The premise was really good as in the sense basit really felt in love with Nimrah but as he was an employee didn't think he could ask for her hand in marriage and then I suppose things got dragged and now he is very well respected by the family.
Nimra is so stupid anyway from all her actions and is taking what is presented to her.
I've been watching off and on only because the ost was interesting and the visuals of it.
I know I'm in the minority but I don't see a problem in basit wanting to marry her. His always wanted to protect her and never took advantage of her. Never told her his true feelings which from the start were about him liking her. It wasnt like he liked her in a creepy way like that jalan drama or anything either.
In our mazhab they can marry so what is the harm.
Problem is its a toxic show and going around in circles.
I've seen worse shows and relationships.
Anyway thought I'd give my two cents.
On side note I'm glad I watch shows based on what I like lol in as much as I like reading the reviews some can be so off putting that it puts one off but I'm glad I also look at other reviews too.
so your explanation on basit marrying shiza makes more sense than the writer. 😆
I think a huge problem is frankly the writing. it did not build the case for a nimra-basit romance. instead, it showed him for better or worse putting up with shiza and trying earnest to build a relationship with her. then we don't even have a reasonable time gap but in just a few weeks/days after the divorce, he is proposing to nimra. that is just bizarre.
there is this old tamil/telgu movie where this guy goes out of the way to help his friend's girlfriend through many difficulties after she is tossed out of the house by her mother. in the end, his friend breaks up with her and chooses to marry another. at this point, she is planning to move to another city for work and his mom encourages the guy to confess. to this, he says something really lovely -- he helped her out as a human being and not because he liked her. if he confesses now, it would look like he is taking advantage of her vulnerability as she is alone and all his past actions were a ploy to get her attention. so it would be terrible if his respect and his humanity would be lost and he would rather let her walk away and lead an independent life. in the end, she comes to know about his feelings through his mother and she makes the choice to stay back and become part of the family. no one forces her and neither does his mother ask her to marry her son. nothing like that. it was fully her choice as she respected him as a human being and feels that he will make a good match.
so I can see that this is the kind of track the writer of this drama was possibly aiming for. however, that got lost where half of the audience never saw that. instead, we have all of basit's actions coloured and it looks creepy because he jumped from one sister to another before the divorce is even cold. nimra clearly tells him that he has lost her respect. what kind of man then keeps asking for her hand?
like kadu13 had written, the main point that really irks me is the lack of freedom of choice for nimra. if you really love someone and they are not interested, then walk away. instead, basit and everyone is pushing her onto this alliance like he is the only guy on earth. by repeatedly ignoring her wishes, he becomes super creepy and it no longer feels like love but is all about his desires, his wants and his needs -- that just makes me mad. 😡
nimra never was interested in romantic love; instead, she was always looking out for family love and acceptance. because of basit's feelings, he has further alienated her from her family where she is more aware that she is alone. the irony is that instead of protecting her, he has led her to a position where she feels defenseless, without relationships, and full of fear. how is that love? if almaas was alive, would she have accepted this rishtha? no. she would have not allowed the family she worked so hard to try keep together fall apart.
so instead of a love story, his love feels like a further tragedy and problem on nimra. will the girl never get a break?
