At Kiran's office Jiya tells she wont be able to continue working. Kiran is shocked to hear that Jiya wants to leave RAD. Rohan comes and shares that She says getting married is good but she can continue work too. Jiya tells her that her papa wants her to leave. Kiran gets angry that she was trained and now suddenly, Rohan excuses and tells Jiya he will try to convince to her Dad to allow her to work in RAD. Jiya tells him her father thinks she works in Radon chemicals! Rohan tells her to rethink and work for 15days still. He will still try to convince her father.
At home, Sadhana is lamenting that she is an incompetent mother as she cant save her daughter from a wrong marriage and instead told her to look for a bright future. Daadi consoles her saying that was a good action she showed Jiya light in otherwise dark future. If anyone is to be blamed then its her who didnt teach right values/attitude to Mahesh who is adheres to a bigoted doctrine.
Jiya is elated with the salary and calls up home. Daadi picks up but she doesnt say anything and enjoys the moment.
Jiya comes home with shopping bags and gives Sadhana her salary envelope. Sadhana feels proud of Jiya . Jiya shows the dresses she got for everyone. All are happy as Mahesh comes. Daadi tells him that he never bought anything for her but her grd daugher has fulfilled her wish. She got this kurta for him and he neednt say anything. Mahesh takes the kurta and goes.
All are having dinner and Mahesh appreciates the food. All are happy wearing new clothes when suddenly Mahesh asks Jiya did she buy anything for Naresh. Jiya is saddened but Daadi gestures to Mahesh who then changes the topic and tells Jiya she did a good job.
Later Jiya shows Daadi she got a flute and dress for Bharat. Daadi says had Bharat been here then there wld have been a musical evening. She gives Jiya the salary envelope and tells her that in her roles of mother, daughter, sister, wife a woman spends all the money on others and neglects herself. So she deserves the money she earned and shd spend it on herself and live her wishes to the fullest. She needs to asks Babaji what she wishes so that he grants her that. Jiya thinks she wants to become a dancer.
Next day at RAD, Jiya sees Barkha practicing and gifts her. Barkha is heartened that Jiya bought her something & regards her as a best friend. Jiya asks abt Apu but Barkha retort they had a fight and Apu didn't bother to talk to her. Jiya tells her best friends often fight and then make up so its normal. Jiya then tells her that she must be knowing abt her marriage and she will miss them a lot and she has just 15 days at the most. Barkha tells her to live her dream and at least try to. Jiya says her life is difft and in her fly they have to like what their papa likes, do what papa says, their own dreams have no value. Barkha then makes Jiya to walk on the plank stand with the pole in hand. Jiya falters at first but Barkha tells her that she needs to focus and balance weight on both feet. Jiya comfortably walks on the plank. Barkha appreciates and tells her she is a good dancer and shd not waste her talent. She needs to evaluate her talent vs papa's dictat, her dreams vs papa's wishes. She needs to stand up now or will regret 5 yrs down the line why didn't she muster the courage to tell her father that she wants to be a dancer. She has to say it now or it will be too late. Jiya I left pondering.
What an episode, very touching and well crafted story. Scenes that stand out are Sadhana-Daadi and Barkha-Jiya. Its rare that the characters are portrayed as normal and real who believe in doing what seems right or fair despite their insecurities or desires. Very well sketched charac of Barkha hope its stays this way.
