Thanks for the tag Madhu. smiley31

Another upset win would be good, but, not at the expense of the top spot.

Let's see what is in store.

Cheers..

GG-W Vs DC-W, WPL 2024 Highlights: Delhi Claim Top Spot After 25-Run Win Against Gujarat

Key Player Battles

Shafali Verma vs Tanuja Kanwar

The DC batter is known for her aggressive style of play and holds the record for hitting the most number of sixes (12) in WPL 2024. Tanuja Kanwar, on the other hand, has been among the best of the bowlers for the Gujarat Giants, picking up eight wickets from seven matches this season. While Verma boasts a strike rate of 229 against Kanwar, the bowler has managed to dismiss the DC opener once in three innings. This battle at the top will surely be an intriguing face-off.

Marizanne Kapp vs Laura Wolvaardt

The Protea clash will be another battle that you should have your eyes on. Kapp, who has been flawless with the ball, will have Laura Wolvaardt, her counterpart, going all out to put her team on the front foot. Wolvaardt has a mere strike rate of 100 against Kapp while losing her wicket to her once in two head-to-head encounters. It wouldn't come as a surprise if Lanning trusted Kapp to work her magic with the ball against the GG batter.

Alice Capsey vs Ashleigh Gardner

Alice Capsey has been in sublime form, scoring 230 runs in 7 games to record an impressive average of 38. She will be eager to take on Ashleigh Gardner on the back of an astonishing strike rate of 171.

Out and out, Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Giants should certainly be on your top watchlist as we head closer to the business end of WPL 2024.

Where to watch:

Still, this match is important for DC to retain their final slot.

A few milestones are waiting for a few players.

GG has to win this match to close the season in a positive note. smiley1

Currently, at the top of the table thanks to their consistent performances through this competition, the Capitals will be looking to continue their good run and end the league stage with the most wins.

With MI's net run rate dipping after the loss, the Capitals are all set to make it directly to the final, but there is a chance for Mumbai to usurp them to the top spot. For that, they'll need some help from the Giants, who need to win the match by a margin of roughly 120 runs or with around 90 balls to spare.

Pitch and Conditions - There was a little drizzle earlier in the evening, but the pitch has been well covered. It's the centre wicket and has been used a couple of times earlier as well. 55m and 56m square boundaries, 65m straight. The rain has meant that the pitch has become a bit cool, it indicates that seamers might get some assistance, not much for the spinners. The ball will come onto the bat nicely, runs on offer here.

It has been a second consecutive tough season for the Gujarat Giants. They finished with the wooden spoon in the inaugural season and it will need a Herculean effort to prevent the same this season as well. Four straight losses dashed their playoff hopes and they have been left with only pride to play for. On the other hand, only complacency will rob the Delhi Capitals of a direct berth in the final - they have had a couple of close contests in the last few games and would love to reach the final with an authoritative victory. Toss and team news coming up shortly..
