I shouldn’t post this one, since never cared about KRK’s review, but his review had me in splits.
I feel sad about the reviews. The soulful music got me excited to experience an intense love story after a long time. I was looking forward to watching a movie in the theatre after a huge gap as both Ajay and Tabu are capable actors (and I adore Shantanu).
Damn, I am fed up with the massy entertainers Bollywood is churning out these days
Although I'm not "fed up with the massy entertainers", I'm also sad that AMKDT obviously got bad reviews which will keep people away from the theatres. Maybe the critics are right, maybe not, but personally, I still find it unfortunate that so much importance is given to the advance booking and collections. I liked the trailer hoping for a good love story. I still hope that members here give an own review as I don't want to read the 'professional' ones.

Finished watching it. My review will contain some spoilers, will post it tomorrow. But for the time being, can share that my 3 other moviemates loved it. My personal short view -
spoilers
Hated the ending. In today’s day and world I dont expect HDDCS ending. Krishna and Vasu deserved each other from every aspect and they should’ve been together. For no fault of Abhijeet, Jimmy S pissed me off and I am such big fan of him as an actor 😭. Krishna-Vasudha belonged to each other. The ending killed the movie for me and that may be because I just realized I am not ready for any mature-fature romance, I just need a happy ending of true lovers. 😭😭😭😭
Also, the ending has a different version of Ae Dil Zara and the line on Krishna is ‘Main yaad jo aaun toh thodasa has lena’ which created sobbing sound across the theatre. Krishna’s char was flawless !
Saw the movie...
The film works partly with twist in the tale coming as a bolt from the blue . Unfortunately it feels like an incomplete film towards the end ."The director chooses a tagline "sometimes it never ends " which leaves you greatly dissatisfied!!
There was so much scope for the high voltage drama but film ends on an abrupt note.Ajay Devgan is very good ditto for Tabu who shines as usual .But it's the young pair that takes you by a surprise.Shantanu and Saiee Manjrekar are terrific in their parts!
Neeraj Pandey had germs of a classic but somehow he misses the mark.Although not as bad as his last film Aiyaary ,the film still remains a disappointment. It may appeal to a small section but for majority it will not work!
Also Killing someone in self defense is not a crime..Why does the film ignore this point which crosses your mind as you leave the theatre..
2/5
Thanks for your reviews...so, my instincts still work...both the crucial points you mention, I guessed them...I even feared them as I thought they might kill the interest in the movie...
I still will watch the movie on OTT, just for the performances (not for the story anymore).
Ok so here it is. May contain spoilers.
Performance is superlative. I was sure Ajay and Tabu won’t have anything new to offer since they’ve possibly done everything and this would be a cakewalk for them. But even then they surprise you. You can see how project after project they do NOT take it for granted and give their 100% even if the roles are much less challenging comparing to some of their earlier roles. They’re really outstanding. Shatanu and Saiee are amazing too. This Saiee girl is really beautiful. The last 15 munites which’s a emotional roller-coaster, had it 50% split between younger and older versions, the young actors hold it SO well ! Very nice job. Unfortunately being a biased and love-story sucker, Jimmy S annoyed me like anything. And more so by being flawless in his performance. He’s SOOO good that I felt like using it as an excuse to make his char disappear. Anyways.
Story - Pretty ordinary. The theme was good, but it didn’t require 2.5 hrs of execution. Honestly the senior actor’s performances elevated the movie, else the story was mediocre. Also, I really think director could have put a great twist by keeping Vasudha single and doing her things as they’ve shown in the movie, rather than her marrying someone 10-11 yrs later or Krishna getting convicted. Why ? Why did she have to get married in the first place ? Really, not giving me that twist and rather a predictable twist also didn’t make sense to me. Yes it’d be Veer-Zaara like, but who cares man ? True lovers should reunite in the end that’s it.
Storytelling - You could see the director was trying to experiment some style of stotytelling. Unfortunately not only it broke the flow at certain section, it also took out the gravitas in certain spaces. For example the last scene. It was an apt ending, however, 15 mins back we already saw what Jigna and Ajay did after getting inside the car. That song and their conversation. They should’ve edited it better. Roshomon effect was done in Talvar or Ittefaq as well, I am good with that and that doesn’t bore me personally. But losing the flow like this back and forth stuff irked me.
Music&Lyrics - It elevates the movie for sure. Kreem sir and Manoj Muntashir did such….. flawless work. For me, this is the 2nd reason (after Tabu) which makes it a candidate for cinematic view in the theatre. However, the best song of the movie - Ae Dil Zara - was misplaced in the movie in a way that’d shock you. Such beautiful song, but it wasn’t placed in proper situation for you to feel it really, which is why it felt forced. One of the biggest blunders of this movie man. It almost killed the song for me too now. Whereas Jahan Se Chale and the last segment just……. had my heart.
Overall, I am glad finally a love story/normal story on relationships with A listers. But with its box office, I am not sure if it’d inspire others to make more.
My rating - 3.5 stars. 0.5 star is extra for the director’s attempt to try something new.
This is giving me HDDCS dejavu. I don’t know the story or premise of this movie but reading about your frustration on Jimmy S character, reminded me of how much I hated Ajay Devgan’s character in HDDCS. It is one movie which I absolutely loved until the climax and then I hated it and still do.
