CHAPTER 03: No time for even a stable conversation?
Malhar woke up after a deep sleep as he was really tired after all the engagement hassle and fights that had taken place the previous evening-night.
He looked sideways to find it empty. Usually whoever among both of them wakes up first, wakes the other one too. Malhar now felt guilty about not waking Kalyani up the previous day.
“Mujhe kal Kalyani ko jagana chahiye tha aur usse maafi bhi maangni chahiye thi. Main sachme Kalyani ki baaton ko lightly le leta hoon kabhi kabhi. Main 100% sure hoon ki Kalyani firse sab normal kar deti agar main maafi maangta but main hi pagal tha ki uski baaton ko yaad rakhke subha nahane chala gaya. Usse toh shayad pata bhi tha ki hum normally hi soye the but usne kuch nehi bola. Uparse maine hi usse free ka attitude dikhake uske no touching wali baat ko itne aage le aaya aur poore shaam engagement mein usse attitude dikhaya”
Malhar also recollected how he was trying to show attitude to Kalyani last day till evening and also throughout the engagement; just to show her how he is unaffected about the no touching rule. Where in reality, they both know what they are exactly feeling.
Earlier that day…
Kalyani woke up hearing her alarm and quickly turned it off as she knew that both she and her husband need to sleep properly after the hectic engagement ceremony.
She looked at him sleeping soundly on his pillow.
“I wish main aapko bata sakhti ki mujhe kitna mann kar raha hain ki aapko abhi neend se jagau, waise hi jaise humesha se jagati hoon. Par Aapne bhi toh kal mujhe nehi jagaya, mujhse acche se baat nehi ki, ek toh manane ki koshish bhi nehi ki, upar se engagement ke douraan bhi itna attitude dikhaya! Main bolti hoon ki aap meri baaton ko seriously nehi lete, aur ab aap wahi baat ko leke baithe hain ho aap jo nehi leni thi seriously. Raat ko bhi aake seedha so gaye! Kya karu main aapka Malhar?!”
Kalyani took a deep breath. She kissed his forehead and caressed his hair while saying
“Aapko pata hain ki aapse acche se baat na ho toh mujhe kuch accha nehi lagta? Par iss baar hume acche se iss matter ko solve karna hi hoga. Mann-mutav ko hume saath mein suljhana hoga, warna har choti baat nazar-andaaz kiya jaye to wo baat badi bann jaati hain. Relationship mein to uncomfortable conversations honge hi, kab tak bhagenge hum isse?”
After breakfast, Malhar thought of talking to Kalyani and apologising for sorting everything.
He looked at Kalyani only to find her already looking at him.
They both felt the warmth. Just the eye lock said so much.
Just when Malhar was about to walk over to Kalyani, they both heard Godavari screaming screeching.
“Kya hua Goda!” Kalyani instantly ran to her and Malhar also showed his concern.
“Tai main kya karu?!” Goda’s terror was evident.
“Kyun goda bol toh kya hua”
“Tai dekho meri engagement ring”
Kalyani and Malhar both saw how the ring is way too loose for Goda’s finger and slipping out every now and then.
“Goda Ajinkya ko tere finger ka size nehi bataya tune?! Ye ring toh itna zyada loose hain!”
“Tai ye Ajinkya ke dadi ki pushtaeni angoothi hain. Unke ghar ke bahu ko yehi dete hain. Par mere liye bohot loose hain ye” Goda whined again.
“Ab ye tight bhi to nehi karwa sakhte kyunki pushtaeni hain.” Kalyani thought and continued
“Goda bohot sambhalke rakh angoothi. Bohot hi zyada important cheeze hain ab ye tere liye. Pata haina?”
“Haan tai par gir raha hain har time. Mujhe darr hain ki kahin girke kho gayi to?” Frightened Goda said.
“Tum theek se sambhalke rakho Goda. Aur kisi bhi cheeze ki fikar mat karo tum theek hain? Tumhari Kalyani tai aur Malhar dada hain sab sambhalne ke liye so don’t worry.” Malhar patted her hair.
