OS#3: Untitled Emotions

Context: Abhira saw Armaan and a girl in that shabby cottage. She returned and the family asked about Armaan's whereabouts. She couldn't exactly say what she saw so she said about him being in bachelor party.

Whereas Armaan is awkward and kind of shocked with Ruhi's advancement, considering the labyrinth of relation Armaan Abhira Ruhi and Rohit are in currently.

*beep* He picked his phone to see a message from Abhira.

Abhira: "mujhe ghar pe sab puch rahe the ki tum Kahan ho maine keh Diya bachelor party gaye ho"

Armaan: "WHAT?"

Abhira: "..."

Armaan: "ABHIRA SERIOUSLY? BACHELOR PARTY? I told you I will be in a meeting "

Abhira: "Tumhari not so tuchi muchi meeting ka raaz khul Gaya tha, sabko pata tha ki tumhari koi meeting nahi hai...toh Jo dimaag mein aaya woh bol diya maine"

Armaan: "Ok..woh actually out of office meeting thi"

Abhira: "Ok"

Ok? I lied. She caught the lie...and is satisfied with just that, he wondered.

Armaan: "I will be home in an hour"

...No reply

Armaan: "How was your exam?"

....No reply

Armaan: "Abhira?"

Abhira: "Yes. Ok."

Armaan: "Just ok? You exam didn't go well?"

Abhira: "No. Ok"

Armaan: "Ok I will be back in an hour"

Abhira: "Hmm"

Weird. He thought.

Armaan: "Kuch hua kya Ghar pe?"

Abhira: "No"

Armaan: "Toh itne boring one liner one word answer kaise aa rahe Aaj?"

...No Reply

Armaan: "Hello?"

....No Reply

Armaan: "Abhira?"

.....No Reply.

Something is off. I will go back and see what's with her but now how will I make excuses regarding this bachelor party if someone will ask him at home, he was thinking while returning back.

Back at Poddar Mansion:

Dadisa goes to Abhira's room, she guessed Abhira is lying about Armaan's whereabouts.

"Kiski bachelor party pe gaya hai Armaan?"

Dadisa bombed the question on Abhira .

Abhira was occupied, arranging her books on the shelf, and she became startled as Dadisa abruptly entered her room, questioning her.

"Woh...Saurav nahi Gaurav...ki bachelor party" she stammered.

"Tumhe lagta hai hum stupid hain? Hum mein se kisi ka call utha nahi Raha Armaan but tumko sab pata hai?" Dadisa snapped back.

"Haan...woh...mera bhi call lag nahi raha tha but abhi message kiya ek ghante mein aa jayega, aapko meri baat pe vishwas nahi toh aap hi usse puch lena..." Abhira replied.

"Apna phone dikhao" Dadisa as always is behind Abhira

Abhira was shocked, "kyun?"

Aryan, Manisha alongwith Vidya who were outside entered the room.

"Dadisa abhi Armaan bhaiya ka message aaya ye dekhiye" Aryan immediately showed his chat with Armaan. Dadisa took Aryan's phone.

Aryan: "Where are you Armaan Bhaiya?" (1min ago)

Armaan: "Party" (just now)

"Thik hai, tum jaao" Aryan hurriedly took his phone back and ran away.

Dadisa's attention turned back to Abhira who already hid her phone.

"Ladki, kya tum Ruhi se mili thi, kya bola tumne ussey?" Dadisa asked.

"Dadisa maine toh bas sorry bola..." Abhira answered meekly.

"Maine kaha tha na mummyji, Abhira toh Ruhi ko waapis laane ke liye sorry bolne hi gayi ho gi, woh surekha ji ko pata nahi kuch zyaada hi dikkat hai Abhira se." Manisha stepped forward taking Abhira's side.

"Armaan bhi Gaya tha tumhare saath?" Dadisa asked Abhira again.

Abhira shook her head to say no.

Dadisa looked back at Vidya. As Vidya lowered her head, Dadisa turned to leave the room and Vidya followed her.

