But she did pass a snide remark when she was driving him to school

“How come you are not nauseous in the car anymore when you read?” she demanded

He texted Aatreya “she is always mean to me can you come get me?”

She dropped him off at school and headed to work
She was seriously considering hopping on the local on the days she did not have Dhru duty
Aatreya was careful not to call Jaidrith nor Mrunalini
He was upset that Mrunalini was panicking for no reason and taking it out on Jaidrith
Mrunalini had a rough day at work, got talked to by two supervisors in the operations department
She spent her lunch hour hiding in the stairwell looking for jobs
From there distracting herself to go on to browse home furniture and wall art and hanging lamps for the dining area
She really liked three designs
She was flush with cash now that Aatreya was paying for school
She had totally refused a lumpsum payment to cover for the first 9 years of Dhru’s life
When he married someone of his parents’ choice he definitely was not going to be showering her with money
Marrying her and being happy was a fading prospect for sure.She wanted to splurge but she worried

Friday evening could not get there soon enough for her, she waited until 6 PM to go pick up Dhru, he was grumpy and hungry, since the after school program was not stocked appropriately with what he could eat
She bought him a bunch of chips and sorbet and other sugary things along the way and they got home in a better mood
He was sprawled on the bunk bed, she played her music and took a shower, she was not in the mood to cook or do anything this evening.
Opened the front door when the bell rang and found Aatreya staring her down
She realized he knew she had asked Dhru the question of his wedding
“I just wanted to make sure” she said abruptly
“About?” he waited outside the locked steel door
“If you are married, then I can figure out how to do after school pickup” she lied
“Ahhh” he nodded not believing her for one second

“I get it now” he tried not to laugh
Jaidrith heard his mother chatting with the front door open and ran out screeching
“YOU ARE BACK? YOU are back… Yayyyy U are back” he opened the creaky bolt noisily
Enough so the Sahasre boys stared spellbound
He let Aatreya pick him up and be hoisted and such
“Woww!! That’s some welcome” he mocked Mrunalini
“Yeah I think so too… so I hope you enjoy it” she rolled her eyes and left the boys
She smiled as she went back to the kitchen
She suddenly felt enthused, like he belonged there after a long day at work, she was delighted to see him, she wouldn’t tell him that though
“can I go to your place? Please please please? Can I can I?”
“Well I am staying over here” he said laughing
“Uhhhh…whyyyy?” Dhru was ready to vamoose
“Cuz” the Dad explained
