Gurki did make a strawberry cake and devil's nest dessert, which weren't that bad . I think he was strong in the beginning but lost his charm all thanks to the evident partiality.

First of all, why can't the judges choose the welcome drinks for the contestants???Also, unless the drink had a pungent smell, what the heck was there to smell? Since when did masala chai, chaas, sangria have a strong smell? 😕

Yeah. Reynold is from a family of chefs apparently. So I guess that does give him a boost to be that successful. He struggles a lill with savoury. You can see that he is not that confident with it. I didn't watch s13 much. I watched s14 for the first time and I'm still in awe with Billy's cooking. She's the GOAT of MasterChef in general. So confident and calm.

What was the challange, What did Nayan do today and how hard did judges try to diss the dish so that they can praise KDK, Gurki and Aruna?

Aruna- I was confused at first, is she making a khandvi or a pithodh? Sure, dishes have same core ingredient and look similar but pithod is usually submerged in gravy/liquid. Second thing as @musicalstorm mentioned the method to prepare the fafda dough was wrong. Also, she mentioned the chaach being used in pithod but what about the fafda?

Regarding Swarna's dish, Ranveer was just blabbering IMO about the use of kokum in savory cake. I've seen kokum in cheesecake so I think the dish should pan out fine lol. I don't Swarna's dish is innovative even though it is interesting one.

~~~
Shanta- Dish wasn't her best dish from a visual standpoint. Sangria was kinda spread out unevenly. Pear wasn't properly cooked and Vikas pointed it out during the taste. Cold-cut chicken seemed crumbly and was expected she cut it last minute.
Aruna- Dish looked so-so and the papaya salad was poorly plated. Mint and yoghurt chutney was nicely done though. But because the fafda dough was hard and still used last minute, I would call this a so-so dish like not astonishing or something.
Nayan- he didn't seem confident in his dish and did mention about during the cooking time. Visually, not his best looking one. It seemed like the tomato saar didn't work from taste properly also in a solid form.
Gurkirat- Dish could've looked better w/o the white stuff. It looked so cluttered. Seemed that taste worked in his favor. Cha
Sachin- Pomme soufflé pani puri was pretty nice looking but what was beneath it was bit overdone. Idea of paani puri as a granita was nice but still could see the paani puri ka liquid coming out so it wasn't much interesting visually.
Swarna- I felt it was a nice presentation but the kokum syrup droplets was looking off presentation wise. Seemed that the solkadhi's flavors didn;t work in her favor.
Precap- lol quite obvious which team is winning. 😆
The judges were back to praising their favourites for nothing. Such a disappointment episode.
Aruna - she got chhas and her ingredient was dahi! Such an easy to use ingredient and she makes khandvi!!! Like seriously? As far as I know khandvi is rolled out thin, hers was neither thin nor even. The judges liked the masala tadka - which was mustard seeds and sesame seeds, like a regular khandvi. She made a fafda with fried mirchi. Papaya salad and chutney. Every Gujrati family makes these things regularly. And judges couldn’t stop praising her. With such an easy ingredient, I’d expect more.
Shanta - she tried to make something complicated, she wanted to make a chicken cold cut, but it was crumbly. She poached a pear which wasn’t even, but the citrus flavours and thought of her dish was praised. Honestly it didn’t look like a great dish or plating but full marks for trying something different.
Nayanjyoti - he made a roasted tomato marinated prawn curry and coconut rice. He recieved very mixed comments. Not a great looking dish and didn’t follow the concept of liquid to solid - gravy is still liquid.
Sachin - he made a deconstructed pani puri, a slightly different variant of the regular pani puri. He made a granita of the pani. I think that was the easiest thing to do with the liquid. But I liked the thought of a deconstructed pani puri. The judges were like you served us pani puri, where’s the innovation? Why is innovation only expected from him? His pani had too much chilli and didn’t get good reviews, though they liked the plating and thought it was a great amuse bouche at a restaurant.
Suvarna - she made a sol kadhi flavoured caked kokum jelly, coconut ice cream and jeera crisp. I personally liked the sound of it and thought it would be an interesting dish to try. The judges weren’t impressed. Her kokum jelly was a lovely bright magenta - red. The judges wanted it to be brighter. Maybe she should’ve lit fairy lights under it! Sometimes I don’t understand the judges comments.
Gurkirat - he made masala chai flavoured tiramisu. His lady finger biscuits didn’t turn out as expected and I thought his plating looked quite bad. The judges not only loved his plating but also his dish. They said that all the biscuits weren’t soaked well in tea and that worked for them? WTF was that? Then you’re serving biscuits with a cream cheese frosting.