Manisha was about to leave too when she turned towards Abhira and said, "Dekho Abhira, Armaan na acha ladka hai, but tum na uski patni ho, toh patni ko na pati ki har khabar honi chahiye."

Abhira nodded.

Manisha continued, "waise Armaan tumhe sab kuch batata hai na?"

Abhira was scared with Dadisa's sudden questioning, then she felt relieved when Aryan came in with his phone and now she was getting confused with Manisha Chachi's talks.

"Nahi woh kya hai na, Ruhi tumhari bhi kuch lagti hai, devrani hai tumhari na, toh tum na usko dekh Lena, Armaan bechara Yun Ruhi peeche Lage hai na?" Manisha eyes Abhira.

"Haan jaise woh mujhe apni best friend ke beech aane dega" Abhira thought to herself and rolled her eyes at the thought of Armaan but realised that Manisha Chachi was still standing in front of her, she just nodded her head. It's better not to reply or ask anything to this circus of a family.

When Armaan returned home, he sought to avoid everyone. He hastily made his way back to his room, eager to speak with Abhira before confronting his family. What if they questioned him about the fictional bachelor party?

He was in the corridor when he was confronted with Vidya and Madhav.

"Maa..." Armaan said.

Vidya asked, "kahan the inti raat tak Armaan?"

"Woh...party.... thi ek,....maa...toh" He answered.

"Acha thik hai...tum jaake fresh ho jao pehle" Vidya wanted to say more but she stopped.

Armaan nodded and was about to leave from there when Vidya asked again.

"Ruhi se baat Kiya kya Armaan? Kuch bola usne? Waapis Ghar kab aayegi woh?" Vidya couldn't help herself and ask.

"Haan...baat Hui.......usne bola nahi par abhi tak waapis aane ka...main use phir se..." Armaan said.

"Koi zarurat nahi hai" Madhav interjected standing straight.

Armaan looked at his dad and then his Mom. He thought Vidya will say something but this time she didn't. Madhav continued, "Ruhi ko laane ki zimmedari humari hogi, ab Jo baat karni hogi woh hum karenge. Tum ab jao."

Atmosphere was tensed, Armaan sensed.

So he bid them goodnight and left from there. Upon reaching his room, he was surprised to find Abhira setting her comforter on the sofa.

"Aaj sofa pe Sona hai?" Armaan asked.

"Hmm..." Abhira replied.

"Exam kaisa tha?" He asked.

"Thik" she replied.

"Pass ho jaogi?" He inquired, hoping for a more detailed reply from her, but instead, she just frowned at him.

"Hmm..." She replied.

Armaan frowned upon her hmmm-ed reply.

"Ye bachelor party ka kya scene tha" Armaan asked while taking off his coat.

"Harkatein toh bachelor party wali hi dekhi toh wohi bol dala" Abhira muttered while sitting on her sofa cum bed.

"Kya?" Armaan strained to catch the exact words she uttered. He moved towards where she was seated.

"Ghar pe sabne pucha toh Jo dimaag mein aaya bol Diya." He heard her comparatively longer reply this time.

"Naraaz ho?" He asked softly, sitting beside her.

"No" she scoffed.

"Maine jhoot bola tumse" he ended up saying wanting to have a conversation with her.

"Pata hai"  she replied.

She truly didn't want to engage in a conversation with him at this moment. Having seen him hugging another girl in a rundown place and then facing interrogation from his family about his whereabouts at home, she experienced an indescribable feeling. All she desired was silence; otherwise, she feared she might have an outburst. Her mind was not functioning properly in that moment. As she attempted to stand up, she felt Armaan holding her down by her arm.

"Baat karogi ki nahi? Tabiyat theek hai tumhari?" He asked.

Abhira turned around to face him with questioning face. "Kya baat karna hai bolo?"

Armaan was really not used to such one word and simple replies from her. He was already tired after Ruhi's confrontation but really didn't want to hang up on this kind of conversation with Abhira.

"Tumne bachelor party kyun kaha?" He asked again.

