Even for bi-lateral matches teams used to play warm up matches to get used to the visiting country and weather conditions.
Cheers..
Ravi Ashwin: I honestly wasn't thinking about being here (talking about his late selection for the World Cup). Enjoying the game has been my prime motto for the last four to five years and I would like to do that again in this tournament. I told the media guy that he shouldn't be putting me in front of camera for a while now, but this is probably one of those situations where he said Dinesh Karthik is interviewing you and I obliged the opportunity (chuckles). It's all about making subtle variations (talking about the preparations) and dealing with pressure, all you can do is turn the ball both ways and hope for the best. Pressure is of paramount importance for most players in this tournament. Being in a good space and training to enjoy the game will hold me in good stead i reckon. Want to enjoy the tournament. I don't know I have kept saying this, this could be my last World Cup for India. For me enjoying the tournament is more important.
Mark Wood: Been a bit rainier than expected, but every time we come here to India it really is humid and hot. Been here only for two days but feeling the full effects of it already. Have to adapt to conditions quickly. A little bit stiff (after all the travel), it was a long journey, but this is the start of the World Cup, so we are really excited. These games are just about building up to the opening game and we need to be ready for that. Jjust want to bowl fast and take as many wickets as possible. My eyes were shut (talking about his batting practice) for most of those shots. If I am batting, we are in trouble, hopefully I don't have to bat much.
Australia vs Nederlands game has been delayed due to rain. 2nd casualty in two days.
Rain arrived at Guwahati as well. India England match is also delayed.
Australia vs Netherlands
2 pm IST: We'are hearing that rain has lessened in intensity, but it's still spitting and there's a massive amount of water on the covers. The groundstaff reckon they need atleast 3 hours to get the ground ready once the rain stops completely
1:50 pm: It's absolutely pouring at the Greenfield Internatonal stadium, but the teams have made their way to the ground. Dale Steyn reckons that it's doubtful to have any cricket unless the sun comes out to dry the conditions, but the Dutch are braving the rain, giving autographs and happy to take photos from the sparse crowd assembled.
