100 Dance Songs  - Various

<>document.write('Aelina,'

100 songs coming together in the space of 6 CDs? And that too in the price of 2 CDs? Now this one indeed needs to be checked out. With an initial glimpse at the album cover giving an indication of some superhit dance numbers from last two decades being complied to make for an energetic outing, it is hard to resist giving each of the 6 CDs a well deserved listening. Also notable is the quote that accompanies each of them. So there we listen to the first 3 CDs!

CD1 - THE DANCE IS A POEM OF WHICH EACH MOVEMENT IS A WORLD.

When the opening track of a CD is the superhit track of 'Dil Chahta Hai' - 'Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe' with the closing track being 'Deedar De' [Dus], one can be rest assured that it is going to be one racy fun filled affair. Well, one is not disappointed at all as songs like 'Khallas' [Company], 'Aisa Jadoo' [Khakee], 'Tumse Milke Dil Ka Hai' [Main Hoon Naa] and 'Oh What Ba Babe' ensure that you barely manage to catch a breath or two before returning to the dance floor again.

In between come songs like 'Dil Ding Dong' [Kucch To Hai], 'Shakalaka Baby' [Nayak], 'Jeene Ke Hai Chaar Din' [Mujhse Shaadi Karogi] and many more continue to come which keeps the racy feel of the album intact. Icing on the cake though is the presence of 'Sajna Ve Sajna' [Chameli] which doesn't fail to take the CD to an altogether different level.

Play it on!

CD2 - DANCE IS THE HIDDEN LANGUAGE OF THE SOUL, OF THE BODY

Oh, how much we love the team here which came up with this compilation! And we have all the right reasons for that! Otherwise how many could have ever thought that songs like 'Shehar Ki Ladki' and especially 'Sundara Sundara' from the film 'Rakshak' could ever be revived? The songs that made Suneil Shetty a dancing hero, they sound ever so entertaining even today. Masala is added to this 'bhelpuri' with 'Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare' [Dulhe Raja] catering to the masses while 'Piya Piya' [Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega] reminds of the era when Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee used to be real life buddies.

Nostalgia is in full force when one hears 'Aankh Maare' [Tere Mere Sapne] that gave more than just a glimpse of what Arshad Warsi could offer whereas Bachchan's 'Sona Sona' [Major Saab] and 'Meri Makhna' [Baghban] prove once again that the man hasn't lost his edge at all over the years.

Any complains? Yes, one. What is an out and out insane song like 'Ande Ka Phanda' [Jodi No. 1] doing in this album? Chuck it out!

CD3 - ANYONE WHO SAYS SUNSHINE BRINGS HAPPINESS HAS NEVER DANCED IN THE RAIN

Ever so memorable guitar strings that had marked the arrival of Salman Khan in 'Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya' are heard yet again in 'O O Jaane Jaana' that sounds fresh even after almost a decade. Well, the CD could as well be called as Salman Khan special, what with his songs like 'Aisa Pehli Baar' [Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega], 'Odhni' [Tere Naam], 'Just Chill [Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya] and 'Aaja Soniye' [Mujhse Shaadi Karogi] coming one after another. Well, not all of these may be the best that the CD may have to offer but then remaining tracks like 'Saaki' [Musafir], 'Halka Halka' [Chocolate] and 'Ishq Samandar' [Kaante] more than make up for it.

To get into a soothing mood for a small break, there arrives 'Bhaage Re Mann' [Chameli] while Reshammiya, the singer, is not far behind as he has twin treat in the offering with 'Tum Sanson Mein' [Humko Deewana Kar Gaye] and 'Zara Jhoom Jhoom' [Tom Dick and Harry] making you go 'jhoom' once again!

100 songs coming together in the space of 6 CDs? And that too in the price of 2 CDs? Now this one indeed needs to be checked out. Also notable is the quote that accompanies each of them. So there we listen to the next 3 CDs!

CD4 - LET YOUR LIFE LIGHTLY DANCE ON THE EDGES OF TIME LIKE DEW ON THE TIP OF A LEAF

It's nostalgia time as one gets on to listening to the fourth installment of this compilation! Reasons are aplenty? That's because when was the last time that a compilation arrived on the stands with songs like 'Hawa Hawai' [Mr. India], 'I Am A Street Dancer' [Ilzaam] and 'Na Jane Kahan Se Aayi Hai' [Chaalbaaz].

Well, if you though that this is it then picture this! Songs like 'Sun Rubiya' [Mard] and 'Gori Ka Saajan' [Aakhri Raasta] may have been forgotten by many but for those who believe in vintage power, they only manage to bring on a smile. Ditto in case of twin treat from 'Tridev' - 'Tirchi Topiwale' and Raat Bhar Jaam Se' - that can make you go cheers yet again.

And yes, not to forget superhits like 'Kya Ada Kya Jalwe Tere Paro] and 'Na Na Na Na Na Re' [Mrityudaata] that still come with enough potential to make you hit the dance floor.

CD5 - DANCING WITH THE FEET IS ONE THING, BUT DANCING WITH THE HEART IS ANOTHER

Highlight of this CD has to be songs from various films that starred Madhuri Dixit in the lead. And there are many of them. Wanna listen to them? Then go play superhit 'Tamma Tamma' [Thanedar], 'Gazar Ne Kiya Hai Ishara' [Tridev], 'Khambe Jaisi Khadi Hai' [Dil] and 'Dhak Dhak' [Beta]. This is not all as Madhuri's biggest hit till date, yes you guessed it right, 'Ek Do Teen' [Tezab] features here as well. Well, the day is indeed made, but not before you have heard the sensuous 'Kaate Nahi Katte' [Mr. India] and the rip roaring 'Chahe Meri Jaan' [Dayavan].

For those wanting to check out a baby face Aamir Khan, there is 'Papa Kehte Hain' [Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak] while for those who still swear by initial days of Govinda, there is always a 'Main Aaya Tere Liye' [Ilzaam] and 'Main Pyaar Ka Pujari' [Hatya]. Odd, but true!

CD6 - LIFE MAY NOT BE THE PARTY WE HAD HOPED FOR BUT WHILE WE'RE HERE WE SHOULD DANCE

After a trip way down to the 80s, the compilation returns back to contemporary times with super-duper hits like 'Dus Bahane' [Dus], 'Jhalak Dikhlaja' [Aksar], 'Dil Chahta Hai' [Dil Chahta Hai], 'Aap Ki Kashish' and 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' [Aashiq Banaya Aapne] gracing the album. Recent Reshammiya hits like 'Ae Meri Zohrajabeen' and 'Mujhko Yaad Sataye' [Phir Hera Pheri] are good hear once again while inclusion of songs like 'Sholon Si' [Shabd] and 'Raama Re' [Kaante] throw in a pleasant surprise.

In the middle of all this fun, a sensual outing like 'Door Se Paas' [Musafir] and 'Theme Of Aksar' [Aksar] is complimented by innocent romance in the form of 'Dil Dooba' [Khakee], 'Gustakh Dil' [Dil Maange More] and 'Gori Gori Gori' [Main Hoon Naa] that more than manage a balancing act for the compilation.
