Taruni was ringing up other customers, but her ears were sharp, she was sleep deprived and had a broken heart, she dozed between customers and tried to do as much sale as possible
“Aapko bataya kisi ne?”
“Nahi, who transport waali van do jagan khari hai, do offices khali ho rahe hain?”
Taruni wondered HOW the new buyer could have paid off all the renters
How much did he even pay the renters? To have the whole building be emptied

Taruni muttered to a youngish couple “I cannot sell rare books all cash, Papa’s accountant will get mad at me”

Taruni darted a glance at Harkeerat and TK Govil standing by the glass door looking out

Ajit Singh was angry TK was passing on such tidbits
If Taruni sold based on TK Govil’s persuasion then Ajit would lose his 13% bonus
He cursed himself for selling that shop to Rajesh Bhushan
Most were renters in the building, the largest slice was owned by a man who was dead now, and his daughter was in the way

“Please tell her you have sold all other portions and she needs to sell and get out”
