No South calling for Manav

What is the next obvious medium that TV stars aim for after hitting the small screen? Of course, the 70 mm big screen - Bollywood or maybe Hollywood! But Manav Gohil is an exception to say. Yes, he too is aspiring films but the domain he's targeting is Tollywood, the South Indian film industry.

The buzz is that Manav, who is currently seen as the business tycoon Karan Bali in Star One's Betiyaa Aapni Ya Parayaa Dhan, has hired an agent and is trying for films down south.

Here's Manav's version on being contacted, "Six months back I did gather information about South Indian movies and was contemplating it, but that's about it. I haven't hired any agent though ".

Does it mean tatah to television? What kind of films is looking out for? "For me a TV career is a good anchor. I would surely like to explore other avenues like films but then without Godfather there the process gets too time consuming. I prefer a calculated gamble and am looking for the right roles," explains Mr. Gohil, who enamoured audiences along with the lovely Shweta Kawatra during Nach Baliye 2.

His only show on air, Betiyaan….has already received its expiry date. Does this move dampen his spirits? "I am a sensitive individual and no one likes one's show to go off air. We are currently winding up the shoot that requires 10-12 days." After pondering for a second he adds, "In six years I have hopped out in many shows. It's futile to worry about it. It is important to face the realities of this industry." On that pragmatic note Manav signs off.
