Gauri Shinde can be India's counterpart to Greta Gerwig. She's a masterful director with a flair for heart-touching narratives and a keen eye for detail.

English Vinglish and Dear Zindagi were 2 movies where we glimpsed her potential.

Both Gauri and Greta hold a magical camera, one that captures not just visuals but also the raw emotions that lie beneath the surface of their characters.

Both of them take us into the world of female agency, a world that is peppered with wit and vulnerability.

Do you think Guari Shinde can be India's answer to Greta Gerwig?

Not sure. I hope her upcoming movies are as wonderful as English Vinglish!

My favourite movie of last decade!

Mine too! Handled toxic masculinity brilliantly. Also, the coffee shop scene was a masterpiece. I still remember it even after 11 years.

Yeah the coffee shop scene was art and had a social message beautifully integrated into it!

Also, the last speech at the end of the movie where she fumbles in English but makes her point masterfully is epic!

I just wish the ending had been different but I guess that is the reality of middle aged desi women with young kids

Honestly, I find it strange that nothing did come from her side since Dear Zindagi...

EV and DZ Had important portions of daughters and mothers. Also, female agency.

Just like Greta's films.

So in that sense, yes. They are similar .