Abhira didn't want to beat around the bush. As it is she was feeling uneasy but now even her anger was rising.

"Mujhe na gussa aa Raha hai tum par" she started speaking, her words carrying a mixture of frustration and pent-up emotions. Armaan, anticipating her outburst, observed the subtle nuances in her expressions—the furrowed brows, the tensed jawline.

These outbursts, her badbad, once unsettling, were gradually morphing into Armaan's newfound norm, a complex interplay of emotions that unfolded before him like a familiar yet unpredictable script.

"Ek taraf tum mujh par chillaate ho phir baad mein Mera muh zabardasti khulwate ho, dekho Mai pehle hi bol rahi hun tumhara agar dimaag kharaab hua meri badbad se toh tum usse kisi mechanic ko dikha ke thik kara lena"

"Maine kab chillaya tumpe?

"Kal...tum mere saamne khade ho kar Ruhi se baat kare ab mere kaan apne aap sun liye ki tum usey lene jaane Wale ho toh Maine tumhe keys laake Diya par tum mujhpe hi bhadak gaye....aur suno bachelor party kyun bola.....mere dimaag mein Jo aaya wo bol Diya...main gayi thi tumhare office, tumne mujhse kaha important meeting hai, jab Mai Ghar aayi toh tumhari file dekha phir office gayi toh tum the nahi, on returning mujhe road PE tumhari abandoned gaadi dekhi and phir tumhe dekha uss shabby cottage mein tumhari girlfriend ke saath"

Armaan was starting to feel normal as she was began her rant but then he felt his breath struck when he heard that she saw. Before he can comprehend his reaction on her he felt the urge to stop and correct her.

"Ex girlfriend" Armaan said.

"Tumhari girlfriend aur tum....jo bhi kar rahe the , mujhe interfere nahi karna tha werna pata nahi tum mujh pe hi bhadakte toh main waapis aagayi Ghar aayi toh sab tumko puchne Lage, agar bolti ki tum aur tumhari girlfriend Khichdi paka rahe toh tumhari dadisa maasa uss khichdi ko pacha nahi paate, phir sabki tabiyat kharab ho jaati mood poisoning se aur blame...main hun na...mujhpe hi blame aata....toh....."

Abhira came to pause her nonstop rant, she took a deep breath and continued, "...toh bata diye...ki tum bachelor party pe gaye the."

She began again, while standing up and going towards desk to get a glass of water,

"Aur gussa kyun aa Raha mujhe ye toh mujhe bhi nahi samajh aaraha, kyunki tum toh apna vaada nibha rahe ho...and vaade ke hisaab se tum meri responsibility utha rahe ho, thode mahine baad waise mujhe jaana hai, toh main hi stupid hun tumko dost banake, kyunki ek baar chali gayi main toh tumhe thodi na zaroorat hogi kyunki vaise hi tum mere se kuch share karte ho nahi aur jab tum apni girlfriend se patch up kar loge tab toh kis rishte se mujhse baat karoge....

Par pata hai kya Armaan meri na galat aadat padd rahi hai."

She paused to drink the glass of water that she poured for herself.

She drank a sip , gulped and continued, " meri galat aadat pad Rahi hai tumse sab share karne ki."

She didn't know when a solitary tear welled up in her eyes, on the brink of falling. Swiftly, she tilted her head back, preventing the tear from escaping her eyes.

As she tilted her head backward, the back of her head collided with his chest, and a pair of arms were around her.

Armaan was behind her, the proximity both comforting and unexpected. In that tender moment, he sensed the weight of her unspoken emotions. As his arms almost  wrapped around her to take the glass from her hand to place it back on the table, he made her turn so that she was facing him, he felt the subtle quiver in her body, a silent testament to the storm of feelings raging within. The collision of their worlds became more than a mere physical encounter; it was a convergence of emotions, a shared vulnerability that neither could fully express in words.

In that intimate moment, unspoken words lingered in the air, and the collision of their worlds left an indelible mark on both their hearts, hearts!?
