I thought it might be fun to discuss plot twists and how to keep them surprising. Specifically, when a scene's dramatic tension is in a character's thoughts, and that character knows something that should only be revealed after building up to a climax, the writer has to negotiate a trade-off between omnisciently revealing thoughts to the reader to create the mood and keeping the reader in the dark for suspense.
I wrote this fan fiction recently: just one scene which is a conversation between just two characters. I enjoyed the challenge of phrasing thoughts that seem natural when the reader doesn't know the twist, but which are also consistent with the twist.

After you read it once and find out the plot twist, you can go back to read the character's thoughts again and see how they fit into the context of the character knowing what you didn't know at first.
I welcome anyone's analysis of this and anything else about the story. You can post in the story's topic or comment in the fan fiction book, or tell me here.
The story is in English, but the dialogues are in Marathi - written in both Devanāgarī and Roman alphabets and translated into English.
