story did not cover up the psychological violence she was subjected to. Yes, Seyran hit him and that was domestic violence but both were doing it to each other. But in S2, they again subjected Seyran to mental trauma of watching her husband run after his ex-mistress and kissing her pregnant belly, and then questioned her choice of wanting to separate from him because you know no matter "how much he sleeps with others, he always loves her"!!!! What they factored in strongly during those points was the loyalty that they both had towards each other. That is, if you manage to ignore the disgusting track of Ferit trying to move on with Nevra but failing to do so. But not to worry, he was successfully able to in S3 so happy news for Ferit lovers. I always said Seyran forgave him too easily and hoped there would be some interesting in S3 for her to question this.
But no, we are going to see a track where Seyran will be physically abused by her husband (because Seyran will always only get psychotic guys, the only good guy she gets is Ferit. There are apparently no good men left in Istanbul.). We will see that because she dared to make a choice of moving on after watching the so called great love of her life humping women on the roofs of Istanbul, she "DESERVES" it. Some women are crazy. and we question why women empowerment never works. When you have women who have been indoctrinated and sold into the idea of saviour complex, and to add to it that impression it always comes in toxic forms and all the woman needs to do is save the man from his demons and he will protect her, there will never be true empowerment.
- Ferit psychologically harassed her before realising he was at fault and his toxic nature
- Tarik traumatised her by threatening to kill her loved ones
- Akin trapped her and poured acid on her for one while day
- But this is not enough, Seyran deserves to be physically abused. For what, to realise the worth of her unstoppable Capkini of Istanbul?
So now, there is a section which is empathising with Ferit that he got engaged with Diyar to save Seyran. Yeah right, he was also sleeping with Diyar to save Seyran!!!! Why cannot one accept that Ferit loves Diyar and has moved on. He came to the hotel to propose to Diyar because he cannot imagine a life without her. #Seyfer died in episode 74.
Ferit is a good guy, no doubt about it. He just needs multiple women to keep him happy which Seyran fought with at the start and I think she just gave up and realised he would be happier this way.
I just want Seyran to fight through this. I want her to have the strength to do this herself. No need for Ferit, he can go to his true love - Diyar. I would love a finale where they don't end up together. I will be rooting for It from now on strongly.
