Sher Khan is Pran of course from Zanjeer...he was Amitabh's Pathan dost....Yaari hai imaan mera Yaar meri zindagi...was his famous song and dance to make Amit smile! 😃 😃

BTW that Khan and Khanna joke was started by us KYPH-ians on IF 3 yrs ago.....We said Mrs. Kripa Khan-na.... 😉 can u guess why? 😆

Yes, the movie is Zanjeer😊 I like that song/scene, the Sher Khan in the movie also had a warm, caring personality.

Mrs. Kripa Khan-na, as in take mercy? did I correctly interpret the joke?😃

thanks! yes I think my wording was a little unclear, I think some people thought the character was based on a Amitabh character I just meant to say one of his movies😳 you are right though😃

The movie was Zanjeer as many of you correctly guessed, the role of Sher Khan was play by Pran. I did not even need to give more clues.👏 Those of you that guessed Khuda Gawa, that was a very close guess, I did not even think of that movie, but I can absolutely see how that movie could be a valid answer too, with the middle eastern accents and all. So everyone's a winner! 😃

So here's the part, you all deserved it, literally! 😆

Part 4:

Masquerade ball (Sub-part 1)…

Kripa looked ethreal in a simple shoulder less pink gown with silver and pearl embroidery around the neck around the neck in swirly patterns. She had on two simple yet elegant pearl drop shaped earrings on. Her hair was arranged in curly locks that adorned her otherwise bare shoulders. To complete the look she had on a pair of satin white gloves.

She wore a white mask, with light silver designs, that covered the upper half of her face, the portion around the eyes.

She walked down the stairs, one elegantly on the banister, the other gracefully at her side.

Kripa didn't need a spot light, all eyes were already fixated on her, mesmerized by the stunning vision.

A proud Mr. Sharma received her at the bottom and she linked her arm with his.

Mr. Sharma walked around introducing Kripa to the guests, he was eager to begin his mission!

"Beti, inse milo industrialist Banerjee and his son, Kunal. Bright fellow, he recently finished his MBA!" Mr. Sharma deliberately stressing the introduction to the son.

Kunal Banerjee gave her a shy, quiet hi. Then he sort of side stepped behind his dad and fixated his gaze on the floor, as if the mask he had on wasn't enough to hide him. Mr. Sharma continued to rattle praises about his accomplishments.

Kripa nodded a polite hello to the Banerjees and leaned in toward Mr. Sharma and whispered in his ear, "Papa mujhe husband chayihe, wife nahi. Yeh tho ladki se be zyada sharma-raha hei! Iski MBA ki degree se thodi baat karoongi shaadi ke baad!"

Mr. Sharma nodded and bid the Banjerees to have some snacks.

"Kapoor saab!" he walked toward another group of people, dragging Kripa with him.

"Kaise haal, chaal hei? This must be your son, just came back from the US I suppose, Rohan right?" (Mr. Sharma pretended to be ignorant, in reality he had ordered Rosy to research every single "eligible young man" invited at the party.)

"What did you do in the US?...Engineering wonderful, wonderful! Do you still play the violin?"

Mr. Sharma turned towards Kripa, " a very multi-talented young man!" Kripa chuckled inwardly at her dad's attempts, she decided to play along. She exchanged pleasantries with Rohan.

"So Rohan, how was life in the US? I've never visited there."

Rohan: "Very busy! But I love it there."

Kripa; "Nice, I would love to visit sometime."

Rohan: " Oh absolutely, drop by any time you are in the US, I would love to introduce you to my girlfriend!"

Kripa smiled at her dad, whose head was quite pink again. She whispered again, "Papa, how about I try mingling by myself for a little while?" Mr. Sharma nodded, as he was not having any success so far with his introductions.

She greeted the guests, well aware of her Dad's eyes following her every move.

"Picturing her in turn with every guy at the party probably, mask or no mask" She chuckled.

Kripa had not gone far when she was spotted by Kartik and P.K. Natwarlal who had just walked in the door. They made their way toward her.

