“Don’t listen to what he says, I know my son will do good” Suhasini explained earnestly.
“I am a teacher Suhasini I understand kids and parents. I didn’t think too much about it.”
“We are having a difficult time with my son. My MIL pampered him, he lost it ever since she died, we are having all sorts of behavior problems”
“Hmm”
“I don’t know, I don’t know why I am saying all this to you” Suhasini poured out the chai, the strainer slipped a couple times, Punky held it down. Kunal was doing the work she had assigned, she had stepped into the kitchen as Suhasini “wanted a word”
“We really want this to work” Suhasini said sadly
“I am sure he will catch up”
“Ghar pe kaafi tension hai” she muttered
“All houses have it”
“Hamare ghar pe jyaada hai”
“Hmm”
“Can you do extra classes if we pay you on the side?”
“Umm.. I am not supposed to enter into side agreements with kids parents, school investigates it”
“I like your school, this model of arranging class teachers for tuition is very good”
“Its very tiresome for the teachers. We do it for extra money”
“You guys at least teach na… other schools the teachers don’t cover the chapter, just tell the kids to join coaching classes”
“I know” Punky grimaced,
“I know its only 3rd class today, par kuch to lag raha hoga aapko”
“He is very intelligent” Punky spoke slowly
“Uske Baba ko bas Math karna hai… My devar is a CA? CPA something”
“Hmm” Punky tried not to make eye contact
“I want him to take arts in 11th he wants to study art”
“That doesn’t mean he cant be good in Math”
“I KNOW he can be, but its such a struggle”
Punky wanted to approach the topic of arranging another teacher, she was considering switching with who ever can do this kid.
She would have to fork out a huge sum of money for the swap but she didn’t have to run into Indraneel
Jer botched Tinder date was alive and available every week. They aimed for each others’ throats like they were ex lovers.

“Did he like his earlier teacher”
“Hmm.. yeah” Suhasini didn’t make eye contact
“I am sorry if you shared the feedback separately” “I am sorry I take that Q back” Punky withdrew
“I just want him to do well. Ghar pe itna tension hai, mere FIL ko leke… maloom… plus…” she began revealing about Indraneel’s botched wedding but stopped short
“I am sorry”
“Har parent aisa sochta hoyega nai?” Suhasini giggled
“Haan sahi mein” Punky smiled
“I better go to the living room”
Kunal was on an ipad!!!
Back and forth argument ensued
Suhasini came and pulled him away for another lecture.
“You get paid to teach him not socialize” Indraneel growled
She looked up at him startled, she was sifting through the work Kunal had done
“Will you let me do my job?”
“Well YOUR job affects mine”
“Why? Are u a school teacher?”
“Umm.. not funny.. but NO… I am expected to pick up your slack’
“Neel TUMNE kitne baar isko teach kia mere aane ke baad?” Punky stood up ready to lash out
“Not yet… but I know its coming”
“Tum assume bahut kar rahe ho”
“Nahi…kar raha… you have to be on his tail, not drink tea in the kitchen”
“Why are you not letting the parents handle him? Why are you even interacting with me. I am not employed by YOU” she hissed
“I don’t have hours every night to waste on coaching the kid”
“Look at you!! YOU are pitiful!! They are YOUR family. He is your nephew”
“AND?”
“You know what? STOP! I will not listen to one piece of advice from you. You are not his parent, so f--- off” she whispered
They glared at each other and he turned and walked away when Suhasini brought a tearful Kunal back. He looked sad
“He is very sorry..” Suhasini insisted
“That’s fine Kunal… thanks for letting me know, you actually have 3 out of the 14 all correct…” Punky smiled
“I DO?”
“Yep you got the toughest ones right” she smiled beatifically
Kunal approached her with a big smile
Suhasini watched Indraneel take a work call and shut the door softly, he did make eye contact with Pankaja.
He is certainly taking a very negative tone around her. Calling her a slacker and all.
Initially I thought Suhasini is selfish.
Now I think even if she is, she not a bad person.
It was hard to tell at first if Suhasini was just a hard to be around person or not. But as we know her better, she is all right.

“Lets go on a pilgrimage, now that shraadh is over” Ajji mumbled
“Umm.. no, our life IS a pilgrimage ajji” Punky scowled in Marathi
“I am serious”
“I am too… rasing a brother and sister you raising THREE kids by your self what more spirituality do you seek?”
“Beta, we haven’t been to Shirdi in a while”
“I don’t want to go pray and cry, I would rather go to Kerala to a spa”
“OK U go, take the Dubai money and go”
“Too late the tickets are bought already”
“That’s the problem my sweet”
“Ajji I am doing everything to be frugal, please don’t ruin this” Punky begged
“NO you are not frugal… you are spending too much money, I don’t have any gold bars to give you or land anywhere”
“I am fine…”
“We have to think of what future you are creating for ur sister and brother”
“Educating them is all I owe them” she mumbled
“You haven’t even married”
“Not for lack of trying na? They run away when they hear I have siblings”
“The men are selfish and lazy”
“Completely agree” she did a hi five with Ajji
“Do you meet men at work?”
“Just Dads…. I don’t want to raise children in my new life” “Not right away Ajji” Punky found herself tearing up
“I understand” Ajji walked over and hugged her
“I want a single man.. I want to go enjoy life, I want to travel, I don’t want to worry about money. I want the man to care for Prateek and Prajakta and YOU” “Nahi mil sakta Ajji”

“Think about it… men marry because they want kids… their families want kids”
