The two greatest and influential personalities in Indian cinema had striking similarities in real life.

Meenakumari  and Madhubala  were almost of same age.

Started their career as child artists at the age of 5 and 9 respectively. They were the sole breadwinners of their families.

Madhubala as Baby Mumtaz in Basant       Meenakumari as Baby Meena in Lal Haveli

Tragic love stories in the industry itself,Madhubala's romance with the leading star Dilip Kumar and Meena Kumari marriage with much old film director Kamal Amrohi.Their broken relationship hogged headlines in the media.Madhubala later married Kishore Kumar. It was not the first marriage to both their husbands.

Other striking coincidence is the delayed release of the biggest films of both these actors, magnum opus of K Asif and Kamal Amrohi, Mughal-E-Azam and Pakeezah.

The development of Mughal-E-Azam began in 1944 and was released in 1960.Pakeezah took 14 years to shoot due to indifferences in the personal life of Meena Kumari and Kamal Amrohi. The actresses played courtesan and a dancer in those two big budget films respectively and the two struggled with health issues during the shooting of the films.

These two divas of hindi cinema left the world very young in their late 30s.

Off topic: have you guys heard Meena Kumari's radio interviews, god her way of speaking is so articulate and posh, she spoke kinda mix of Urdu and Hindi, and it sounds so graceful and classy.

Her and Nutan's interviews are treat.

Do not think so

madhubala had a hole in heart and came to know in late 20s only that its not curable

She knew she will die young becausee of that hole in heart

Mughal e azam role just forwarded her death by few years because of the strain of scenes in chains etc

Her marrying kishore was more after thought after break up with dilip kumar

But madhubala was looked after by family and sisters in illness and death

Meena kumari on other hand died because of alchoholism  and loneliness

She had no money left so nargis had to do her funeral

Her family had abondoned her after using up all her money

Dilip kumar truly loved madubala and wanted to marry her but her father did not allow as she was only big earning member of family a golden goose. Madubala refused to leave her father and family and go and marry dilip kumar against father wishes

But its a fact both kamal amrohi and kishore kumar used their wife to get fame and success and of course money. Thats reason both married those actress. And by the time both realized it was too late. They were abondoned by husbands in ill health and tough times after using up all their money. More like praveen babi case too.

Both husband were already married and had kids. They just married them for fame and money

Initially, felt like Hema malini's voice, like the accent. But, wow..so powerful words, cool. I didn't understand many things though.

hmm true

this is about child labour and single earning women

as kids they started working instead of going to school to feed family

as adult women their family and husbands used them to make money and get famous

a lesson for all future gen women

thats why govt should create an agency like child welfare of USA to ensure no kids are exploited like madhubala and meena kumari

also women welfare agency is another useless agency it never helps any women i guess
