hey guys im here with another ff and this time i wanted to make it more interesting. i have continued after the time when Naina shot Rajveer. lets see how it goes.

1

CLEAN SLATE

The only noise was of the machine displaying the patient's heartbeat. The      zig zag design went up and down where the peaks sometimes appeared as Mount

Everest or as foothills. The right hand made a tiny movement in the fingers

but there were no other movements from the rest of the body as it had been

dead for the past few weeks.

When the patient first arrived at the hospital, his body appeared with more

bullets than flesh. His breathing was very low, his eyes were barely open and

his head was sliced. The body was found astray the sea near the fish

market. They had been successful in removing all the bullets but were unable

to revive him to consciousness. He slipped into a coma.

A petite nurse entered the room. Her hair was long and black  tied up

on the oval face. She came there to change his dressing and his clothes

and got knocked back into the side table as it was the first time his eyes had

opened.

Later on the day the doctor examined the patient's eyes. 'Look at his eyes!"

there was surprise in his voice, 'a moment ago they were grey as cables of

steel but now they're hazel'.

The nurse looked closer and saw a blink 'what does this mean doctor?'

'It means that our visitor has been born,' he seemed pleased as if he had

received an award, 'I think u should inform them.'

Few hours later the ICU had been filled with the Mumbai police, officers

gathered near the patient's room area.

The doctor was in his office with all the reports, laid out ready. Three

weeks ago when the half dead man had arrived under his care, he had

believed that luck alone would be able to save him. The heart was nearly

punctured and the head was severely damaged but now he was confident

that the patient would recover.

'Doctor Mathur?' A tall well built man with aquiline features stepped into

his office.  'I'm ACP Rathod Crime Branch Mumbai.' After revealing his

badge he sat down opposite him.

'Sir the patient you had brought in has recovered from the coma. These

tests inform us that the condition of his heart has improved but'' he

handed him a file, 'I conversed with him and found something which won't

be good news.'

The officer looked questionably at the doctor. 'Are you saying that

he won't survive?'

'He will survive because the real danger has passed.'

'Then has he lost his ability to talk?'

'Let's say that he can't speak much at the moment. But that's normal. The

abnormal thing is that he doesn't know anything.'

'Explain to me properly.'

'What I mean is that he doesn't remember he was brutally shot and crashed

his head against a car. The patient had suffered such a traumatic

experience it's possible to repress such memory but his long term

memory is of concern.' Mathur put up CT scans of the patient.  'The heavy

blow that he got from the crash damaged a part of his brain due to which

he has developed amnesia. This is a temporary condition where the

memory is disturbed. In this case the patient is suffering from retrograde

amnesia, where the sufferers find it hard to remember anything before an

incident has taken place. I asked him over and over again but there was

blank. Some people don't ever retrieve back the memories and some

luckily do in due course.'

The officer paced up and down. 'You're aware that this patient can

be very dangerous because we have not much information about him except

for his ID badge. He is an army officer but which regiment and why was

he shot? What if he is a spy and is in an army get up?'

The doctor nodded, 'your point is valid but all these tests refer to only one

thing.'

'Do the tests again, I'm not convinced.' Rathod left the room.

The patient looked around the room. Nothing made any sense. There was a

mirror on the right side of his bed in which he examined his face. Huge

hazel eyes stared back at him. His nose was round and his lips were thin

and dry. Why couldn't he remember the face in front of him?

Rathod burst in with the intention to explode, but he gradually relaxed,

'the doctors tell me you don't remember anything, but the look in your eyes

is telling me that there's more to this story then put.'

The amnesia patient looked confused and simultaneously felt intimated by

Rathod.

'You might fool everyone else but you can't escape me. If I find out

you're nothing more than the filth of this country then it's my job to get rid of

it.' Do I make myself clear Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat?

'I don't understand what you're saying.' Raj spoke in a frail voice.

A smile developed on the officer's face. 'If you think that by behaving in

such a way you'll be able to get out of here unharmed then you're

under a misconception. I'm not going to let you go after you're in my

clutches.' He left.

The patient tried to concentrate to make an association with the name

Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat but there were no results. He checked his

wounds in the mirror. He noticed that he had been shot near the heart and

just above his abdomen. Why was he shot? The more he thought his head

became even heavier as if someone had put heavy weights. His vision

started to blur until there was blank.

'You can't really expect me to believe this.' ACP was still not convinced.

'All of this was done in front of you. I consulted with my colleagues who

came up with the same declaration that this patient is certainly

suffering from retrograde amnesia.

Once back into the hospital corridor, Rathod thought about the reality of the

situation. Perhaps he wasn't a criminal and really was an officer but then

why wasn't his regiment searching for him. It had been three weeks. If he

really did loose his memory then perhaps he could get a chance to start

over with a clean slate.

hey guys im posting the next part and it is quite long.