“Thank you so much dada. Aap dono best ho sacchi. Aai baba ke jaane ke baad bhi aap dono unki kami mehsoos nehi hone dete. Main chahti hoon ki Mera aur Ajinkya ka rishta Bilkul aap dono jaisa ho- Bilkul perfect”
Kalyani and Malhar looked at each other with so many unsaid emotions in their eyes.
Kalyani and Malhar both got occupied with the works as Kalyani instantly had to go out with Goda for outfit receiving related works. Malhar went to station but Kalyani had taken off for three days for Goda’s wedding.
Malhar came back early today for the mehedi function. Though he had reasoned that his appearance won’t make a huge difference but it’s aaosaheb’s order for all the family members to stay present.
Malhar got his attire changed and came into the hall only to notice his wife looking like an epitome of grace and ethereal beauty.
Having worn a green-yellow chiffon saree with fresh flowers in her hair, Kalyani didn’t realise his gaze on her while her hand was being adorned with the mehendi of his name.
Malhar couldn’t help staring at her with eyes filled with admiration. He knew that no matter who comes in front of him, his eyes will forever be madly in love with his Kalyani and his heart will belong to just her.
When Malhar was deeply engrossed in admiring his wife, he found little fingers holding his hand in order to grab his attention.
“Baba aap busy ho?”
“Nehi beta. Bolo aap koyi madat chahiye?”
Moksh couldn’t start his line when Malhar said
“Arreh Moksh ye kapde itne gande kaise ho gaye?”
“Wo baba main khel raha tha isiliye gande ho gaye”
“Chalo change karne honge kapde. Tumhari aai abhi function enjoy kar rahi hain, wo dekhegi toh function chodhke tumhe haat mooh dhone le jayegi.”
“Par baba…”
“Kya hua moksh” Malhar stopped halfways to look at his 8 years old son whom he was taking to his room for getting freshen up. Moksh definitely seemed to be in a dilemma.
“Baba teacher ne aapka ya aai ka sign laane bola hain yahan pe.”
“Ye toh baadme bhi ho sakhta hain beta, pehle aap kapde dalal lo.”
“Nehi baba main bhool jaunga fir ye reh jayega aur teacher daantengi”
“Ok Kahan karna hain sign?”
Malhar signed where his son asked him to and quickly got him ready properly.
The evening was almost at it’s end when all guests took leave and Kalyani got some time to admire her mehendi.
She had an “M” written on her palm which can be noticed by anyone but only she knew that she got “Malhar” written on the sideways of her ring finger. That was for her husband to notice.
But she couldn’t notice her husband. She looked out a lot but couldn’t find him in the house. She remembers seeing him late that afternoon when he had returned from police station. She lastly found her room also empty.
She came back from Moksh’s room after putting him to sleep and saw her phone ringing where it was Pawar who had called her to inform that Malhar would get really late to reach home.
“Par pawar Kaka Malharji ne toh aaj half day liya thi na? Aur wo abhi hain kahan? Aap kyun call kar rahe hain?”
“Wo madam, Malhar Sir actually ek meeting mein hain. Ye meeting thodi der pehle hi commissioner sir ne bulayi hain isiliye Sir ko urgently aana padha. Meeting Abhi bhi chalu hain isiliye Sir ne mujhe bola aapko batane ke liye.”
Kalyani thanked him and sat on her bed with a thud.
“Humesha yehi hota hain Malharji. Pata hain ki aapke liye aapka Kaam important hain par Malharji ek baar bolke bhi to jaa sakhte the aap haina? Haan main shayad busy thi but hum dono ke zinmedariyo ki wajah se har din humare rishtey ko kuch nehi milta.”
Kalyani has always tried to be understanding towards his profession but her heart sometimes cribs like a kid to get his attention and his careless nature towards some things make it even more disturbing for Kalyani. She can be matured and understanding towards the world but for him, she is a whole different person who is little child who wants all his love and attention. She retired to bed with all these thoughts.
“Aaj poore din Kalyani se baat nehi ho payi theek se. Acche se baat karne ka bhi mauka nehi milta hume aur abhi to shaadi hain ghar mein” Malhar wondered while sitting in the meeting.
