Covers going off. So it was a quick spell of rain that hasn't done too much damage to the pitch or the outfield. Hopefully, we are just a few minutes away from a start

Oops.... The rain is back and the covers which were almost fully peeled off are being hurried back on. A heavy and steady downpour and that will let an impact on the outfield as well. And now the cameras pan to the skippers who are shaking hands. Umpires have decided to call off the game, this is just a warm-up game after all. No point sticking around further. NZ win by 7 runs (DLS method).

Congrats NZ.

So a premature ending to a game that was potentially bubbling up to be a thriller, all thanks to the rain. South Africa will be disappointed as this goes down as a loss for them, a loss by just 7 runs as per DLS. But on the bright side, their batters had a good hit out there in the middle, with all in that top six getting time to play. QDK in his final ODI competition is looking sharp, and he ends at 84 not out, about enduring a tricky spell of swing bowling early on from Boult and Henry. Rassie van der Dussen also looked good for his 50, and Klaasen continues to enjoy life against the spinners. For NZ, their new ball bowling will be a big positive, as Trent Boult struck in the first over as he so often does, and Matt Henry troubled both edges. Santner too bowled with great control, while Ish Sodhi and Rachin Ravindra had largely forgettable days. Still, they've got their final practice before the curtain raiser on 5th, and things are looking pretty good...
