From what I understand, the elections will be in the April-May timeframe, when the Election Commission will have an embargo on political candidates attending such high profile religious events, so had it been done then, it would have been what it was, but sans the leaders and some of the celebrities. Note that I don't have a problem w/ the PM or others being there: it's just that if it's supposed to be one particular date, such as Ram Navami, as recommended by the Shankaracharyas, then I don't support moving it just so that it's outside the election window