                                                                  2
                                                  BLIND SUPPORT

"Concentrate!" The petite nurse served him soup. It had been two weeks and now Rajveer was able to sit, but his walking was still awkward due to the gut wound.

He avoided the soup, "there are only blank images. Every time I try to remember my head feels as if a heavy burden has been put on it."

She put the soup down and reached for his hand. "Let's see at the things that we already know," from the side table she picked up the record file, "your name is Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat. Your height is 5.10" and the colour of your eyes is brown…"

He shut the file with disinterest, "this is old news. All of this is not going to help me know if is all true." You could be nothing more than the filth of this country. Those words ached in his chest from which it felt his existence made no sense. I'm not going to let you go after you're in my clutches.

"When I look into those eyes I see nothing but innocence."

"I've nothing at all, not even a small clue which could tell me where I came from or where I've to go".

No one new seemed to feel his presence which made him wonder, if he was in the army and why was there nobody out there looking for him? One thing he had made clear was that Mumbai wasn't the place where he was originated from but then why was he there? There were too many questions with no answers.

"Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery. Today is the present of which is a gift", the nurse comforted him.

"Everything's in bits and pieces." Rajveer nearly cried.

"I know you're going through a hard time. I'm here to help you." She put her hand over his.

He stared at the hand, "why are you doing this?"
"I know that you're not what everyone is saying you are. Now don't ask me how, I just do."

The crime branch office was known as the premiere police department. Rathod was no stranger to the action. He sat in his office staring at the confidential file he received from his seniors and wondered whether the information was of his advantage.

The phone rang. "Ji Sir", mujhe lagta hai hum apna pehla qadam barha sakte hai."
The voice from the other side was of his senior officer. "Good, tumhara agla qadam kya hai?"

"kuch nahi sir," he smiled, "wahi, bus haal chaal poochunga." The conversation ended.

A dark man stepped into his office. "Sir, you called me?"

"Yes. I want you to run the background on this man." He handed him Rajveer's ID badge and stood up to leave. "And remember, this information should only stay between you and me."

Rajveer was surrounded by black fog so he began to suffocate and his heart beat became slower. With helpless hands he reached out to clear the vision but it went in vain.

All of sudden a light of aspiration came and he woke up. He was drenched in sweat, his pulse rate had increased and he was holding someone's hand really tight.

"You look like you've seen a ghost," the nurse heard him speak in his sleep so came to inquire but he held her hand with such a grip that she couldn't even think.

He released the grip instantly and breathed slowly. Everything was becoming steady but his thought processes were jumping all over the place. "I've to get out of here." He attempted to get up but failed.

"You're not serious?" you can barely walk on your feet."

He sat up with difficulty and put his feet on the floor. It felt cold, which meant that the numbness had gone. He peeped through the door to see how many guards were out there. He saw two constables in uniform outside his room. Then he was able to recognize the under covers as well He made a mental plan where all of the techniques came into his mind automatically. He didn't know how but it just did. "There are just a bunch of officers on duty today so it won't take much effort to…"

"You know you can't do it," she shook her head, "how long do you think it'll be until you get shot again?"

He felt blood on the tip of his fingers and he let out a slow groan. His wound had opened.

"My god! What did I tell you, now do you see?" She laid him down on the bed and pulled up the top. Her hands couldn't stop trembling for some reason but she still had to perform her duty. She opened up the bandage and saw that a few stitches had opened. "What good is escaping from here going to be if you're not even going to stay alive?" She grabbed the stitching tools from the side table and began amending.

"I've to get the answers. What if the first place I'll see after this hospital would be a prison cell."
"You're being too dramatic."

"I can't just lie around here." He attempted to get up but got pushed back down.

"I haven't finished," after re- dressing the wound she stared at him as if she had an idea,

"if you really want to leave this place right now you need my help."

His black brows met above the blade of his nose. One minute she was against the idea of him escaping and now she was holding out a helping hand.

"There's only one way and that's to go out from the front door."

He let out a short laugh, "do you seriously believe that I'll be able to walk out without any explanations whatsoever?"

"There's nothing amusing in that. Trust me when I'm saying that you can just walk out of the door."

"What's your name?"

Her eyes twitched, "excuse me?"

"It's been such a long time since you've taken care of me but I don't even know your name."

A smile formed on her face, "my name's Alisha."

He coughed lightly, "So Alisha you want to help me."

"That's why I gave the idea in the first place. I'm going with you."

"Why?"

"Trust me; I'll tell you when the right time comes."

Now they both were in this together with his forgotten memory and her blind support.
