Yes, she was shown to have asthma... I don't remember the episode number but it was shown somewhere in the initial episodes only.

Ved was doing some pooja and Kajal also wanted to be there but had to leave as she had an attack of asthma due to those dhoop battis and agarbattis...

Yeah, even there the ML was mentally challenged and the FL was residing with her abusive uncle. Only difference - her mother was alive and DT actually looked very innocent. Another thing - it was painful enough to watch something like that in 2009. In 2020 such forced sympathy is choking me. 🤢
