If live-in is so helpful in selecting the right partner then why marriages fail so much in western countries where live-in is practiced the most? 🤔

Whether it is love marriage, arranged marriage or marriage after a phase of live-in, no marriage sustains, especially in today's day and time, without mutual respect, trust, a little compromise (from both the partners) and, especially in today's time, willingness to provide occasional breaks and continuous breathing space to each other...

Better advice would be to not tie the knot at all. Relationships shouldn't need a legal stamp cos if things don't work out, it's a big hassle getting out of them!

What about children being born without wedlocks? What about their rights and responsibilities?

NO

Coz the dynamics totally changes after a legal marriage...even if you lived together for years under the same roof in live in.

Because it's more socially acceptable to get a divorce.  Just because you remain married doesn't mean it's a successful marriage - that's an awful low bar.  Plenty of people are miserable and stay married.

Her suggestion is increasing the odds that you're compatible with the person you marry.  It could still end badly or you could just drift apart but you're not going to be surprised that he leaves the soap dirty and forgets to pay the electric bill.  smiley3

It is but there are tons of legal advantages to marriage that affect taxes, custody of children, health insurance, illness, hospitalization, inheritance etc.

It's become more socially acceptable to get divorce here too, with arranged marriages.

If live in helps couples understand their partner better than marriages without live in then live in should foster more lasting marriages rather than more divorces ...

I agree with what u have written.

Marriages do require mutual respect, trust and some amount of compromises from both side. All these can be gauged without live in too. On the contrary, one can be fooled for years living in with their partners too.
