Of all the legendary diamonds in the world, the Kohinoor is probably the most famous and sought after. From Aryan kings to the Turks, from the Mughals to British – all who have touched India have sought this illustrious and (in)famous diamond. Taking their search forward is the new series from Sahara One Television simply named Kohinoor - a strong edge-of-the-seat entertainer from Sahara One Television.
Moving through various spheres of intrigue, Kohinoor unfolds itself as we travel in time with the stone to get involved with the protectors and plunderers the diamond. A combination of old world charm and new age action makes this series compelling programming. Combined with the aura and mystery that surrounds the stone, the viewer is assured of a nail biting, mind bending and adrenalin pumping journey.
The protagonists Irawati Kohli (Kuljeet Randhawa) and Samar Khanna (Ankur Nayyar) journey through immense highs and lows to uncover the intrigues attached to the diamond. This journey takes them to the silent witnesses from the past – famous historical places to the contemporary page 3 crowds, from intense mental journeys through legends and stories to real life drama.
There are also other interesting characters like inspector Shinde (Ajinkya Deo) who believes that Iravati has a link with a murder he is investigating), and Karan (Amit Sadh) the playboy who is interested in Iravati, but to what end, is revealed later. And then, there is a villain Kaali (Manish Wadhwa) who is a killer with a heart, but a puppet in his masters' hands.
In a nutshell, Kohinoor is going to take the Indian viewer on an action trip that's dark, intense, thrilling, passionate and absolutely engrossing – all for the love of that one famous stone – the Kohinoor.

A night as royal as the Kohinoor!
The night was long, and boy did everyone enjoy it. Sahara celebrated the launch of their new Kuljeet Randhawa and Ankur Nayyar thriller Kohinoor at the JW Marriot and in real style.
With hookah, and fortune tellers, a dance floor and even caricature sketch makers, Sahara did all it takes to make it one ball!
Seen at the party, a huge brigade of TV stars, Nikki Aneja, Mandira Bedi with husband Raj Kaushal, Mihir and Manini De Mishra, Tony and Diya Singh, Smriti Irani, who made a brief appearance.
Seen having a ball of a time were Rohit Roy, Samir Soni, Mandira Bedi, Manasi Joshi and Vikram Acharya, who danced themselves to glory till the very end of the party.
We like to party!
Kuljeet Randhawa and Ankur Nair were seen dancing with friends. Kuljeet seemed rather amused by the way Ankur can dance, wild we must say.
Somewhere along the revelry, Samir Soni and Rohit Roy took off their blazers and threw them in the air. Maybe the heat and the relentless letting your hair lose were getting to them. Swetta Keswani, Yash Tonk and wife Gauri made a late entrance and chose to leave soon too. However not many from the cast of the show were seen at the bash.
The drinks kept flowing and somewhere around one, more liquor had to be called for.
From the executive dossier, Sam Balsara of Madison Communications, Manish Goswami, Kumud Choudhary, Shantanu Aditya, CEO and Purnendu Bose, COO SaharaOne Television were seen frolicking in the pulsating music.
One wild night we must say, however. Everyone had blast and let themselves lose in the revelry. What better way to celebrate the birth of a Kohinoor, huh! 😛

Sahara One set to unfold Kohinoor's mystery!
Is the 'Kohinoor' diamond with the British a fake? Is the 'Kohinoor' still in India? The questions have been raised by Sahara One Television's new suspense thriller titled by the name of the coveted stone itself.
The Cinevistaas' produced entertainer, starring Kuljeet Randhawa, Ankur Nayyar, Amit R Sadh and Manish Wadhwa, hits the small screen on September 5, and claims that a sole survivor knows the mystery of Kohinoor.
"Kohinoor brings with it mysticism, numerology, astrology and astrophysics. Besides its thrill, it also has some moments of emotion between the main characters. Visually also the story moves to various places - famous historical places to the contemporary Page 3 crowds, from intense mental journeys through legends and stories to real life drama," said producer of the serial, Sunil Mehta.
'Kohinoor starts-off with Kunal Singh Rathore, a businessman in Mumbai trying to reach the protagonist, Irawati Kohli just before he is killed. Fate brings Irawati into the forefront, to try and unravel the secret that Kunal Singh had left behind. All clues move in one direction, and the search for the precious stone -The Kohinoor - begins.
Kuljeet Randhawa, who has also featured on Special Squad on Star One, and plays central character Irawati in the serial, said: "I play a woman who takes her own decisions, but at the same time, is also vulnerable in the face of threats, dangers and circumstances that has never been a part of her milieu. The character is a child-like woman, something that I have never tried. It has not been easy essaying this role, but at the same time it was very interesting, and I really enjoyed it."
Amit Sadh, whose heart is set on Iravati in the serial, is trying to convince the lady that his he is her only Kohinoor, and she should stop running after the 'Kohinoor' diamond.
"I'm sure this will do it for Sahara," he says.

Episode 01......
Irawati Kohli is from Britain. Her childhood spent there, but has an Indian ancestorial. She is interested in old civilizations of India and is reasearcher in that field. She has come to India for the first time to give a speech on India's civilisation.
Epi starts with an old man is sitting in his desk. It is a stormy night. When he calls up a girl. That girl is Irawati Kohli who hasn't even heard the man's name. Irawati has just finishes off her lecture amongst applauses when she receives a strange call. The man Mr. Rathore tells her that he wants to meet her urgently. She is perplexed becuase she doesn't know him and has to leave for her country soon.
Hearing the urgency in his voice,she agress to come to his house and gets the sddress. Meantime aomeone enters Rathore's house and murders him. Just before dying that man writes Irawati's name in blood on the floor. Police come and investigate the place, just as Irawati also reaches the place. She becomes a suspect.
Just then a guy enters the house. He is Samar Khanna(Ankurr Nayyar) from CBI and takes Ira into his custody and drives from there. Ira goes with him to get away from the police. But later during conversations Irawati doubts about Samar being a cop.
Samar shows her his identity and tries convincing her. Ira talks to her mother who is in the hospital.
Her mother tells Ira that she is not her real mother. Irawati hears her mother's scream on phone and that someone is trying to kill her, she asks Doctor Jones to check. He finds her dead.
Samar consoles Irawati. Irawati runs away from him. Bhushan and cops are waiting to get hold of Ira outside the British Embassy. Irawati comes there and tries to enter the Embassy. Bhushan and his team come ahead to arrest her. Suddenly a taxi comes and someone from the taxi grabs her and hauls Irawati into the car.
