Konkona Sen in Mira Nair's 'Shantaram'


Bengali belle Konkona Sen Sharma is a rapidly rising star on the firmament of Hindi film industry.

Konkona has proved that she can hold her place opposite seasoned actresses like Rani Mukherjee and Madhuri Dixit in her last two films. Now, the actress has bagged roles that were originally meant for Tabu .

Just a few days back, Konkona was confirmed for Zoya Akhtar's film Luck By Chance for which the debutante director had approached Tabu in the first place. However, Tabu had some reservations about the script and has now been replaced with Konkona.

On another front, Mira Nair has roped in Konkona for a small role in a very dramatic scene in her Hollywood project Shantaram that will star Johnny Depp in the lead. Amitabh Bachchan has also been finalized to play a don.

Mira is apparently impressed by Konkona's work in a number of films.

Irrfan Khan has also been signed for an important role in 'Shantaram'.

Other Bollywood actors on Mira's wishlist are: Arshad Warsi , Pankaj Kapur , Shreyas Talpade and Ranvir Shorey .

The shooting of 'Shantaram' has been delayed due to the ongoing writers' strike in Hollywood. The movie might go on the floors by the end of next year.

Konkona in a comedy

Konkona Sen is eagerly awaiting RituParno Ghosh's 'Sunglass' to hit the screens. With this movie, bubbly Konkona is trying her hand at comedy for the first time and she did love doing it.

"Though Mixed Doubles was a comedy I didn't have any humorous scenes. Ranveer (Shorey) had the funny scenes. I didn't. In Sunglass I do have the comedy. And I enjoyed myself. …I wonder when Rituda will release the film! He's gone to another film Last Lear. We haven't even dubbed for Sunglass. Me and Jayaji have been at his head to release it," says Konkona.

Konkona shares the mother-daughter relationship with Jaya Bachchan in the movie. She has already done so with her in 'Laaga Chunri Mein Daag' and the two get along very well for sure. Well, for Konkona (credits to her easy going nature), there is no problem with any of her co-stars. She gets along well with all her co-stars, be it Kangana Ranaut in 'Metro', Sandhya Mridul and Tara Sharma in 'Page 3' or Madhuri Dixit in 'Aaja Nach Le'.

Wedding bells for konkona?
For all those, who have lost hope in love after the Shahid-Kareena and Lara-Kelly breakup, here is some good news as one couple still seems to be committed to their relationship.

Ranvir Shourey is known for his sense of humor on and off screen and the funny actor sure has left an everlasting mark on Konkona, who is so happy with Ranvir that based on sources close to the actress, Miss Sharma is seriously thinking of spending her life with him.

Koko is getting her marriage trousseau ready and has asked fashion gurus to design her clothes. Ranvir on the other hand, is busy hunting for honeymoon destinations; the couple has in fact already moved in together.

Konkona was also busy buying some home furniture at the Godrej stores for her new home and is also busy decorating their love pad. Koko is at a great stage in her career and Ranbir too couldn't have asked for more as he is currently shooting for 'Ugly and Pagli' with Mallika Sherawat, and also has a successful show 'Ranvir Vinay aur Kaun' on Star Plus.

From what it looks like, Koko and Ranbir might very well be in the works to plan an early 2008 wedding after the release of their biggie 'Aaja Naachley' which will probably followed by 'Aaja Shaadi Kar Le' on the personal front for the two.

Hot Bollywood babe Konkona Sen Sharma is expected to drop the 'Sharma' from her name from this day forward.

If this story is to be believed then from now one Konkona will only be known has Konkona Sen.

Konkona caught Ranvir red-handed at a common friend's party a few weeks ago. Drinks were being served and everyone was chatting when Konkona realized that she was all alone. Where was Ranvir? She went searching for him and it took her quite some time to find him - in the arms of another girl in one of the rooms!
