Hanuman Jayanthi is celebrated in order to honor one of the most powerful deities 'Lord Hanuman' in Hindu Mythology. The full moon day in the month of Chaitra which often falls between March and April is widely followed as Hanuman Jayanthi in North India. Other parts of India especially South India celebrate Hanuman Jayanthi at different times with their respective traditions. It is believed that the lack of solidarity evidence of Lord Hanuman's birth date in the Hindu calendar led to different groups of people celebrating on different dates according to their own religious beliefs.

Lord Hanuman, often addressed as Vanara God or Vayu Putra was born to Mata Anjana and Vanar Raj Kesari. Lord Hanuman is an immortal who possesses the power to eradicate all temptations. Legends say his mother Mata Anjana was an apsara who got cursed by a sage. She worshipped Lord Shiva for twelve years and by giving birth to Hanuman she got redeemed of her curse. Thus, Lord Hanuman is believed to be Lord Shiva's incarnation. Lord Hanuman is one of the most powerful in all realms. He's one of the protagonists in the epic Ramayana. He belongs to the Vanara clan (a monkey-like human form).

Lord Hanuman is worshiped as an epitome of devotion (as the purpose of his birth is to serve Lord Ram), eternal energy, faith, valor, and endless love. Devotees seek His blessings to attain success, provide protection, and win against all evils. On this auspicious day, Hindus visit Hanuman temples and offer prayers. A long day fast is observed followed by offering Sindoor to the Lord Hanuman idol, chanting mantras, and reciting Hanuman Chalisa.

Team Crazy Creatives wish IFians a happy Hanuman Jayanthi.

Kriti🤗

This is hypothetical. Like God's presence is omnipresent but you do not give them human status such as alive and dead. So honestly, cannot connect with Jayanti and Janm Utsav.

Thus, it is clear that Lord Hanuman had a divine birth and since the term “Jayanti” is used to honour the birth of divine beings, the name “Hanuman Jayanti” is entirely appropriate and is not necessarily meant to be used for normal human beings bound by the cycle of birth and death.

Jayanti in Sanskrit means holy birth anniversary, victory, and also a flag, while Janmotsav means the celebration of birth. Going by this logic, Jayanti is a term used for the ones who had a divya or holy birth while Janmotsav is a more generic term that simply is translated as a birthday celebration. Thus, we can Janmotsav for anyone but not Jayanti for everyone.

The Hindu scriptures mention the word Jayanti for the holy births of Hindu deities and not Janmotsav.

The government gives a public holiday for Hanuman Jayanti. Since my childhood, we are celebrating it in this way.

In fact, janmotsav means, you are celebrating someone's birthday. So,Jayanthi is the right word I feel.

Kriti, may Hanuman bless you with success and happiness throughout the year. 🤗

अञ्जनीच्या सुता तुला रामाचे वरदान

एकमुखाने बोला बोला जय जय हनुमान्

Añjanīcyā sutā tulā Rāmāçe varadāna!

Ekamukhāne bolā bolā jaya jaya Hanumān!

Son of Añjanā, you have Rāma's blessing!

With one voice, let's cheer, Go, Go, Hanumān!

Here's a riddle in honour of Hanumān's birthday:

चतुर्थजः पञ्चमेन ददर्श प्रथमात्मजाम् ।

तृतीयं तत्र निक्षिप्य द्वितीयमतरत् पुनः ।।

Caturthajaḥ pañcamena dadarśa Pratham'ātmajām

Tṛtīyaṃ tatra nikṣipya dvitīyam atarat punaḥ

He, born of the fourth, from the fifth saw her, born of the first.

Dropping the third there, he crossed the second again.

To what group of five did I refer, and what determines their sequence?
