14th August marks Independence Day for Pakistan. It is a day to remember the sacrifices and efforts of past generations to build a strong country.
Initially, the Indian subcontinent was one but got torn by conflicts with a culminating point in 1857. Indeed, after the War of Independence, many ideas and ideologies emerged to protect the Muslim minority in the grand territory.
In 1906, The All-India Muslim League was established. In the month of October, the first committee of Muslim Leaders made their request for a separate state for Muslims to the viceroy of India in Simla.
Meanwhile, the lawyer and politician Muhammad Ali Jinnah later came as the most prominent activist and the founder of Pakistan. From 1913 till Pakistan’s independence Day, Jinnah was the All-India Muslim League’s leader.
Another visionary who pushed for the creation of a separate state was Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He made this suggestion in his presidential speech delivered on December 29, 1930, in Allahabad. The Allahabad Address was a historical revolution back then. In 1933, a famous leaflet titled “Now Or Never” mentioned the country's name "Pakistan" for the very first time.
The Indian Independence Act was later introduced by the British Parliament in July 1947. On July 20, interim governments were constituted for both India and Pakistan.
On August 14, 1947, the vast subcontinent of British India was finally divided into India and Pakistan. Pakistan became the Islamic Republic of Pakistan after changing it into a republic.
On Pakistan’s Independence Day, people commonly wear the national colors of green and white, symbolizing peace and prosperity. They walk through grand parades, chant the anthem, and visit historical places. Houses and national structures are decorated with flags and grand lights.
The Crazy Creatives wishes all the Pakistani members a very Happy Independence Day filled with love, joy, happiness, and peace. May the beautiful values left by the ancient generations set an example for a brighter future.
