Excellent performance this from New Zealand after electing to bat. They got off to a superb start in the powerplay with both the openers firing. India were a little sloppy in the field to begin with and looked out of ideas during the powerplay but they pulled things back superbly and hit back with a couple of wickets. New Zealand took some time to consolidate and there were some handy little partnerships as Devine bunkered in at one end. She took charge towards the end and got New Zealand the strong finish they were after and also brought up fifty in the process. India were decent with the ball but New Zealand promptly dispatched anything that was loose and the strike-rotation in between was great too. The surface is on the slower side but India will come out believing they can chase it down. Should be a thrilling second-half coming up.
