I am amazed what actually happened to an otherwise extremely skilled Gulzaar, as a director, who has given us countless amazing gripping directorials in the past like Aandhi, Parichay, Kitaab, Khushboo and Mausam etc

Even very heavy, kinda abstract and layered films like Lekin and Maachis were utmost engaging and gripping directorials of him.... Gulzaar was totally failed (for the first time) as being a director with Dil Se.

As I like to celebrate I try to celebrate certain movie anniversaries, too.

As the kids have summer holidays, they join me as they like SRK movies...buuuut I still didn't want to show them Dil Se, so instead, they chose K3G (although the youngest first favoured Don 2 smiley36)

So, yes, Dil Se - until now - is still my most personal movie smiley27

Excellent music album - the story started well, but IMO had a disappointing ending.

SRK-Manisha and SRK-Preity had great chemistry. Still, music is the major winner for this movie.

Interesting. Manisha was asked why she never worked with SRK again after Dil Se and she seems to imply he was not interested.

"In this industry, the heroes decide whom they want to work with, not the heroines.”

Why a greedy and overly ambitious Srk will work again with such a fine actress like Manisha, when their first outing Guddu was a disaster and Dil Se was a flop...he is certainly not the one who is here for the artistic values...and it is totally fine as everyone got different priorities.

No everyone is an Amir Khan who never repeated his super hit heroines (except Juhi) like Pooja Bhatt, Karishma, Gracy singh, Anushka, Preity, Katrina, Urmila and even Madhuri as per the script demand.... and even had the guts to work with total flop directors to bring out master pieces and block busters out of them.

SRK and Aamir have both done 2 movies each with Manisha. Your favorite is not any different and has a terrible track record with actresses. You mention him repeating Juhi but fail to mention how he refused to work with her after a spat on Ishq. SRK/Juhi became a more iconic pairing as a result of Aamir's stubbornness. Where is his friendship with Juhi?

Aamir never worked with Madhuri again after 1990. He was pissed she won the Filmfare for Dil and he lost.

Urmila became the face of Rangeela. Aamir was pissed he lost again and the film's legacy hinges on Urmila, not him. He never worked with her again.

Karishma also got more credit on Raja Hindustani as this was the film that made her an A-lister and was known for her makeover. Aamir was overshadowed by his heroine yet again.

You make it seem like Aamir's generosity is why he doesn't work with his top heroines again when the truth is very clearly that he won't work with heroines who overshadow him. SRK has no problem with this, hence why he gives his heroines top billing. Aamir dumps his heroines and uses mediocre actresses like Twinkle or Kareena who will never steal the film from him. Rani gets top heroine parts with SRK and with Aamir she gets useless side roles.

Aamir did work with Katrina twice. Dhoom 3, commercial success but critical flop that ended the Dhoom franchise, and Thugs of Hindustan, one of the biggest box office disasters of all time. The same reasoning you used on SRK to paint him as mercenary by dropping a flop heroine actually does apply here since Aamir hasn't used Katrina since.

Guddu you admit was a flop. Yet, SRK still worked with Manisha in Dil Se afterward so that also fails your point. After Dil Se, Manisha's career as a leading lady in mainstream movies didn't last much longer which is probably why they didn't work together again. Also SRK, in the interview posted in this thread, said Dil Se is a favorite of his.

Hayee meri maa kabhi toh short and to the point reply kar deya karo...Kasam se I have not read your post, even I actually wanted to, as my concentration level does not allow me to read more than two paras, that too of shorter length...

No disrespect intended as I know you are a good writer, but I genuinely have anxiety issues reading long posts and going back & forth as well with the same wave"length".
