IPL 2023 form guide

Rajasthan Royals WWWLW (last five matches, most recent first)

Lucknow Super Giants LWWLW

Team news - More bench time for Quinton de Kock?

Mayers has been a major reason behind Super Giants' quick starts and it could mean Quinton de Kock spends more time on the bench.

Buttler's finger injury saw him being subbed out via the Impact Player rule against Chennai Super Kings but he fielded in Royals' last outing.

Stats that matter

  • Super Giants are yet to beat Royals in the IPL. Royals won both of their clashes last season.
  • Among batters with at least 50 runs against Boult in the IPL, Rahul has the fourth-best strike rate. The left-arm quick has dismissed Rahul twice though.
  • Royals have won 32 of the 47 IPL matches played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium - a win percentage of 68, only bettered by Super Kings at Chepauk.
  • Since IPL 2022, Buttler has been dismissed against spin only twice in 17 innings and has the best average among those who have aggregated at least 100 runs against spin.
  • Pooran's average of 16 against Royals is the lowest for him against any opponent in the IPL.

Lately majority of the teams are not winning at their home ground. Hopefully RR will break the trend.

Cheers..

Hello everyone! All teams have played five matches each, five of them are tied on six points while three are on four points. Delhi Capitals are yet to open their account and today's hosts are sitting pretty at the top of the table. The Sawai Mansingh Stadium is all in readiness to host its first match of the season and it promises to be a cracking duel. It's #1 vs #2. It's Rajasthan Royals vs Lucknow Super Giants. Are we going to witness another last over finish?

RR are on a roll, winning three on the bounce. Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal had done the bulk of the scoring but the Royals hunted down Gujarat's 177 in their previous outing with hardly any contributions from their openers. Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer notched up fine fifties. While the former smashed three successive sixes off Rashid Khan, the latter remained unbeaten till the end to take his team over the line. In fact, the Guyanese has been in great touch this season - scoring 183 runs at a SR of 184.85. The bowling unit seems to be well-oiled as well.

LSG come into this match on the back of a 2-wicket loss at the hands of Punjab. Quinton de Kock unable to get into the XI is a testament to Lucknow's batting prowess. Their four main batters - Mayers, KL Rahul, Pooran and Stoinis - have scored at least one half-ton this season. While the three overseas batsmen have strike-rates in excess of 150, the others have struggled in that aspect. Deepak Hooda is yet to make an impact, he's been dismissed in single digits in his last 4 outings and has bowled just one over. In the bowling department, Yudhvir Singh Charak had a dream debut but Avesh Khan and Unadkat have been expensive. Lucknow might have erred with some of their tactics against PBKS but they'll be keen to get back to winning ways.