"Happy birthday Kripa jee" Kartik boomed. He said eyeing her up and down. Kripa's mask did not stop him from checking out the rest of her.

She shifted uncomfortably under his not-so-friendly gaze. "Thanks" she replied stiffly.

"You look beautiful. Like a strawberry ice-cream cake!"

"Eh…thanks?" Kripa replied at his "compliment."

P.K Natwarlal nearly smacked his head at his son's stupidity, Har waqt khana! Bewakuf yeh nahi samaj tha, yeh ladki haath mei aajayee to yeh sawoin (hundreds) cake ki factories khol sak tha hei!

He leaned toward him and said in a harsh whisper, "Guddhe! (donkey) Necklace dhe use!"

"Actually you are probably wondering why I am not giving you a present." Kartik said turning toward Kripa. "I'm having it custom made from dad's company, Natwarlal Jewelers," he boasted. "It should be here soon."

Meanwhile…

The Rolls Royce rolled into the drive outside the Sharma mansion. Angad stepped outside and gingerly made his way up the stairs, still unsure of attending the party.

He was received by a receptionist, "Your invitation please sir."

Angad handed him the invitation that Sher Khan had given him.

"Thank you sir, please select a mask from the table"

Angad: "Mask?"

Receptionist: "Yes sir, it was Kripa jee's idea to have a masquerade ball. All guests are required to wear a mask."

The receptionist looked the handsome man, his unique dress style wearing a traditional sherwani when most of the other young men preferred smart-looking business suits.

"Why don't you try this one sir," handing him a silver mask, as it would go nicely with the silver embroidery on his sherwani.

Angad entered through the great wooden doors, with intricate south Indian style carvings on them. The interior was lavishly decorated he observed, yet tasteful, not gawdy.

The one distasteful sight that immediately stood out to Angad's eyes was the sight of Kartik Natwarlal. He stood there in a flashy red velvet suit with his double chins clearly visible under the mask. He was talking to a young lady, but Angad couldn't see her as her back was turned towards him.

Taking advantage of the mask and his new look, he decided to go un-noticed by the Natwarlals.

He asked a waiter to take Kartik's necklace to him, pointing him out to the waiter as the, " Healthy young gentleman in the red suit."

He made his way to the host, Mr. Sharma, to greet him.

"Namaste uncle. Aapko apki beti ka janam din ki buhot bandiyan ho."

Mr. Sharma was floored by this handsome young man's repectful demeanor.

"Hello beta! Sorry I can't recognize you by your mask, your name?"

Angad was just about to anwser when one of Mr. Sharma's associates approached him.

"Excuse me beta, I have to meet with this gentlemen. But be sure to wish my daughter, the birthday girl!" Mr. Sharma pointed in Kripa's direction.

Angad made his way toward the direction indicated by Mr. Sharma.

He stopped suddenly in his tracks. He was mesmerized in a vision in pink.

"Rajkumari" he breathed in a gasp.

Kripa looked up to see who had called her by her nickname. She barely glanced around when Kartik once again demanded her attention. The waitor had arrived with Kartik's necklace. "Yehi hei woh necklace. Perfect aapne kuch pehna bhi nahi lao mei pehna detha hoon." He said.

Kripa took a step back, "No thanks I really don't prefer heavy jewelry."

"Nonsense! It will match perfectly with your dress." Kartik insisted reaching out to take the necklace from the box.

Angad who was observing, saw Kripa's uncomfortableness and "accidentally" bumped into Kartik, causing him to drop the box.

"Watch it mister!" Kartik cried. Angad was glad he did not recognize him.

"Oops, my mistake!" Angad bent down to pick up the necklace.

"Rajkumari!" called Khala, "idhar ana zara!"

"Rajkumari?" Angad straightened up handing the necklace to Kartik. By that time she had hurried away, eager to get away from Kartik. "Her name is Rajkumari" he mused, "there couldn't be a more clear indication, thank you god." he said saying a silent prayer toward the heavens.
