Pakistan vs Australia -10th warm up match--

Hello and welcome to another practice game before the main event kicks off in a couple of days time. This is the final attempt for both Pakistan and Australia to shrug off any rust, if at all before the WC. Pakistan were beaten convincingly by New Zealand in their first practice game. Starc's hat-trick against Afghanistan made all the noise in their rain-curtailed affair.

Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka, 8th Warm-up game

The last time these two sides met was in that pot-boiler in Lahore at the Asia Cup, where tempers flared high as Afghanistan went for and almost triumphed at one of the most unlikely chases given the NRR complications. Well, I doubt that the animosity would be that high, or that analysts and their complicated calculations come under the cosh in this warm-up, but nevertheless this should promise to be a thrilling warm-up clash between two teams who have a simmering rivalry under the surface. Sri Lanka come into this game after being beaten by Bangladesh, while Afghanistan get their first taste of a warm-up after their game against South Africa was washed out.

India vs Netherlands, ICC World Cup 2023 Warm Up Match Updates: Rohit Sharma's side had recently defeated Australia 2-1 in a three-match ODI series at home. (BCCI Twitter) (PTI)

Rohit Sharma led Indian side is all set to square off against the Netherlands at the Greenfield stadium in Thiruvananthapuram today. India will look to provide ample of opportunities to all the players during the second warm-up match while cementing their playing XI ahead of their ICC World Cup 2023 opening game against Australia on October 8.

India is coming off a recent series win against five-time world champions Australia, giving them a lot of confidence going into the all-important World Cup, which is returning to India after a gap of 12 years.

Netherlands, on the other hand, had faced Australia in their first warm-up match at the same venue on September 30 in a game marred by rain. While no result could be obtained, Australia scored 166 for the loss of 3 wickets in their 23 overs, while the Netherlands could score only 84 runs and lost 6 wickets before the match was eventually called off.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli did not join the Indian squad on the flight form from Guwahati to Thiruvananthapuram and instead flew to Mumbai owing to a ‘personal emergency’.

The outlet reported that other members of the Indian contingent arrived on Sunday evening for the match against the Netherlands on October 3.

Like the last match between the two sides, rain could play a significant role in this warm-up match. Thiruvananthapuram is also the venue where the most warm-up matches (2) for the ICC World Cup 2023 have been called off owing to rains.

It's the wrap day for warm-ups and 6 teams will be in action today. In Thiruvananthapuram, it's hosts India taking on Netherlands, who displayed a decent fight with the ball against Australia last week. Unfortunately for the hosts, their game against England got washed out due to incessant rain in Guwahati. Rohit, at the toss in the previous warm-up fixture, did highlight that he "wanted to make sure that the guys stay fresh for the 8th of October". So, not a great deal of stress for the home team, you'd think. As for Netherlands, they would be eager to test themselves against one of the tournament's favorites and expect them to give it all with great deal of enthusiasm. The weather hasn't been particularly kind in this part of the country over the last few days. Will we get a full game today?
