Age is not just a number

I have been reading many posts where people are saying that Adilie was magical till they made Malini negative. I mean, how? The premise itself is weird. A high-school pass out girl in every sense of the word is coerced into marriage with a thirty-something journalist who holds her responsible for his misery.

Then he marries his girlfriend of seven-eight years without telling her the truth. (Oh, this whole-ass adult didn't tell his partner the truth because a literal high-school pass out told him not to— very wise.) Then, he and his family don't let Imlie move out despite everything. After flaunting his intimacy with Moon for months to this teenager who is attracted to him and has been socialised into loving him, he decides he loves Imlie after all. Here, too, her platonic intimacy with Prakash triggers his reaction. I find this sketchy because teenaged girls/women get attracted to older men all the time, it's the responsibility of the older person to not be exploitative. I don't think every age-gap relationship is bad but experience is a crucial factor in it. At this point of time, he doesn't care about the social or financial repercussions any of this might have over either of these women.

Fast forward to the day of the abuse. Aditya is the victim, and Imlie lends him all the trust and support. But he refuses to trust Imlie In return. In fact, he expects his nineteen yo wife to mother the rape-child of her husband and half-sister without even asking her. He, for all that matters, believes that AC manipulated a college professor to sleep with an inebriated man. What?

How is this a consistent man?

Whether Malini is exposed or not or whether Aryan is bolstering Imlie to undermine Aditya are not the issues with Adilie relationship. He was willing to slūtshame her the moment she outshone him professionally. Gashmeer and Sumbul have amazing chemistry, it shows but what sort of message will it send if Adilie end up together?

Now, Fahmaan's entry doesn't seem forced to me. If they show Adilie united, that's the end of the story, hence they had launched KC-Malini as a parallel track. But I think Gashmeer has other commitments. It is not unbelievable that an investigative journalist would have pissed off people in his career. Sometimes people do meet randomly and on the wrong foot. They have toned down the water-throwing and arm-grabbing— thank God.

Aryan till now has been appropriate in the way he mentors Imlie even if he favours her. The fact is that Imlie has gained a lot of experience and speaks back to him. Turning Aryan into a psycho would be really idiotic because they have completely unraveled Aditya beyond redemption. It would be a real pathetic end of Imlie to be lost to her codependency. Softbois are not necessarily non-toxic than grumpy boys just because they listen to Ravi Shankar and whatnot.

Now I'm glad u made this because I was only thinking this.....

The concept of "good-guy" and "bad-guy"

If a person is good to the world but not to his family (read wife/children/mother/sister) - he's not good in my opinion.

I'll anyday take a guy who's asshole to the world but protects his family (from any words or action that can hurt them including himself) with his life.

Very good points all around. But reasoning with Gul's shows is difficult because evil always wins in her shows. That can be the sexy toxicity of her male leaders or the negative characters who get more importance than the main characters.

I agree that Aditya is irredeemable now and he already started sketchy. Gashmeer is gorgeous and it made it bearable to watch because the only thing Gul does well is develop early chemistry between the leads. Thereafter they can go as low as shooting lasers out of their eyes and becoming vampires a la Qubool Hai.

I want Imlie to end up with Aryan as he is today, but I expect the show to crash and burn until both male leads leave and they show a random patch up between Imlie and Malini to end the show.

Some people would be legitimately happy if they play badi maa- chhoti maa/masi than Imlie to end up with an independent career and 'paraya' mard

Yes, decency is not in performance of softness but actual treatment. A man who accuses his wife of sleeping with the boss and having an affair with a man she met a week ago cannot be a healthy partner to anyone.

Your post made sense... I get that AKT's actions are questionable and down right wrong in many instances. However, I disagree with the age part of it.

Age definitely is a factor when it comes to assessing compatibility but there was so much wrong in this marriage that age never really played out as a problem in compatibility.

However, I have seen several marriages with huge age differences flourish. Those take more care and more understanding to over come. (I am talking about voluntary marriages where the pair is in love GENUINELY in love)

I don't think age gaps are huge deal when it comes to certain level of life experience. A 25 yo being with 40 yp is different than a high-schooler being with a 35 yo. Many of Imlie's mistakes come from her socialisation which she would have unlearned with more experience.

If this relationship was to be played out in real-life, they should have remained platonic till Imlie finishes her college and she decides that she loves him. True love at 18 is different from true love at 30. (I mean, a decent person would nullify a forced marriage with a teenager but you get my point).

Aditya, in anyway, doesn't have the emotional maturity or selflessness to balance Imlie's inexperience. She, on the other hand, comes out much more stronger and matured to challenge a comparatively younger Aryan.
